21.01.2022 THE WOLLEMI PINES ARE SAFE They’ve survived the dinosaurs, and they’re surviving this season’s bushfires, thanks to a secret mission. NSW National Parks and ...Wildlife Service has confirmed the prehistoric Wollemi Pines are safe, thanks to a secret mission by NPWS firefighters working in partnership with the NSW Rural Fire Service. Wollemi National Park is the only place in the world where these trees are found in the wild and, with less than 200 left, a military-style operation was put in place to save them from one of the largest bushfires ever seen in NSW, they wrote on Facebook. The operation included large air tankers laying fire retardant to head off multiple fire fronts, and specialist NPWS firefighters being winched into the remote site from helicopters to set up an irrigation system in the gorge. In advance of the fire, NPWS firefighters were again winched into the site to operate the irrigation system and as the fires approached, helicopters water bucketed the fire edge to reduce its impact on the groves of trees. The operation was a success - while some trees have been charred, a detailed scientific assessment has confirmed the species is set to survive the bushfire season. The biggest threat to the Wollemi Pines remains illegal visitation and the risk of introducing disease. The location remains confidential and public access is not permitted. : DPIE via NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service

20.01.2022 I am aware people from far and wide are worried about the fires in New South Wales and Queensland so I can give you an update of the fires here in NSW. For the first time yesterday the sky was clear so our wonderful brave fireies must and hopefully have control of the fire in Wollemi National Park. But right now there is a thick smoke haze covering Sydney. This particular fire is approx 40 K away so no danger to me. Would you like further updates, if so press like . Have a great day from Sandy's bnb x

06.01.2022 Modern updated kitchen dining area

05.01.2022 Sandy's bnb weather report . Drove into Price Lane my old house hasn't changed and Tracey Kirby your old house looks like a tip. None of the houses looked like it had suffered any water damage. I'm heading now down Castlereagh Road. Springwood Road closed so I guess Yarramundi bridge is still under water. They are going to put a phone tower there so I hope they take into consideration the floods so back on Castlereagh Road heading towards Penrith, road clear not much water t...o see at all. Went as far as the servo/bottlo got some petrol and some light refreshment . Now heading back to Richmond dark clouds looming overhead looks like we are going to get a storm. First stop Pugh's Lagoon I'd forgotten how nice it is there. River is high but not up to the parking area. Onto Francis Street which I've known to flood. All good there. Now onto Londonderry via Southee Road. Ag land has large pockets of water nothing on the roads. All clear down Londonderry Road to Driftway. Driftway clear but large pockets of water in the Reserve. All good at Agnes Banks. Now for some light refreshment. Hope you liked my weather report. See more
