Over the weekend some of these were stolen from her garden and Diana was heart broken. Today thanks to convoy of hope and tafeNSW we delivered a load of new plants to Diana. She was very grateful.

19.01.2022 The Cobargo Bushfire Relief Centre has now settled into its new premises at 22-34 Princes Highway Cobargo. Opening hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10.00...-4.00 and Saturday 10.00-2.00. There is a huge range of warm clothes, wonderful waterproof jackets, bedding, sleeping bags, warm socks, a selection of tools and household goods, toiletries and beanies scarves and gloves. We hope you will find the new premises a warm and welcoming place to come and pick up some supplies, have a chat and get up to date, accurate information. We can also help with grant applications, put you in touch with case workers, advocate on your behalf with agencies and assist with administrative work. This has been a time of re-energising and renewal for the Relief Centre, with our new premises, some new volunteers (Jan, Kaddie and Cathy) coming on board to join stalwarts Liz, Rhonda, Anunda and Chelsea. Helen has also returned from her travels and will be in store from time to time. We have incorporated to become a Not for Profit Association with a committee of seven dedicated people who believe in our purpose and vision to Receive and distribute goods and services to bushfire affected people in Cobargo and district, as well as refer people to welfare services where applicable. To provide information from services and agencies to assist people with their recovery. To provide a safe haven for bushfire affected people and to liaise with other community based relief centres. The committee members are: Josh Clapp, Cassie King, Liz Martin, Danielle Murphy (President), Linda Sang, Tess Spicer and Chris Walters (Secretary/Treasurer). In addition to the regular donations and provision of goods and services, the Cobargo Bushfire Relief Centre works with large corporations to provide goods or grants. We have already negotiated the provision of over $30,000 worth of tools to bushfire affected members of the Bega Valley community and were successful in securing funding for over 200 IBC water tanks for those most in need of water security. We are currently seeking funding grants to enable us to provide more assistance to members of the community who may need an extra bit of help that the standard avenues have not yet provided. We would like to thank the Minderoo Foundation, Cobargo Community Bushfire Recovery Fund and Anglicare for provision of funds to enable us to move into our new premises and keep us operating for the next 12 months. We do hope you will drop in and visit us, have a cuppa and a chat and see how we can help you, or alternatively, how you may be able to help us. See more

12.01.2022 Hello fresh boxes have been a massive hit with our customers that have been affected by the summer bushfires. The boxes have been going to homes in Boydtown, Pericoe, kiah, Wyndham, bemboka, bega, Quaama and Coolagolite and our drivers are racking up some hours and kilometres every week. The chats upon delivery are way more important than the boxes but the boxes are gratefully received. This is an 8 week program that we are hoping will continue for a while longer. This week is week 4. A huge thank you to Hello fresh, Foodbank, Bobbins and our delivery drivers Neal, Pauline, Angie and Narelle.

A huge thank you to Bega Valley Nissan for the loan of the 2 vehicles for the past 5 months. Now its time to pray for a new vehicle! 10.01.2022 WONBOYN ROAD REOPENED Wonboyn Road at Water Gums Bridge has been reopened. A Council crew will be back onsite on Tuesday to finish repairs, however the road is now accessible. Thank you for your patience!
10.01.2022 It’s been a busy month preparing for Christmas, Christmas hampers and our gingerbread house making events all on top of running our community food pantry. Some other things we’ve been a part of this month are... We purchased some play equipment for a family in the Quaama area who lost their house and everything on their property. The one thing they wanted the most at this point in time was something for the kids to play on. The next couple live on a property in Wandella. The... NYE firestorm destroyed everything there, including the bridge crossing/access to their property.. They did repair the crossing, so as to return living on their block but the recent flooding in Wandella has since washed that access away, again. So SLO paid for a local contractor to build them a new one. We also purchased a generator for a gentleman down south. It’s been on order for a while and finally arrived! We were able to purchase a caravan and a custom built solar system for a man who is now finally able to move back onto his block after renting in Pambula over the winter. All of this is made possible through your generosity so thank you. See more
10.01.2022 It’s happening and it’s happening next week! Even though I can’t personally attend this year I’m happy to enter a team of 10 so please let me know if you wish to be a part of this fabulous event.
09.01.2022 For all those customers in the Bemboka area this will be happening this Sunday.

The funding will be allocated to Bega Valley Shire Council, who’ll work with both communities to restore their beloved halls - creating jobs for locals.
09.01.2022 Some days are hard to explain as anything other than different. Today was one of those. It was a blessing, emotional, joyful, interesting, funny, inspiring...you name it, today was it! I as SLO CEO along with my family and the SLO community chaplain and her family headed off early this morning to deliver plants (thanks to convoy of hope and TafeNSW) to Peter of Verona and Stefan of Coolagolite. We were also delivering a car to Stefan so he can collect wood around his prope...rty (thanks to Andrew and Kristie from Goodyear autocare Merimbula). As we arrived at our first destination we missed Petes driveway resulting in one of the vehicles getting stuck in a ditch. Within a few minutes Ian from Verona came out in his excavator to pull the car out so we thanked him with a plant and discovered he too was fire affected when he told us about his burnt down shed and showed us a row of burnt trees around his house which thankfully he was able to save when he stayed to protect his home 9 months ago. We then found the correct driveway and met up with Pete and Janice who are now living in a shed on their property after they lost their home in the Dec/Jan fires. We gave them a tray of plants, had a lovely chat and the kids loved playing with the dogs & getting chased by insects . SLO will be helping them with some fencing material over the coming weeks. We then headed to Coolagolite to meet Stefan. What a man! What a property! He loved the car (milk truck), loved having visitors (especially the kids), served up a mean cuppa and morning tea, loved receiving the tray of plants and was grateful for some batteries for his ghetto blaster (no power or running water at Stefans place). This man was inspiring, funny, thoughtful and resilient. We got back (rather dirty) just in time for church and when I asked the kids at church what was the thing they were the most grateful for this weekend one answer was meeting Stefan. Thanks to everyone involved in pulling all of this off including Jeremy for driving the milk truck, the Winiata and Fernando families, Ian, Pete, Stefan, Convoy of Hope, TafeNSW, Goodyear Autocare and all supporters of SLO (you guys ).
