24.01.2022 Sapience wishes to publically recognise one of our professional colleagues Amanda Fisher - The Cash Flow Queen who has received international acclaim and awarded Agricultural CFO of the Year 2019 and Leader in Financial Education. 22.01.2022 Here's an educational post shared from our specialist brand Unusualrisks.com.au At Sapience we believe that stigma and discrimination should not be part of any civilized society. Our children need the opportunity for a fair go, and to be able to grow up free of the legacy of our own past ignorance. But we also acknowledge were not all there yet. So until then, Sapience continues to stand alongside all our clients, friends and supporters in saying stigma and discrimination ...in Australia - whatevers its forms, should be called out as, well, unAustralian. #WeDontDiscriminate See more

22.01.2022 Today we've been featured in the The Sydney Morning Herald talking about 'Back To School' time of year and what's the biggest financial lesson you'll be teaching your kids this year. Here's one of the hardest lessons I learned early on in life - and I'd encourage you to learn from my mistake and so it doesn't become one of yours you and your family regret too.

20.01.2022 Looking Rich and Living Wealthy both have their appeal, but the long term results are very different. In the same way, the habits of people enjoying Looking Rich are usually very different to the habits of the truly Wealthy. So regardless of what money means to you when you're ready to move towards the Living Wealthy side of life, we'd love to help you get there. Why not sign up for our monthly Not-a-Newsletter and make a positive move towards living better.... https://sapience.com.au/not-a-newsletter

20.01.2022 When it comes to romance and relationships, the emotional decision about who you think is your partner, may be very different to the legal decision about who is legally considered your de facto partner. The questions about who may be a boyfriend or girlfriend and who is a de facto become important distinctions when it comes to super payouts, life insurance payouts and family law claims on your finances, investments and property interests.

20.01.2022 Too important not to share. There are many stressors in our busy lives that can leave men feeling particularly isolated and unable to see a way through. It can seem that 'looking back we can all recognise the signs that a person is not doing well,' but looking foreword we often don't clearly see the reasons (and people around us don't always feel our care and concern for them either). ... At Sapience we believe that 'Secure People Live Bigger Lives,' - and that requires an increased awareness of how we can all better protect, plan and provide. Here is some important and current research about men's health that can help us all become more of that better person and better friend to someone close.

17.01.2022 Important announcement for our clients holding insurance with Zurich and OnePath Life: Insurance premium waiver available The impact of the current and unprecedented Australian bushfires has devastated communities across Australia. Our thoughts are with all who have been affected. The impacts are widespread and being experienced by people in varied ways; from mourning loss, to being displaced from home, to experiencing business disruption. Volunteers have also stepped out of ...their day-to-day lives and been instrumental in protecting and helping devastated communities. We all want to find tangible ways we can help. One of our suppliers Zurich Life, has announced they will offer a two-month premium wavier for Zurich and OnePath Life customers across Australia who have been impacted by the conditions and who are experiencing hardship. This offer is available until 31 March 2020 and will be reassessed as the bushfire situation unfolds. The premium waiver will apply to all Zurich and OnePath life insurance customers who: * * have been directly impacted by the fires (e.g. are unable to operate their business, have lost income, lost their home, need temporary accommodation), or have been volunteering in fire impacted regions or are with emergency response teams (to the detriment of their own financial wellbeing). By waiving life insurance premiums for our clients with Zurich or OnePath policies impacted directly and for those supporting the firefighting efforts, we hope to ease some of the financial burdens clients face so they can focus on their immediate needs. If you are experiencing hardship please reach out to us and let us know your circumstances so that we can pass your details on and apply for the waiver. Warm regards, Drew Browne Owner & Financial Adviser Sapience Financial and Unusual Risks Insured

15.01.2022 How do you feel about having money? It's not something many people stop and considerbut theres definitely patterns connected with personal poverty and financial chaos. Every year well meaning marketing departments regularly produce material designed to educate people about the practical hows to's of financial management, but little discussion occurs about the behavioural why's that make it all possible.

14.01.2022 Ever wondered what's the single question families and business need to answer every month? Here's a fun interview I did with the Cash Flow Queen Amanda Fisher about that question.

14.01.2022 Friends, flatmates or de facto partners - how to tell them apart? When it comes to romance and relationships, the emotional decision about who you think is your partner, may be very different to the legal decision about who is legally considered your de facto partner. Interested to know if you're Friends, flatmates or de factos?

13.01.2022 Stimulus Update: The Australian Government this week announced a $130 billion wage subsidy for businesses impacted by COVID-19. We expect this to be a significant help for many businesses.... The JobKeeper program is designed to help business cover the costs of their employees wages and ensure more people retain their jobs and continue to earn an income. The idea is that by supporting businesses through this period they will be quicker to recover and get back to normal once the health crisis passes. The government will pay employers a wage subsidy at a flat rate of $1,500 per employee, per fortnight for up to six months, backdated to 30 March. It is payable per eligible employee as at 30/03/20 who continue to be engaged by their business, including full-time, part-time and casual employees with regular service in the last year. Anyone stood down can also be re-engaged and receive the wage subsidy. Self-employed business owners will be eligible to receive payment where theyve suffered, or expect to suffer, a 30% decline in turnover. Payments will be made to businesses by the ATO, monthly in arrears. First payments will be received in the first week of May. Further info available from the Treasury Dept website.

13.01.2022 Here's one of the questions we get asked a lot and the answer might surprise you; 'Can you still get life insurance with a history of drug use?' . A past drug use history of past recreational drug use, when understood better and its context explained in detail, can often be disregarded if the use is in the past.

13.01.2022 For our small business clients, here's a useful article about measuring costs from one of our expert colleagues who we call The Cash Flow Queen, Amanda Fisher

13.01.2022 A beautiful reminder about the power of modern medicine, and a reminder that not all modern medicine is listed on the PBS so cost can be a preventative. 10.01.2022 Key Business update for our clients, friends and supporters: Hello, My name is Drew Browne and Im the Founder & Director of Sapience Financial & Investment Services. Last year in late 2018 while talking about The Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry, a friend and client challenged me with the following comment:... " the standard you walk past is the standard youve decided to accept ". My company, Sapience Financial & Investment, and our private speciality brands, have always been prepared to stand up, to lead and to be part of the difference we want to see in the financial advice world around us. So we wanted to let you know about a change we have made. Financial Advice in Australia is delivered through a system of Licensees. That can be an individual or a company, and theyre both referred to as, an Australian Financial Services Licensee's (or AFSL, for short). I originally started providing financial advice services back in April 2004 through a licensee called Pivotal who later changed its name to Affinia. Today, fifteen years later, I have decided its time for me to make a change. In January this year 2019, I wrote an article titled, 'Frankly Im embarrassed about the Banks' where I made a public statement about my feelings on much of the reported terrible behaviours of big financial services. In February this year, the final report from The Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry was released. It named a long and detailed list of terrible actions imposed upon members of the public, many at the hands of big institutionally-owned financial service businesses. Shortly afterwards, I made the commercial decision to move away from big institutionally-owned financial service businesses, so we can put the very best interests of our clients, friends and supporters - first. Not those of big institutionally-owned organisations and their dictates. So what does that mean for you if youre a Sapience client? As of October 2019, after 15 years with the same licensee, I have now resigned from representing that institutionally-owned AFSL. I have now moved to Shartru Wealth, a proudly non-institutionally-owned AFSL, owned and run by Financial Advisers. What does that mean for our clients, friends and supporters? It's Financial Advice as usual; but with the freedom to continue to put your best interests, first. If youd like to chat more about our core beliefs of keeping greater transparency in Australian Financial Services, please get in touch. Drew Browne Adviser.

03.01.2022 The age of retirement is coming to us all. The question is not about at what age can I retire, but on what level of income? Here's a quick summary of what an Account-Based Pension (ABP) is. If you have an elderly relative working with an ABP, it's a good idea for you to understand how one works and how a COVID19 affects it this year.
