24.01.2022 Ok so some news just in from the ADA...Australian Dental Association. We are moving to Level 3 restrictions which effectively means our practice is closed to ALL work except severe emergencies. Dentists and their team are at high risk because of the aerosol generated during treatment procedures. Covid-19 virus is highly infectious and long-lasting and despite outstanding infection control procedures we have in place this virus is deemed as still an unacceptably high risk. A...s of today ONLY true emergencies will be seen. A true emergency would include facial swelling, trauma (accidents) and severe uncontrolled pain. A bit of sensitivity, chipped tooth, lost filling etc DO NOT constitute a true emergency under the revised guidelines. Its with a heavy heart we have to close but it is for the greater good of the community. If you have a genuine emergency PLEASE call and you will be consulted with and relief treatment organised. PLEASE stay safe everyone and follow the social distancing rules. This is a terrible disease and we do need to pull together as a community to get through this. Craig Newman

22.01.2022 This is long, but a great article by a colleague and friend of mine from Sydney. Dr Brett Taylor Universal Precautions: What you can learn from your Dentist For the last 30 years, every dentist in every western country has assumed every patient has AIDS and Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. For the last 20 years we've also assumed you've got Mad Cow Disease as well....Continue reading

04.01.2022 Sapphire Dental Care would like to thank each and every patient we have contacted this week. Thank you for your understanding and compliance with rescheduling appointments. Thank you for helping make a very tough and emotional job so much easier. This week has shown us how truly blessed we are with having such amazing patients. We cannot thank you enough and we look forward to seeing you at your next appointment. If there is anything we can help with whilst we are down please contact us....see you on the other side.

02.01.2022 The Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic is an event like nothing we have ever seen. The measures being put in place by world authorities are an absolute necessity if we are to control this outbreak. After lengthy discussions with my team at Sapphire Dental Care, we have decided to take additional precautions to help ensure we can remain open and functioning as long as possible, and continue to provide the essential dental services to this community. We plan to divide the practice... into two teams. Each will work on a week on/ week off with no social interaction between the groups. This will hopefully ensure the practice can remain up and running if anyone from either team is exposed or becomes ill and that team is forced to self-isolate. This strategy will require some re-arranging of appointments and some flexibility on your part with regards to dates and times may be necessary. We apologise for any inconvenience it causes. Our dental surgery adheres to the highest infection control standards set down by law, as do all other dental practices. As a healthcare setting, we are exempt from the latest Social Distancing Rules; however, we will comply with them as much as possible. For example, we aim to lengthen dental appointments to eliminate (as far as practicable) time in the reception area, thus minimising potential interaction between clients. Where possible we are going to request that you come alone to your appointments. Please pre-arrange baby-sitters for kids and leave partners at home unless absolutely necessary. These are strange times, but they will pass. It's been a tough few months, but I know our community can get through this. I look forward again to the day we can all gather at Parkrun, socialise in our favourite cafes, and find that human contact that is so important once again. Stay safe, heed the warnings and look after yourselves, and your loved ones. If you are at home alone and need support with shopping or other tasks, feel free to contact our team and we will support you where possible. We are healthcare workers not just dentists.....Love to everybody. Craig
