12.01.2022 For all those wondering about the Landline 30th birthday quilt, it's coming along nicely! We received 364 squares in total, covering every aspect of life on th...e land. The wonderful team at the Queensland Spinners Weavers and Fibre Artists are putting them together, using sustainable Queensland cotton for the backing. And because there are way too many squares for just one quilt, they're making three! They'll hang in a triptych when they go on display. Thank you to everyone who sent us your beautiful work! We loved opening the packages and reading your stories.

10.01.2022 Cindy Bell Neville's quilt, Lizzy's Jumping Jacks, won Honorable Mention - Wall Quilt at the 2021 Virtual Spring Quilt Festival. Cindy's says of her inspiration, "Lizzy's Jumping Jacks was inspired by the book Lizzy Albright and the Attic Window by Ricky Tims and Kat Bowser. During Lizzy's journey in a magic land, she comes across flowers called Jumping Jacks. 04.01.2022 "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Quilt Show!" #12 I have been fortunate enough to win 14 awards at Houston Quilt Festival over my 16 years competing. T...his is the first your I have not entered since 2014. 2006 was a VERY good year for me, I actually was awarded 3 prizes through different international competitions, 2 of which the prize included the all expenses paid trip to Houston. As I had won this via 2 different international companies, I was given 2 "tickets". This had never happened before in IQA Houston history. After this inaugural occurrence , IQA changed the entry rules so it never happens again. That’s the first time a rule has been amended because of me but not the last time. The third quilt that won me an award that year was "Daisy Dilemma", a 2 sided bleach painted quilt which I maintained both sides of the quilt were equally important. The quilt was hung with no quilt behind it so it could be viewed from both sides easily. That was a first. The IQA rules were then amended to say that when entering a 2 sided quilt, the quilter must nominate 1 side to be judged and displayed. I do seem to unintentionally rock the boat. Imagine what I could achieve if I actually tried! See more
