04.01.2022 The SPRA Quarry committee has been working hard on this matter which will impact the amenity of the area especially with the potential increase in truck traffic. We have met with the EPA and raised our concerns directly with Greg Sheehy, Director Waste Compliance EPA. He encouraged residents to include the issues (Dust, Noise, Water, Traffic, Depth and Site Remediation) in their submissions and they will be considered. EPA may not be able to address the issues directly but t...hey may be considered within the provisions of the licence. He stressed that the submissions are important. If no one writes then it is assumed that there is no problem! The committee has also met with the local member for Holsworthy, Melanie Gibbons, who has agreed to write to EPA raising the concerns of her constituents. We have had some good submissions so far but need more. So if you have any concern on the quarry expansion please write to the EPA. If you are not a letter writer then a simple email raising your concerns is all it takes! Just send your email to [email protected] ..... it will only take you a few minutes. Submissions close Wednesday 8th May 2019.
