23.01.2022 The final day of Dental Health Week 2020. We’ve enjoyed sharing some important information with you and hope you found interest in it too! Let’s wrap it up with top points to help maximise your oral health through your grocery shop: Remember those nutritional labels- compare labels and choose a brand/alternative lower in sugar. Check the daily intake guide - for a recommendation of intake included in each serve. Those foods high in sugar usually contain more calories a...nd fewer other nutrients therefore they are likely to affect your health in many other ways as well. Choose crunchy fruits and vegetables that haven’t had their goodness processed out of them. Limiting not just sugar but acidity in drinks - add some water in there. Lets not forget the most important of all.... Brush properly twice a day with Fluoride toothpaste, make flossing just as important and don’t forget your tongue! The best of all see your dentist at least twice a year!

20.01.2022 Sapphire Smiles Dental Care is looking for a wonderful staff to join us.

17.01.2022 Saturday and soft drink. Did you ever do that experiment cleaning a coin in coca-cola? As most people are aware sugary drinks cause tooth decay but the other underlying factor in soft drinks is the acidity. So, even those sugar free drinks aren’t leading you into a safe zone. As you sip, these ongoing acids attack and weaken your tooth enamel. We aren’t telling you never have them again but a good place to start is limiting, rinsing your mouth with water afterwards and making sure you are still brushing your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste

17.01.2022 You know that saying you are what you eat, well it’s true! Did you know the first area of your body to decline when your diet is less than ideal is your oral health. Here’s some of the top foods that only improve your diet but the health of your mouth also: Cheese - calcium and proteins, (helping strengthen tooth enamel) and a study found the eating cheese raises the PH in your mouth lowering the risk of tooth decay. Yoghurt - high in calcium and protein and a great pro...biotic for oral health (be careful to choose a plain yoghurt as the flavoured ones have lots of sugar). Leafy Greens - packed full of vitamins and minerals, high in calcium and also contain folic acid. Apples - the good natural sugar high in fibre and water. Whilst eating an apple, the excess saliva you produce also helps rinse away bacteria and food particles. Carrots - vitamin A and Fibre. Raw carrots also increase saliva production which helps to reduce cavities. Celery - vitamins A and C (great antioxidants for healthy gums) Almonds - calcium and protein and low in sugar. See more

10.01.2022 Tips to shop healthy! Checking the nutritional information Watch out for other words used to describe added sugars such as sucrose, glucose, fructose, corn syrup, maltose and hydrolysed starch Choose foods with less than 15 grams of sugar per 100 grams (consume no more than 6 teaspoons/24 grams of sugar per day). Why not try swapping out the morning tea cake for a piece of fruit ... Buy canned fruit in juice or water instead of syrup Try a banana on toast instead of fruit spread/jams Choose a breakfast cereal that aren’t coated with sugar See more
