25.01.2022 Clay creations. Using pipettes to add some moisture to our clay to help us mould it into unique shapes using natural materials to decorate our clay. Miss H made a hedgehog, Master T created a bread mixer and Master B made a motor river raft. Miss H and Master B requested to make real cupcakes last week when they were making flower cupcakes in the sandpit. So, we decided to bake some REAL cupcakes. Measuring ingredients, whisking, mixing, spreading, cutting and sprinklin...g are a few skills we practised today making our unicorn sprinkle fairy cakes. Yummy! Sandy Toes hairdressers. We role played as a hairdresser and customers in our space today. We brushed out the knots, sprayed water to style and charged our clients for their appointments. $4 please. Master B couldn’t wait to show his friends some Koala bear claw marks in his garden tree. He told them we have had a visitor to our garden and showed them all how the koala climbed up into our tree. Whilst exploring the garden Koala spotting, the children also found hairy caterpillars, a spider and other interesting objects and wildlife to show their friends. How wonderful! My highlight of the day, a beautiful conversation with all of my Sandy toes little ones. Miss H told me Al, you are the best teacher in the world, I love you Master T then follows Miss H with I love you Al and then Master B joined in and told me I love you Mummy. These precious moments are memories teachers treasure forever.

22.01.2022 A newborn addition to one of our Sandy Toes families led to the addition of our own little baby in our home corner space baby JaJa. Our little ones cared for her making sure she had a bottle, dressed her, tucked her up in her bed, took her for walks and read her stories. Looking after baby we talked about how to use our gentle hands how to support their head how to pass our baby to others for cuddles and what a baby needs, so much learning! Let’s go to the beach. our ...little ones all bought tickets for the train and set off on their adventure with their bags packed for a day of exploration. Master B requested I read a book ‘Life on Mars’ inspiring all our little ones to join in with our storytime. This prompted a discussion about Space and our little ones shared some Space knowledge with their friends. We started talking about Gravity which was a bit of a tricky concept so we watched a You Tube video of some astronauts in the Space Station floating around in zero gravity. To extend further on our interest, we took a 4D adventure into Outer Space exploring our Solar System in a new and unique way. Mask play pretending to be animals roaming around in grasslands ROAR! Extending on some of our little ones current interests in things that go we explored our city driving around in trucks along the road, through the tunnels and parking in the car park watch out for the construction site too! Glue and stick reusing Master B’s old party decorations and some cardboard cut outs from a new game to create wonderful new craft designs. We talked about how it is always best to reuse things if we can, rather than throw them straight into the bin. The little things can make a big difference!

17.01.2022 Ice cream anyone? Master B set up his own ice-cream parlour and invited his friends to come and enjoy a colourful and tasty ice-cream in his shop. Delicious! Dinosaur small world we role played dinosaur families and explored the land finding food and shelter. We talked about the names of the dinosaurs and what they might have eaten. Roar! Extending on our interest by exploring dinosaurs in 4D! Learning about what dinosaurs looked like, investigating their skeletons, listeni...ng to their sounds and moving them around the room to see how they roamed millions of years ago! Let’s go camping with our dinosaurs our little ones packed a bag full of animal masks, games and books and went on a fun camping adventure together, imaginations ignited! Large loose parts play with cardboard boxes and tubes. So many interesting creations bucket cranes, see saws, balance boards, monster truck ramps, car parks and a boat... don't step on the floor... it's lava!!! Come on friends, let’s go for a drive with our trucks. Wait for me! Reading our dinosaur stomp poem book following the dinosaur actions... stomping, chomping, roaring and swishing our long tails.... one of the poems was about dinosaur hide and seek... let's play! Ready or not, here I come....

17.01.2022 Our little ones began casting magic spells in play so we rustled up some homemade magic wands using seed pods and Master B’s old birthday decorations wow. Magical! Mark making using unique and interesting media. See through plastic and paint. Lookwe can see what each other are painting! Our mark making exploration soon turned into a colour mixing investigation what colour does your paintbrush and my paintbrush make? Can we make purple? Look we made yellow! I wonder wha...t all the colours mixed would create? Dancing, singing and chatting as we have fun creating our artistic marks! Family role play caring for our baby JaJa. Our little ones were inspired to invent new things for our baby creating their own bath with taps and a rocking crib using loose parts in our space. Animal mask play chasing each other around as animals acting out animal sounds and actions as we play. Collecting seeds and sorting them in our boxes using our watering can. Moving the box to create patterns with the seeds. Going for a drive around our city, doing some construction on the near by roads and visiting the zoo at the car park.

16.01.2022 For all our Sandy Toes little ones asking about Lulu and Peck's holiday home... here is a photo of them enjoying their holidays

11.01.2022 Today, Sandy Toes celebrated our last day together with our favourite kind of play. Water play day! We used water trays, water sprayers, tubes, containers, sieves, funnels and more to explore, experiment and investigate our way through a morning of splashtastic play! It has been a fantastic way to end our time here in our space, our little ones had a blast! ... My family and I are embarking on a new adventure in the Outback, travelling 22 hours West to remote Queensland to take on a new lifestyle and experience life in the Outback as a family. Our Sandy Toes journey has been the most wonderful experience. We have created a Community which feels like family. Our little ones have formed meaningful friendships which they truly treasure and I have had the absolute pleasure of caring for my Sandy Toes little ones each day. Although this is our last day at Sandy Toes, it is not the end. Our community will all stay in touch and continue to build on the friendships created here. Instead of saying goodbye today, we will say see you soon. Please stay connected to our Sandy Toes page for any updates regarding our space.

05.01.2022 Huge thank you to all my Sandy Toes families. What a wonderful send off park plays are the best see you all again at Christmas

05.01.2022 Bring your wheels to Sandy Toes day! We raced around our garden on our bikes, scooters and balance bikes we brought from home dodging cones up and down the ramp. Negotiating our play space so we keep ourselves and our friends safe. Always wear your helmet! We talked about why it is so important to wear your helmet when your riding on your wheels. ... Along with our motion exploration, we made cupcakes and soup in the mud kitchen, cracked open seed pods with rocks and replanted the seeds and played aliens with our bright green tunnel! Taking a break from the garden, we got musical with some instruments and cardboard tubes, role played families in our home corner and enjoyed exploring our dinosaur small world. We love talking about the names of all the dinosaurs we know and learning about new dinosaurs too.

03.01.2022 Mark making with seeds we collected from the garden yesterday. Using paint to create patterns and a stick to add to our decorative marks. Castles, knights and princesses with lots of loose parts, constructing anything is possible! We added our colourful wands from yesterday to add some magic to our role play. Flower party in the sandpit our fallen flowers created lots of disco decorations for our sandy party some flower pies and birthday cakes made for great additions t...o the fun. Families role play. Our little ones have loved looking after baby JaJa. They began telling her their own imaginative stories to help her fall sleep at naptime. Master B and Miss H told a wonderful story about a penguin who went on a journey and visited different places around the world including the desert and the beach. We extended on our penguin interest, by playing a penguin matching game finding a penguin family by identifying colours. Our city ramps made super high jumps for our trucks and cars we all tried to make our trucks jump the highest!
