23.01.2022 Every now and then I find a packaged food that’s not too bad - here’s an example of some LCHF-friendly crackers you can get from Woolies. <1g of carb per serve, but I believe looking at ingredient quality is even more important. The only shifty-looking ingredient here is ‘Thickener 1442’ and it’s the last ingredient listed, meaning it comprises the least of the product by weight. #labelreading

14.01.2022 The 2020 edition of Management of type 2 diabetes: A handbook for general practice was recently updated by the RACGP and I’m sad to say it’s ‘business as usual’. Once again, outdated and watered-down dietary advice prevails in the summary, which is the only part most busy GP’s read. The reference provided for the statement ‘consumption of cereal foods is associated with reduced risk of Type 2 Diabetes’ is an old guidelines document from 2013, ignoring vast amounts of update...d science! And confusion reigns distinguishing the difference between medical nutrition therapy (which aims to provide an individual patient with specific advice for their medical condition) vs public health nutrition (whose objective is to keep a healthy population healthy). 10.01.2022 Another quick and tasty mid-week sheet pan dinner courtesy of Aaron Day @fatforweightloss This time the Harissa Roasted chicken thighs. Aaron has a knack for combining delicious flavour combinations. This dish had an awesome combo of feta, dill and a bit of garlic which combined so well with the chicken and capsicum. Deelish! My food photography skills don’t do it justice
