This is Mark who first became a member of the Management Committee on 9 July 2008, making him one of the longest running member of the Committee. Mark has also been the Treasurer of the Foundation for many years. During this time Mark has seen the Foundation grow from donating around $50,000 per year to South Australian charitie...s to donating over $500,000 in 2018! Besides his Committee responsibilities, Mark has been a Relay For Life team member as well as a rider and organiser of Jims Lofty Ride and the Mercer SuperCycle fundraising events. 22.01.2022 With the very real issue of this pandemic going on and how it is affecting everyone, charities who already do it tough are now facing unprecedented times. One of those charities is Backpacks 4 SA Kids INC. who are enduring increased demand for their service. In support of the amazing work they do, we have donated $10,000 on behalf of all Employee Foundation contributors and look forward to helping out with volunteering once the proverbial dust settles.... The charities many people rely on during these tough times are themselves finding it tough. If you can, please consider reaching out to charities who are experiencing big falls in income, while demand for the services is sky-rocketing. Keep up the great work Backpacks 4 SA Kids INC!

22.01.2022 #Pupdate Jake is keeping his distance! Our sponsored hearing dog Jake has been socially distancing and enjoying his time the last few weeks while keeping his humans company. Australian Lions Hearing Dogs shared this update. Jake has been doing lots of nature walks due to COVID19 restrictions and seems to be enjoying himself a lot. He walks very nicely on the lead and doesnt pull at all. Jake was not too interested in meeting other dogs or playing with them when he first c...ame into training but since then he has come out of his shell and wants to meet every dog that we pass. He has made many friends at work who he loves to play with. We have met a lot of little kids on our walks and Jake loves getting pats from them. We have been working on commands such as sit, drop and wait and Jake is learning fast. He is very food motivated, which has made sound training easy. We could tell Jake was going to be a great worker after our first sound session. Jake runs so fast between the sounds that his feet struggle to gain traction on the floor, and he is almost running in place. He is hilarious to watch and so eager to work and learn. We have been playing hide and seek at the end of our sessions we will throw his ball and then hide, and he searches the entire training centre to find us. Jake has been learning some agility skills such as going over jumps, weaving and going up and down the ramp, which is his favourite. See more

22.01.2022 #Pupdate - We welcome Elle to the Australian Lions Hearing Dogs training program. Elle's training is proudly sponsored by the Employee Foundation and we wish her all the very best.

21.01.2022 National Sorry Day can evoke many feelings and emotions, for some, its a day for commemoration, mourning, reflection and reconciliation. Today marks 23 years since the Bringing Them Home Report which was tabled in conjunction with the National Inquiry into the separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities. It is such an important day to remember our Stolen Generations, their descendants, communities and healing that is still... ongoing. National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. Through song, dance, words, education and actions we see contributions to truth telling and healing within our community-healingfoundation.org.au Uniting Church in SA Hutt St Centre Operation Flinders Foundation Nature Foundation Cancer Council SA Cancer Council Flinders Lodge Leukaemia Foundation Childhood Cancer Association are just some of the charties we work with and support that provide assistance to our local South Australian Indigenous Aboriginal community via the means of ongoing support, accommodation, transport and importantly the education of Indigenous identity.

20.01.2022 In response to the unprecedented bushfires that faced South Australia, the SA Power Networks Employee Foundation established a SA Bushfire workplace fundraising... appeal to support the victims of those affected by the Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island bushfires. We are proud to announce that we have raised $35,660 for bushfire relief and the sum is being dollar-matched by #SAPowerNetworks. This means a total of $71,320 is being donated to the State Emergency Fund.

20.01.2022 With all that is going on, one could be excused for having a few bad hair days of late. Not our employee Sam from Mount Gambier, though! Sam had a goal of raising $3,500, and he blitzed that by raking in $6,000 for Cystic Fibrosis SA. He lost his hair and eyebrows in the process, but if he keeps drinking that good stuff from the Blue Lake, they will regrow back in no time Congratulations to Sam for his fundraising efforts and Cystic Fibrosis for all the excellent work you do for South Australians.

20.01.2022 #Pupdate - Veiko our sponsor dog training through the Operation K9 Program run by the Royal Society for the Blind (RSB) is doing exceptionally well. 18.01.2022 Day 1: It all starts today for our team who have joined The Push-Up Challenge. The challenge is a fun, social way to raise money for mental health charities while also boosting your own physical and mental wellbeing. The 21-day event encourages you and your friends to complete a set number of push-ups every day (the daily amount changes from day to day to keep you on your toes!). With a strong focus on mental health amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Employee Foundation are... encouraging SA Power Networks staff, their families and friends to test their strength, and sign up to the Push Up Challenge to raise funds for youth mental health. Its not too late to register, you can do so here > https://bit.ly/PushForBetter Organiser David says raising funds for organisations that support suicide prevention and promote mental health awareness during this time is vital. "We aim to raise money to support headspace - a national youth mental health organisation, as well as highlight the number of Australian lives being lost to suicide by increasing awareness of mental illness in the community," he says. "Each day, the target number of push-ups to complete will reflect a different statistic to do with mental health in Australia." #PushForBetter www.thepushupchallenge.com.au

10.01.2022 #PUPDATE - Last month we had our Christmas picnic and were lucky to have Jake & Raffles our sponsored Australian Lions Hearing Dogs in attendance. Both were friendly and confident around people, animals and show rides. It was an excellent chance for them to meet everyone and also a great environment for them to be exposed to. The pups + their trainers had a wonderful time. We sponsor both Jake & Raffles for training to help people with a hearing impairment, and they are doing a great job at helping their owners. 05.01.2022 This week, during #NationalVolunteerWeek, we say thanks to the many Foundation volunteers who keep things ticking. One of those volunteers is Vicki; she is one of our amazing volunteers who has been the backbone and stalwart of the Foundations biggest fundraising event Belair Relay For Life. In 2018, Vicki clocked up her tenth consecutive Relay For Life, seeing the event grow from its conception to the marvellous event it is today. Thanks to Vickis catering efforts, many ...a weary and hungry relayer has been fed and revived. Vicki and her family have also been tireless fundraisers for Relay For Life through their annual Christmas raffle. Besides her involvement in Relay For Life, Vicki is always involved in helping to arrange and cater for various morning teas, and never shies away when asked. Vickis willingness to be involved is an organisers dream and a blessing to the Foundation. Thank you Vicki and Happy National Volunteer Week! Volunteering SA&NT

Thank you to SA Power Networks and Enerven for their amazing support in making good things happen, and thanks again to all the people who step up to make a difference in the South Australian community - you are changing lives for the better every day.

01.01.2022 Last month in response to the bushfires that went through the state and nation, we thought it was only right to engage with the Nature Foundation SA and donate $10k to help aide them in the phenomenal work they do. The funds donated to the Wildlife Recovery Fund will be spent on bushfire affected areas including Kangaroo Island (214,000 hectares), Adelaide Hills (30,000 hectares) and the South-East (30,000 hectares). Approximately 274,000 hectares have been affected in total.... Nature Foundation SA in partnership with the National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia is rising to the challenge. Together they have established the Wildlife Recovery Fund to help the recovery of native plants and animals, including threatened and vulnerable species, over the next 5 to 10 years. The Wildlife Recovery Fund takes a long-term strategic approach to re-establish critical habitat and undertake priority recovery actions in South Australia. They are doing fantastic work to help our environment get back on track. Pictured is a Koala hanging about in KI near American River last month.
