12.01.2022 Meet Wildlife Safe Havens, a project that runs in partnership between Brunswick Valley Landcare Inc and Wildbnb Wildlife Habitat. This is our latest environmental project we are proudly supporting this year with a donation of $25,000! WildBnb creates Wildlife Safe Havens (nestboxes and hollow habitats), connecting corridors and focussing on hollow dependent threatened species. ... Are you asking why hollows are important? Many of Australia's native fauna need tree hollows to shelter or reproduce, including birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects. A range of hollow shapes, sizes, depths and height, from on the ground to high in the tree-tops, is necessary for biodiversity. Suitable hollows can take 200 years to form - and we need to provide hollow habitat for these species while the forests recover and grow. Unfortunately, intense and widespread fires have dramatically reduced the number of available hollows for native species - for right now and for decades to come - across Australia.
