24.01.2022 Well, this is exciting! We’re almost at the end of a little project we’ve got going on out at the vineyard. A shed! And a fancy little shed it is too. This building will be ready for summer private wine tastings in no time, and while it won’t be a full cellar door, we will be holding tastings by appointment only. Can’t wait to show you the finished product

24.01.2022 Carla is back at the Southern Harvest Association Farmers Markets in Bungendore today, with the 2019 Shiraz Viognier and the new 2018 Entrechat. It’s a lovely morning and we’re all set up and ready to go. Love using the new shed at the vineyard as a back drop for our wine photos

24.01.2022 There are 3 tasting packs to choose from for this Friday’s virtual wine tasting with Emma from Pique Nique and Canberra Wine & Spirit Merchants, so head to their website, link below, get your order in and join us! https://www.canberrawineandspiritmerchants.com.au/podcasts It’s sure to be a lot of fun

23.01.2022 Head out to the cellar door tomorrow to see Carla and get the last of our 2019 whites before they’re all gone. We’re releasing the 2021 whites and rosé on the 19th June, only a few more tickets left for the event, head to the link below to grab yours now http://www.saplingyard.com.au//2021-vip-sapling-yard-vinta

22.01.2022 Spring only means one thing. Sparkling wine and the beach. Well, that’s two things, but you can only get one of those things here in Canberra and Bungendore, our 2017 Entrechat. The perfect match to day light savings and long sunny days, especially those when you manage a quick weekend down the south coast. Head to our website where we’ve got a list of all our stockists if you can’t make it to see us Southern Harvest Farmers Markets the next time we’re there http://www.saplingyard.com.au/

20.01.2022 Another great virtual wine tasting session with Lake George Winery and The Food and Wine Marshall on Friday night, this time with our SV and Sarah’s Pinot Noir, and a delicious cheese and chocolate platter from Fran. A great start to our weekend

19.01.2022 Really looking forward to getting back into pouring wine at outdoor markets with Malcolm pouring at the Cellar Door Dairy Road Markets on the 5th December. With 90 minute sessions across the 3 days, make sure you get your tickets booked in now

19.01.2022 Testing our barrel fermented Mourvèdre Rosé. This will be a very exciting wine to show you eventually! But while we wait for it to be ready, come into the cellar door this weekend for a seated tasting of our 2019 Gamay Pinot Noir Rosé. We’ll have reduced cellar door hours this weekend 12 til 3 and require you to mask up on entry, check in and ensure that you’re seated throughout the tasting, but we are definitely open for business

19.01.2022 Have you visited Capitol Bar and Grill QT Canberra? They’ve just been awarded 2 glasses in the Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards and have our Four Pinots by the glass. Pretty much matches most of the small plates put together by Chef Josh so you may need to order a bottle instead

18.01.2022 Just a quick note to let you know that we won’t be at the Southern Harvest Farmers Markets tomorrow, but we will be back on the 31st and we’ll have our brand spanking new 2018 Entrechat to show you We’re excited

18.01.2022 Did you miss our virtual tasting with Pique Nique and Canberra Wine & Spirit Merchants a few weeks ago? We had such a lovely time talking about and tasting our wines, and our chat is now available on the Canberra Wine and Spirit Merchants website via a podcast. Grab a bottle of your favourite Sapling Yard wine and your favourite spot and have a listen, a great way to wile away an afternoon https://www.canberrawineandspiritmerchants.com.au/podcasts

18.01.2022 Come on out to the cellar door today for a tasting with Carla. Well be open from 11am til 3pm, the fire will be going and Stuart from Harvest Fresh Bungendore has some wonderful cheese platters ready to go, a perfect match to our Four Pinots. See you soon .

18.01.2022 The cellar door will be open today from 12 til 3, Mal will be making sure that all our visitors are masked up when in side, seated for the entire tasting session and checking in via the QR code app. Please call ahead if you’re planning on visiting today so we can ensure we stay at the new Covid-19 capacity.

18.01.2022 Carla and Malcolm spent some time this week in the winery, testing the Chardonnay in barrel for oak integration and malo fermentation. 4 barrels of differing ages with fruit from the same vineyard, gives 4 different wines that will be blended in a few months to produce an amazing cool climate Chardonnay for you. We haven’t had a chardy for a couple of years so we’re really excited to be putting one out for 2021

17.01.2022 Did you know that the simplest pleasures in life are often the best. The Curmudgeon, our premium Shiraz is at home with the finest wagyu steaks or a homemade pepperoni pizza. We’ve just taken out a Silver at the 2020 ICC Sydney NSW Wine awards and we couldn’t be happier. Enjoy our Shiraz on all occasions, not just the best ... https://www.nswwine.com.au//2020NSWWINEAWARDS_medal_webres

16.01.2022 Farmer Carla in her first tractor. Getting ready to spray for downy mildew because of all of this rain! Loving the vivid greens of the vineyard, but the grass is pretty high and we need a good whole dry day to mow and spray, so that’s enough rain for now Carla will be at the Southern Harvest Farmers Markets in the morning, so grab yourself an umbrella and get down there, the new 19 SV and the 18 Entrechat will both be available for purchase

16.01.2022 Malcolm is pouring out wines at Canberra Wine & Spirit Merchants this afternoon from 5 til 7 so make sure you come on by, say hi and taste some wines

15.01.2022 What a night we had last night at the launch of The Curmudgeon at QT Canberra on the 15th Floor. Amazing food pairings from Chef Josh of Capitol Bar and Grill - Mimosa rock oysters with the Entrechat, roast beetroot, strawberries and straciatella with the Four Pinots, unctuous beef cheek with our 13, 17 and 18 shriaz viognier and a cheese plate with The Curmudgeon. Guests got to take home our yet to be released 19 SV, and with that view of the city after dark, it was a magical evening. Thanks to everyone who joined us last night, we hope you had a marvellous night

13.01.2022 While the competition is closed, we love that Travels with Michelle has one of our Four Pinots as her picnic wine of choice Visit Queanbeyan Palerang

13.01.2022 We couldn’t make wine this year, so we made beer instead. Catching up with Colin and Ian from Brew Your Own At Home this weekend, we put down our very first batch of red beer. Not unlike a Lambic Kriek, we’re using raspberries instead of sour cherries. Can’t wait until we’re ready to bottle and drink, just in time for Christmas

13.01.2022 Happy International Pinot Noir Day. We think we’ll crack open our ‘18 which just scored a 90 in the 2021 Halliday Wine Companion and see how it’s tracking. What Pinot are you pouring tonight? https://www.winecompanion.com.au//pinot-no/pinot-noir/2018

13.01.2022 An amazing line up with Pique Nique at the Canberra Winehouse today. Thanks so much for including us

13.01.2022 Thanks so much for the write up John, some lovely words said about our wines. Cheers Newcastle Herald

11.01.2022 So this happened yesterday! Super excited to introduce our first 2021 wines off the bottling line! The Four Pinots is now in a clear bottle but it’s the same beautiful wine as 2019 but maybe with a bit more flavour profile from the Pinot Noir this time. Then we’ve got 2021 Rosé hilltops Grenache and our Braidwood Gamay, the Lake George Riesling and the exclusive Braidwood Riesling. Be the first to get your hands on these new wines at the launch on the 19th June, tickets avai...lable in the link below http://www.saplingyard.com.au//2021-vip-sapling-yard-vinta Get excited!!

10.01.2022 Wednesday afternoon spent tasting. First up, testing the dosage level on our 2018 sparkling wine and very differing opinions on how dry we all like our sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay! Looking forward to showing it off. Next up, we tasted the ‘13 all the way though to the ‘16 Shiraz Viognier for our upcoming sold out launch of The Curmudgeon. The line up of wines will be cracking

10.01.2022 Mal will be pouring at the Dairy Road Market on Sunday now that they've cancelled Saturday's event due to rain. Hope you've got your tickets already, it's looking to be huge!

07.01.2022 We’re very excited to be launching our first premium Shiraz, The Curmudgeon, during the Canberra Wines Fireside Festival at a very special VIP dinner on the 15th Floor of QT Canberra on the 29th August from 6.30pm Overlooking Lake Burley Griffin and the bright lights of the Canberra City, enjoy a 3 course dinner, plus canapes matched to 6 Sapling Yard wines. The Curmudgeon is meant to soothe the most archaic bad tempered miser, and so it does with it’s dark berried hue, ri...chly spiced aromats and red currant lusciousness on the tongue. Start the evening with canapes matched to our Entrechat, il primo matched to our Four Pinots, il secondo to a flight of our 15, 16 and 18 shiraz viognier and a dolci to die for to match The Curmudgeon. Tickets will be extremely limited due to Covid-19 restrictions so you’d best get in quick. $160pp tickets are available on our website below http://www.saplingyard.com.au//the-curmudgeon-launch-vip-d

06.01.2022 Our 2021 Vintage Release event this Saturday has sold out. Due to covid capacity numbers and catering requirements we won't be able to take walk ins on the day. If you missed out on tickets to the launch of our 2021 whites and rose, we'll have the wines on tasting in a few weeks time, so keep an eye out on our socials for Cellar Door tasting opportunities.

06.01.2022 Don't forget to grab your wines and join us for a virtual wine tasting with Carla, Pique Nique at Canberra Wine & Spirit Merchants tomorrow night!

05.01.2022 Thanks so much for the glowing review. John Lewis from the Newcastle Herald has some lovely words to say about our wines https://www.newcastleherald.com.au//sapling-yard-success/

05.01.2022 We’re at the Southern Harvest Farmers Markets today, see you down there for some great fresh produce and wines

05.01.2022 The Curmudgeon, sitting pretty, in good company on the new bar The Italian Place. The perfect spot to sit and watch what’s going on in our favourite Italian restaurant, sipping a glass of our Shiraz and eating a plate of charcuterie and house pickles. Deliziosa

04.01.2022 Have you got your tickets to our Canberra Wines Fireside Festival dinner launch of The Curmudgeon at QT Canberra? Tickets are strictly limited due to covid-19 guidelines, not only will you get amazing food matched to 5 of our wines, be the first to see our reserve Shiraz, but you’ll also get to take home a bottle of our not yet released 2019 Shiraz Viognier. We appreciate our customers and want you to feel like a VIP on the night, so our gift to you is a bottle of our flagship SV that we think is an amazing wine already. http://www.saplingyard.com.au//the-curmudgeon-launch-vip-d

04.01.2022 Thanks to Karen Hardy from The Canberra Times for the mention of our Braidwood Riesling in this mornings round up of the Canberra Wines best of region according to James Halliday's in the 2021 Halliday Wine Companion. With a score of 94, James said: "Only 30 dozen made, fermented in stainless steel. Amazing - it's a powerhouse with intense unsweetened lime/lemon flavours. It's possible the level and nature of the acidity may upset some, but not me."... https://www.canberratimes.com.au//here-are-canberras-bes/

04.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the amazing hard working fathers who are with you and those who are not. Today we raise a glass and celebrate all the dads, especially Morry

03.01.2022 The recent rain has done wonders for the vineyard. Checking the vines for any sign of distress from all the water is important now, as sometimes there’s such a thing as too much of a good thing. But the Riesling looks marvellous, and we’ve got our fingers crossed for a bumper crop this year @ Bungendore, New South Wales

03.01.2022 Provisions Deli & Grocery has had a little makeover and the courtyard now looks pretty as a picture. If you’re going to Visit Queanbeyan Palerang make sure you call in to pick up all your deli needs and stay for for a cheese and charcuterie platter and a bottle of wine. The beautiful spring weather demands it

02.01.2022 Gorgeous rivers of Shiraz Viognier for our 2021 vintage as they were pressed. While it’s going to be quite a few months until our 2021 reds will be ready, we’ve still got our 2018 Pinot Noir, 2019 The Curmudgeon and 2019 Shiraz Viognier for tasting at the cellar door. Carla will be in the cellar door today so head on out this Queens birthday long weekend

01.01.2022 Nice review from Mike Bennie on The Wine Front this week with a 93 for our Bungendore Riesling, drinking perfectly for an upcoming warm spring. Tense and nervous riesling of tight, minerally texture, stipple point acidity, prickling lemony tang And yes, Bungendore does sound so Aussie. Cheers Mike ... https://www.winefront.com.au/sapling-yard-bungendore-riesl/
