22.01.2022 G’day Ilija here. Today is International Day of People with Disability. Yvonne from Orley Supports & Services came in to say hello and joined us for a quick chat.

18.01.2022 The Supported Accommodation Providers’ Assn (Qld) held their AGM including the election of executive officers for 20/21. Elected are Yvonne Orley, President and Chairman, Nathan Johnson Vice President, Elena Schlyder Treasurer, Linda Beaumont Secretary, and Tanya Sherlock executive Committee Member. Guests included Terry Green and Wayne Bolton, managing Regulatory Operations, Department of Housing and Public Works. SAPA supports owners and operators of Level 1, 2 and 3 ser...vices in accreditation policies and procedures, training, standards, and regulatory compliance. It is a group of professional men and women who share values in caring for those with disabilities, mild mental illness, and the socially and financially disadvantaged, and those at risk of homelessness. Across Qld there are many homes for people who require assistance in daily living, and we provide affordable accommodation, meals and personal care services. Contact can be made through our website www.sapa.org.au Referrers are welcome anytime. Story by Linda Beaumont

17.01.2022 Attention members! A new very dangerous UK strain/variant of Covid has come to Brisbane. There is a recent communication with Health and Housing this evening. 12.01.2022 Hello and welcome to our SAPA Facebook page. We will be posting information of interest to owners and operators of supported accommodation. We have just had a first physical meeting post the COVID restrictions. We had representation from the Department of Housing Mr Terence Green and Mr Wayne Bolton who shared information on how the Rapid Response Plan for disability accommodation was progressing and mooting that there may be some changes coming up after the re- election of ...government for another 4 year term. Wait and see how it pans out. Considering we were once once under the auspices of The Office of Fair Trading and with the governments increased awareness during COVID of the special needs of people residing in supported accommodation....there may be some reshuffling. It was a well represented meeting and we have identified some goals for the year...and we have ticked off one ...social.media contact ...by posting this on our Fb page!' As I haven't got permission from.my colleagues to post the photos from the meeting I will post a photo of residents of supported accommodation having fun st the recent Melbourne Cup Day! See more
