22.01.2022 Warmest congratulations to Mariahna Mastro whose HSC Music 2 core composition was nominated for ENCORE, the NSW Education Standards Authority showcase for exceptional works. Mariahna’s piece, Recordare, Iesu (Remember, Jesus), is a choral piece for eight voices, inspired by a Latin inscription on the ceiling of Salzburg Cathedral which Mariahna saw while performing there with the College European Music Tour in 2019. ‘As we witnessed all the different artworks, sculptures, and... the beautiful altarI saw this text on an inscription on the ceiling', Mariahna said. ‘As a choral singer for most of my schooling life, I was highly inspired to write my core composition with the first half of the text, influenced by liturgical music through the centuries with characteristics from music of the last 25 years.’ Here is the text for Mariahna’s work: Recordare, Iesu, pie quod sum causa tuae viae: ne me perdas illa die. Mors stupebit et natura, dum resugit creatura Iudicanti responsura. Remember, Jesus, I am the cause of the way: Lest thou lose me in that day. Death is struck, and when it shall be Astonished, the nature of the creation Rises again to answer the Judge.

18.01.2022 Into the deep blue: How might we innovate to protect and preserve the future of our oceans? For the Young ICT Explorers Competition students engaged in a design thinking workshop to explore a range of issues impacting the worlds oceans linked to the global goals. Issues included waste, pollution, tourism, animal endangerment and coral bleaching. Students worked collaboratively to identify an issue they are passionate about and designed an innovative response to the challenge... using digital technology.
