23.01.2022 These are the colours I am seeing outside my studio windows at the moment. For me, it is the time for lattes, scarves, stormclouds, mountain walks and thirsty fields of dried grass. In our local Gariwerd Aboriginal calendar, it is honey bee season (Gwangal Moronn), noted for warm, still days, cool mornings, bright red sunrises and golden evenings. 22.01.2022 This one is near and dear to my heart. My dad was a hobby beekeeper; since I was young, he's taught me everything I know about bees. After settling into my own place in the country, I wanted my own hives. I have had a love of beekeeping for nearly my entire life (even despite recently discovering I am anaphylactic! Yikes!) So, naturally, working with the Blossom and Bee label was a beautiful experience. I put my heart into everything I do, but this one tugged at a few sentime...ntal heart-strings. The honey packaging is gorgeous - beautiful gold foil printed on the most amazing olive green paper stock. (Anyone else on the hunt for amaaaazing paper stock for their packaging?) The branding and packaging highlight the small-batch boutique comb honey. Attention to detail, minimalist design and unique printing showcase quality and care. 15.01.2022 Well hi! Let me introduce myself! A few fun tidbits on the face behind the designs! My name is Sara Bowers, Owner and Creative Director of Studio 8. I established Studio 8 in San Francisco way back in 2001! My fuel seriously good strong coffee and my passion for design.... My loves almond croissants, camping in the middle of nowhere, painting, a glass of red under the stars, my family, new socks, wandering the mountains, yoga, sculpting, rock climbing, café breakfasts, nature, happy dogs. My motivations living at the foothills of a National Park and waking to birdsong and the sunrise on the mountains, my daughter’s laugh. My background originally from the green, rainy Pacific Northwest USA. Moved to brown, dry Australia in 2003 (and adore it). Studio 8 has been run from San Francisco, Melbourne and now in the heart of the beautiful Grampians VIC. My historical references I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design from Seattle Pacific University, a minor in Business Administration, a diploma in Desktop Production from the Art Institute of Seattle and training in photography from Photography Studies College in Melbourne. I have marketing, design and project management expertise, as well as experience in agency, in-house, and freelance design. My style has been shaped by formal training in America, Europe, and Australia in the areas of design, art, architecture and photography. My art my contemporary artworks are a response to Australian nature in the form of encaustic works on paper, paintings, and sculptures in stone and wood.
