25.01.2022 This is an important one for this time of the year. Consistency with your movement, your nutrition and your well-being (sleep, stress balance etc). These things tie together to make us feel good (or not so good). Being consistent is what will get you through the silly season and will set you up for success well into the New Year #mondaymotivation #choices #wellbeing #consistencyiskey
24.01.2022 I’ve seen this one before but thought this time I’d share. I have learnt so much and continue to learn from my own children. I have two daughters who are introverts (and two sons, who are not). On the sliding scale one is an extreme introvert while the other pushes more towards the middle at times. When I watch this clip all I see is my 16 year old daughter. Everything that is described is her. I shared this this clip with her and her sister about a year ago, to show them t...hat some parts of socity do see, hear, understand and appreciate their quieter nature. However there is still a long way to go. I share this clip now in a hope to educate just a few more people of the true gift of an introvert. Introverts are not strange. Have you ever considered an extrovert different? Society generally praises the extrovert, they are they life of the party or office space. While introverts often get labelled as serious, rude, unsociable and shy. It’s simple not the case. My girls have a lot to say but it’s the way in which we give them opportunity to speak and how we choose to listen that is so important. I find it fascinating. Learning to understand and communicate with my introverted girls has been the key and continues to be the key in their personal successes and ours as a family unit.

23.01.2022 HAPPY SATURDAY!! It’s meant to be pouring with rain here in Hobart all weekend, so looks like I’ll be getting stuck into some spring cleaning (and I might sneak away to watch a bit of hockey too) But, I thought it was a perfect chance for me to recognise all those new mums and dads out there! There have been quite a few new additions within my world in recent months and I just wanted to take a few minute to say congratulations!! Not only that though, parenthood can be h...ard, relentless and exhausting, particularly in those first few weeks when everyone is still getting to know each other. Remember that no two pregnancies, labour’s, births or babies are going to be the same. As parents we are all different and how great is that! Lean on each other for tips and tricks and absolutely find your people BUT don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself or your baby! This can be a deep, dark all consuming hole that does not benefit anyone So remember as new parents don’t set the bar too high, ask and accept help, be honest with your partner when times are tough and look after yourself! Enjoy your new baby, don’t be too rigid, get some fresh air and be confident to be you Note: Hindsight is a wonderful thing. My first born could have done with someone giving me the same kind of tips PS None of my four kids were sleepers. I was exhausted for a decade, so this illustration made me laugh Helenetheillustrator check out her page for more very real parenting experiences

19.01.2022 I love this! Empower your kids! They can do anything. We are still very good at labelling our kids and placing them into a box with comments like oh they will definitely go to Uni or on the flip side Uni is not for her. Either way, support their passion. If they are uncertain about a career path because they don’t think they are good enough - change YOUR language around this. Our kids are lucky, they have so many opportunities now and so many pathways available to them. Support your kids so they can be the best version of themselves.

15.01.2022 Hi I haven’t introduced myself in a while. My name is Sarah, I’m a mum to four kids - two girls aged 16 and almost 14 and two boys aged 12 (in two days) and 9, wife and sport & outdoor lover Born and raised in Launceston, I have called Hobart home for a long time now. We’ve done stints living in Melbourne and Brisbane at various times over the years. Fun Fact #1 - I met my husband when I was 18 and we’ve been married for 18 years! ... Fun fact #2 - We have two Tassie born kids (the first and last), the second born is a Victorian and the third born is a Queenslander Football teams are crazy in our family! I love sport and being outside. I’ve played hockey for over 30 years. I’m lucky that one of my jobs is teaching kids to play hockey I also love bike riding and bushwalking and most recently bouldering. One of my sons is a crazy rock climber, so now I join in! I’m the person that feels more comfortable behind the camera and behind the scenes and I’m not crazy about splashing photos of our kids all over Facebook. I’m a local Fitness Trainer specialising in women’s health and training Mums I base myself out of Freedom Fitness and run a 8-week Mums specific program called Freedom for Mums. Freedom for Mums was born out of my own need to strengthen my body post four kids My core was shot, my back ached constantly and being a sporty person I needed to fix it! As a society we don’t think twice about rehabbing an injury yet women don’t give themselves the time to rehab after childbirth. Ignoring our changed bodies, aches, pains and ongoing weaknesses can potentially lead to more complicated and frustrating problems down the track (I’ll put my hand up here , I’ve been rehabbing a hip problem all year). So if you are a mum; please prioritise your own health. Mums carry around a heap of mum guilt. They put everyone else first and rarely address their own physical, mental and emotional needs. The ball is rolling in the right direction but we can always do better! If you are keen to start moving again after kids please send me a message. I’d love to help you. @bodybeyondbaby @freedomfitness

13.01.2022 Another good weekend or school holiday read
11.01.2022 I have learnt so much and continue to learn from my own children. I have two daughters who are introverts (and two sons, who are not). On the sliding scale one is an extreme introvert while the other pushes more towards the middle at times. For years I have listened to my eldest daughters teachers concerns about her quiet nature. She’s not considered the same as the other kids (and at 16, still isn’t and I’m not unhappy about that). She isn’t talkative, appears serio...us, has friends but is happy enough being alone. It wasn’t until she was in high school that I read the definition of an introvert. This was a light bulb moment. This is my daughter. It was such a relief for me to finally be reading something that made sense! Like anything that isn’t considered the norm in todays society people can feel nervous by perceived differences. Thankfully there does seem to be a slow shift in recognising the various personality traits of individuals. The next step is trickier, actually accepting these qualities as positives, utilising their strengths and learning to communicate effectively. Be part of the change. Society generally praises the extrovert, they are often the life of the party or office space and most importantly, easy to talk too. While introverts are labelled as serious, rude, unsociable and shy. It’s simple not the case though. My girls have a lot to say but it’s the way in which we give them the opportunity to speak and how we choose to listen that is so important! I find it fascinating. Learning to understand and communicate with my introverted girls has been the key and continues to be the key in their personal successes and ours as a family unit. Next time you find yourself judging a quiet person (because that’s what we do). Take a minute to consider why we choose to label the quiet person but not the confident I posted a great clip on my Facebook page - check it out. 11.01.2022 REAL MUMS REAL STORIES Woohoo!!! We are so excited to introduce you to Brittiney. Here is her #nomoreprebabybody message... "To me #nomoreprebabybody doesn't just speak for the body, it speaks for the mind too! Once we become mums, we can lose who we are so easily. ... Not only do we look in the mirror and see our pre baby body is no more, but we are also try to stay so strong because we are the mother of the family, we are the leaders. Deep down we are drowning and don't know where or who to turn to for help. My journey was not just about weight loss, it was never to recover my pre baby body, it was to find myself, to learn to love myself again, to challenge myself to beat my depression and anxiety. Once I became a mum,I lost the motivation to do anything for myself. I felt guilty, like I was being selfish. It mutated into a mental block where I just couldn't do anything for myself at all. I learned to push those barriers. I’ve finally gained control of my mind, through exercise I’ve learned how to challenge myself, how to be motivated again and smile every day. Each day I get closer to loving my body, and I'm ok with that. Things take time." You ROCK Brittany To join our mission take a photograph of YOURSELF, alone, with your kids or friends wearing something that represents this message for you with the #nomoreprebabybody hashtag written on your, your clothing or the image. Tag @bodybeyondbaby and share with us (and the world) so you can be represented too & so more and more women can see that no one size fits all and we are all BRAVE and STRONG and ENOUGH. We are all in this together and we can create real change!

10.01.2022 Merry Christmas from Hobart! I spent a lovely day with family, walked the dog, enjoyed some yummy food and watched the kids swim. Looking forward to an early night and a lazy Boxing Day morning #christmas #tassie #hobart #relax #recharge #family
09.01.2022 Whether you are carrying the washing basket or the kids - with or without pain. There is a right way to go about doing it. Hit the link to read the full article by @ladybirdpt Also, you can’t piggy back the washing but you can the kids, that was my go to - just ensure you are still activating your lower abdominals
09.01.2022 The #nomoreprebabybody campaign is back for 2020! Myself and the entire Body Beyond Baby affiliate team are pushing hard for change. We are determined to change the attitude of the fitness industry and our community by removing the pressure on new mums to get their "pre baby bodies" back. #nomoreprebabybody for me means having the confidence to wear bathers or a nice dress without feeling insecure. For those who know me or have seen me probably think this is a silly stateme...nt...... I have a small figure so what's my problem you may ask? I've had four children, my body is not the same as it was pre kids and never will be. It took me QUITE a few years to accept this and to be happy with it. Women come in all shapes and sizes and these shapes and sizes change pre and post birth. The commentary and focus on the way a mum looks needs to stop A woman's body is bloody amazing!! Let's be strong and confidence women! Feel good about ourselves and thrive

04.01.2022 Who can relate?! You can not wipe the smile off my face this morning. Knowing that there are no lunch boxes to pack, kids to get sorted and busy school run makes my heart sing That morning rush is full on in most households I’d image and can create a whole lot of stress It’s such a relief knowing that the pressure is off for the next couple of weeks Obviously there are other juggles, parents working and childcare, but for this moment I’m enjoying the calm. I’m also ver...y aware that other families around Australia and the world who have been in lockdown are not feeling the same way. They are looking forward to having a regular morning routine, the kids starting school, seeing friends again and feeling normal. Completely understandable! There are a lot of parents out there who will be craving some alone time. 2020 has been tough. Remember to pick up the phone and reach out to your friends and family (now and always) Whatever situation you are in as a parent, give yourself a big pat on the back. You are doing an amazing job (and enjoy no lunchboxes for 2 weeks)
03.01.2022 Monday is a day for planning my week, writing lists that I can cross off, ordering groceries and getting some housework done #mumlife right It is however, essential for my emotional and mental well-being that my week includes exercise! For you it may be walking with a friend pushing the pram, riding your bike with the kids, playing a team sport or squeezing in a couple of gym sessions. Whatever you choose, make sure you prioritise that time and include it in your weekly p...lan - otherwise I can guarantee it will not happen. Mums always put themselves last unless we CHOOSE to put us first The Mums in this picture chose to put themselves first to attend my 6 week Freedom for Mums class and it was fab! So many have continued on with our regular classes Enjoy your Monday and contact me today if I can help prioritise your health + well-being #freedomformums #freedomfitness #womenshealth #hobart #safereturntoexercise #bodybeyondbaby #strongmums #pelvicfloor #smallgrouptraining See more

01.01.2022 Well, 2020 has been a shitter of a year for many. Here is Tasmania we’ve been very fortunate. Always the butt of many, many jokes, we now find ourselves feeling very lucky to live on our little island at the bottom of Australia. Having said that, it’s not been easy, life has changed for everyone and some are struggling more than others with job losses and financial insecurity with little certainty of what might happen next. However, (for now) our sport has resumed, we can enj...oy our freedom and spending time with each other. For our friends and family over the strait, it’s a very different situation, they are doing it tough and this post is for them. We haven’t forgotten you. You are in our thoughts every day and we can’t wait to physically see you again! My niece is turning 1 soon, we’ve watched her grow over WhatsApp and FaceTime. Who knew this is what 2020 would look like.... So, to all my friends and family in Melbourne, all over Australia and the world, we love you and miss you. You are doing an AMAZING job! (and if you want to put the Christmas tree up, there is no judgement here) Sarah x #runningbare
