The amendments also allow the visa to be granted to an applicant who is outside Australia. ... Prior to this amendment, most applicants were required to be in Australia to apply for the visa and to be granted the visa. The amendments provide former international students with the opportunity to obtain a visa to return to Australia when travel restrictions are lifted. The visa period will run from the date of entry to Australia.

20.01.2022 PTE test centres will open in Melbourne PTE Academic testing in Melbourne will resume on 2 November 2020. As testing was unavailable during lockdown there will be significant demand for sessions, so PTE will be opening additional test centres in the Melbourne CBD to meet expected demand and help as many test takers find a test session on a date and time that is convenient for them. All test centres will open in strict accordance with local Government requirements and with all necessary health and safety measures. In order to comply with official requirements and to protect test takers and test administrators there are restrictions on the number of test takers in each session.

12.01.2022 @2019-20 Migration Program Outcomes@ The Department has published the detailed outcomes from the 2019-20 Migration Program. The total places granted for the permanent migration program in 2019-20 is 140,366. The total places granted in the humanitarian program in 2019-20 is 13,171.... In summary of the total amounts for the migration program: Seventy per cent of the visas were granted through the skilled stream with 95,843 places in total, this includes 4,109 places under the highly skilled Global Talent Independent program which launched in November 2019. There were 23,372 regional places delivered, from the 25,000 places allocated. There were 41,961 places granted in the Family program, including 37,118 Partner visas. There were 81 places in the Special Eligibility stream. There were 2,481 places in the Child stream. Two-thirds of permanent visas were granted to individuals already in Australia who transitioned from a temporary visa to permanent residency.

ACT 190 nominees are required to provide bank statements as evidence of their continuing ACT residence. If Skills Canberra is not satisfied that the ACT nominees are currently resident in Canberra, their ACT 190 nomination may be withdrawn. 06.01.2022 Cracking down on cheating at universities Ministers: The Hon Dan Tehan MP Minister for Education... Cheats who sell their services by taking exams or writing essays for university students will face jail time and heavy fines under new laws passed by the Morrison Government that came into effect today. The legislation makes it an offence to provide or advertise academic cheating services in higher education, which can lead to two years’ imprisonment or fines of up to $100,000. Minister for Education Dan Tehan said the growing availability of academic cheating services posed a significant threat to the integrity and reputation of higher education in Australia. "We have made contract cheating a crime by targeting the people who are making money exploiting Australia’s students," Mr Tehan said. "The law targets cheating service providers and advertisers not students. Students caught cheating will continue to face the conduct and disciplinary processes of their individual institution. "Organised cheating threatens the integrity of our universities and undermines the hard work done by honest students."
