22.01.2022 Another lovely Watchlist review, this time from The Adelaide Show Podcast "This is one important action that I command you to undertake: buy a ticket and see this show. This is what modern, thoughtful entertainment is all about and it will leave a legacy of much food for thought to mull over while enjoying your next dinner with friends; whether that’s a steak dinner or a vegan feast." - Steve Davis http://www.bakehousetheatre.com/shows/watchlist

21.01.2022 The reviews are in and tickets to Watchlist at Bakehouse Theatre are selling fast. We run this week Tues - Sat at 7.30pm. Don't miss out...http://www.bakehousetheatre.com/shows/watchlist "Alex Vickery-Howe’s Watchlist is amusing, ambitious, provocative, and a sharp reminder that the changes we know we need to make as global citizens will not be easy, even if we agree to them. This production eases us in with its comedy, but leaves us staring at a plateful of unpalatable optio...ns." Murray Bramwell Indaily "A talented cast makes this a must see.Cloaked in mystery, Sortini shines as Delia. Sortini’s passionate angsty characterisation subverts the manic pixie dream girl trope as her relationship with Basil feels tangible despite the secrecy and strategy that lay beneath it. Noble’s portrayal of the boyish Basil becoming more confident throughout the show is brilliant." Helen Karakulak - Adelaide Theatre Guide "There are many gems which make Watchlist well worth the effort. Marie’s sharp tongue is a winner, while Norman’s shadowy character is a neo-noir triumph." Peter Burdon - The Advertiser "Watchlist is an outstanding and challenging piece of theatre that stays with you long after you’ve left the theatre. The ‘boy meets girl’ narrative turns from comedy to politics and back again so easily, yet it’s not satire: it’s a frustrated tale of the state of the world that signals virtue but actions nothing important, waiting for ‘some mythical grown-up to take care of it’. Whilst this play is a reflection of our own apathy we see in Roger, our resignation in Marie, and our fear of the surveillance-world through Norman in his many guises this is a call to arms: to be captivated by the planet as much as Basil is by Delia, indeed, as much as Delia is by Basil, for us to say her words: ‘I wasn’t supposed to like you this much’." Mark Wickett - Stage Whispers "There is an era of smart, sassy, homegrown theatre upon us and Alex Vickery-Howe’s Watchlist is a darkly stupendous example...buy a ticket and see this show. This is what modern, thoughtful entertainment is all about..." Steve Davis - The Adelaide Show Podcast "We watch avidly the rise and rise of Alex Vickery-Howe as an Australian playwright of substance. His latest work, Watchlist, has been lurking under covers of Covid to at last be revealed as a thrill of living theatre. This is a brave, bold, agit-prop piece. It is a didacticism-enabler. It is a work of passionate, acerbic, satiric prose." Samela Harris - The Barefoot Review

14.01.2022 Today is the United Nations WorldEnvironmentDay. South Australian Playwrights Theatre are thrilled to present Alex Vickery-Howe's Watchlist which runs at Bakehouse Theatre until June 12. It is a play that asks us to consider environmental apathy versus militant activism with humour and meaty issues to chew on aplenty - forgive the terrible pun. "We often think only of fossil fuels as the prime cause of climate change. In Watchlist, the unlikely hero, Basil Pepper, discovers... the true impact of the global livestock industry and leaves us all with food for thought." Murray Bramwell, InDaily In short, we couldn't be prouder of this creative team and producing a play that dares to ask big questions, but never for a moment forgets our humanity. A few tix left for tonight, and then we run Tues - Sat next week and we'd love to see you there to join in the conversation... http://www.bakehousetheatre.com/shows/watchlist

11.01.2022 Please meet our 'opening night' creative, the incredible Sascha Budimski. We are loving Sasha's sound design on Watchlist "Watchlist has been a great project for me to utilise a broad spectrum of sound design skills; creating textures, ambient layers, beats, foley and sound effects, voiceovers, a bizarre TV jingle (spoiler alert!) as well as finding and editing various commercial music which suits the flavour of the play. All these elements help to guide and inform the jour...ney our characters go on." Come experience the journey...Tonight sold out and we run until June 12 http://www.bakehousetheatre.com/shows/watchlist

09.01.2022 It's bump in day! To celebrate let's meet Monday's Watchlist creative, Katherine Sortini. Delia is such an interesting character and I have been obsessed with the dichotomy of her 'goodness' and her 'evilness.' She is fierce, intelligent and obsessive and borders the very blurry and grey line of being aggressively switched on and being true to yourself 24/7. She has a big heart. She cares. And, she doesn't care who gets in her way. My favourite line is: Our planet is termi...nally ill. Revolutions have been fought for far less. Catch the fearless Delia only at Bakehouse Theatre June 2-12. http://www.bakehousetheatre.com/shows/watchlist
