23.01.2022 Pink dragonfruit, it tastes as beautiful as it looks! Paired with gut loving unsweetened Greek yoghurt and sugar balancing cinnamon, a perfect morning snack

23.01.2022 When we are stressed, we often lack time and energy. We feel stretched and tired, cranky and emotional. And then self-care tends to become less healthy (how much wine are you drinking?) or drop off our list of priorities all together. Yet, this is the time we need to take care of ourselves more than ever. There are usually certain actions that give us a lifeline - an anchor in the storm. Something that supports us best during stressful times. For some it may be exercise, fo...r others it may be healthy food. Meditation and exercise are my two favorites - yet my biggest anchor is reading. I love a good story! What are your anchors?

22.01.2022 And tell me, how many of you starting singing the songs?! I know I did!

22.01.2022 Pina colada in a bowl - absolutely! Pineapples are an amazing source of Vitamin C as well as digestive enzymes. These help break down food and are anti-inflammatory. Swapping out the rum for collagen provides much needed amino acids for mood, muscles and energy. https://autoimmunewellness.com/pina-colada-smoothie-bowl/

21.01.2022 During sleep our bodies rest, repair and recover. If youre not waking in the morning feeling refreshed or able to get through the day with ease and grace, then its likely that youre not getting enough sleep which can have a huge impact on our wellbeing. This blog gives you some ideas on how to improve your sleep. https://www.saraknight.com.au//2019/7/16/sleep-getting-it-

20.01.2022 We all lead busy, demanding lives short deadlines, often always switched on for work, constant contact via email, phone and social media. Stress is a constant concern for all my clients. Stress also impacts your gut health. Here are my tips to increase your stress resilience which will trickle down to your gut health. Id love to hear your stress-busting techniques! https://www.saraknight.com.au//2/11/21/gut-and-stress-link

20.01.2022 When it comes to managing stress, one of the more difficult parts is recognising we are indeed stressed. This is where our "red flags" come into the picture. Red flags are those actions or behaviours that indicate we need to slow down and take care of ourselves that much more. For one client it is having two cups of coffee, not just her normal one cup. For another client, it is not exercising. For me, it is usually my mindset - I become more reactive, negative. Love to hear yours!

19.01.2022 I am eating less and less carbs as time goes on - I feel so much better for it. But I do find that low carb may mean high dairy or just lots of bacon. Both of which, I also limit my intake. So it is great to find my favourite breakfast done well. Although kale is often vilified, the baby kale is quite nice. https://thenourishedcaveman.com/kale-and-eggs-benedict/

19.01.2022 And I come up with some pretty interesting lyrics as a result :)

17.01.2022 Wondering how to give your immune system the boost it needs? Good immune health means less time feeling ill and more time enjoying the cooler weather (if we are able to get out ). See my 8 tips to help build a strong immune system: https://www.saraknight.com.au///immune-boosting-for-winter

15.01.2022 Both tuna and pistachios are high is Vitamin B6. B6 is used to make neurotransmitters, especially serotonin and GABA - our feel good brain chemicals and supports nervous system function generally. An ideal way to use food as medicine for anxiety. https://www.eatingwell.com//252204/pistachio-crusted-tuna/

15.01.2022 I often find that people need permission - permission to say no, permission to put themselves first. Although I dont think it is mine to give, I see people change when I let them know it is okay. So where are you not acting, not changing because you think you need permission?

13.01.2022 Is the candida in your system your friend or foe? Maintaining the delicate balancing act can be tricky, but not difficult when you know how. www.saraknight.com.au/blog/2019/5/22/candida-friend-or-foe

12.01.2022 It would be nice if it was just one thing that could give you perfect sustainable health. Just one thing that would calm your gut, clear your skin or allow you to live with ease. Instead, it is usually a lot of little things together that create health. Set yourself up to succeed by looking at what you eat, how you move, how well you sleep, how you think, how you connect to find all those things that make up your best health!

12.01.2022 Anxiety isn't just a mental thing. It can have significant impact on your body too, particularly your gut health. I often see that worry and stress in the mind will then impact the gut. And vice a versa. They are interlinked in both physical and biochemical ways. If you need help with your anxiety and gut health, please reach out. You don't have to suffer alone.

11.01.2022 Love the simplicity yet versatility of this recipe. The sweet potatoes are a great source of both soluble and insoluble fibres. Soluble fibres help us to stay regular by softening our stools and insoluble add bulk. Short chain fatty acids, the food source for our gut cells, are made by bacteria fermenting fibre. Everybody wins! https://cutoutthecrap.com.au/project/29083/

11.01.2022 I love this - grow through hardship, heed the lesson, see the positive

10.01.2022 To be able to take care of others, we need to first take care of ourselves. Just like we are taught during flight safety announcements, we need to put our own mask on before helping others. Heres my tips on learning to put yourself first. https://www.saraknight.com.au//24/who-is-taking-care-of-you

09.01.2022 Often our breakfasts are heavy on the carbohydrates and light on the vegetables. This recipe show how easy (make the potatoes during your Hour of Power on Sunday to make it easier again) and whip up on a cold dreary morning. Asparagus is high in fibre (good for bowel regularity and hormonal balance) as well as Vitamin B9 or folate. Folate is important for mood and detoxification. http://www.eatingwell.com//250430/potato-asparagus-mushro/

09.01.2022 As a child, I detested Brussel sprouts. The one time I had them they were boiled to the point of having no colour and were slimy. The memory was so strong that I have only just recently starting eating them again. Oh what a yummy little package! Plus, they are high in fibre, Vitamins C and K as well as omega-3 fatty acids. https://avocadopesto.com/brussel-sprout-salad-apples-almon/
