25.01.2022 - Always Was, Always Will Be - In celebration of NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week 2020 a group of Sarah staff took a guided tour along the Adelaide Kaurna Walking Trail in Adelaide's CBD, lead by Michael Kumatpi O'Brien. We learnt a great deal around the coincidence (or was it?) of the placement of the Adelaide Festival Centre, the same location where the Kaurna people used to put on their performances before colonisation. Adelaide Oval ...was also where some Kaurna people played their sports, including Kardi Wapa, played with an Emu feather which is a similar game to rugby. It's fulfilling to continue to learn about Aboriginal Culture through interactive engagement. For more information on how you can get involved in NAIDOC Week (8-15 November 2020) head to https://www.naidoc.org.au/. 19.01.2022 With a business culture that puts people first, we were honoured to be selected as the D&C Contractor for a one-of-a-kind, progressive vertical retirement village community being built on Smart Road in Modbury. Encore Apartments is a unique development for ECH Inc, being one of Australia’s first retirement villages to incorporate an SA Montessori Early Learning Centre. The interaction between Encore Apartments residents and the ELC will provide opportunities for intergenerati...onal activities in the community centre, enriching the lives of the children, older people and families in the community.
