25.01.2022 One of the intentions I set for 2021 was to read 1 book a month with an emphasis on fiction. I've hit the ground running finishing this book by Kate Grenville (highly recommended) thanks to a few restful days over Christmas. What's everyone got on their reading list? I'd love some inspiration for the year ahead.

22.01.2022 Feeling thankful for the support I’ve received over the last couple of days. Yesterday, I took time out, rescheduling my patients to get some headspace (very grateful for their understanding). Last night we wandered down to the beach for a walk and hit of beach tennis. Looking out into the horizon I find is one of the best ways to calm the mind and bring back a little balance. A few giggles and the cold water helped a little too even when facing another lockdown!

20.01.2022 I boil the kettle a lot throughout the day! May need to implement some of these mindful acts - via Wellbeing Magazine.

10.01.2022 Did you know that at the root of almost all health issues is inflammation? Many factors can cause inflammation and it’s not about all eating too much fast food and drinking alcohol. Yep, they are inflammatory but inflammation can also be driven by such things like stress, a lack of sleep, gastrointestinal infections, a high training load or eating foods (healthy or not) that are incompatible with your body. Identifying what’s causing your inflammation can be a process and req...uires modification through diet and lifestyle. For me, that includes a level of detective work to find out the root cause. Lately, I’ve been using Biocompatibility Hair Testing as a non-invasive way to identify over 500 different foods and household product that are or aren’t compatible with your body. Removing these for a period of time and changing up your diet can be an effective way to reduce the underlying inflammation and let the body heal. Want more info? DM me and I’ll send you the details.

07.01.2022 Kid is back at school. Husband back at work. Time to have a cup of Love Tea in the garden with my four-legged friend. Do you hear that?? Ahhh total serenity!

06.01.2022 Nourishing yourself in your first year postpartum // To grow and sustain the life of a baby requires a huge amount of nutrients. As a result, the mother’s stores can be massively depleted if you don’t pay some attention to your own self-care. Here are a few tips:... Rest and prioritise your sleep Eat a balanced, nutrient-dense diet Ensure you have quality protein and fat in each meal Increase your intake of fibre-rich produce Assess your nutrient stores in particular iron, zinc, vitamin C and vitamin D Add probiotic-rich foods to your daily meals Reduce liver-loaders like caffeine, alcohol and refined sugar Spend at least 15 minutes a day outdoors Include gentle movement Reach out for support See more

05.01.2022 One of the common conversations I am with people lately is that they're finding they're snacking more, making poor food choices or have noticed their waistline expanding while enduring the COVID restrictions. For many, their movement has also reduced and they're stress levels increased. This doesn't make it an easy process to keep weight in check. If this is you, one of the easiest changes you can make right now is to regulate your portion sizes. I find swapping your main p...late to a small plate is a simple change. This is last nights' dinner and it's a decent portion but this is using my son's little plates. If I served this on a main dinner plate I probably would have eaten another half serve. Give it a try. More often than not, we're eating way more than we need. #nutrition #nutritionist #health #healthtip #nutritiontip #wholefood #healthy #healthylife #wellbeing #wellness

05.01.2022 With all the changes happening in a short period of time and the increased pressures, sometimes our health and self-care priorities get overlooked. In fact, more often than not, they’re the first to go. I know for myself, meditation has slipped and when the stress gets too much, the chocolate comes out. Anyone else hit the chocolate? That’s okay. The key is to reset and do one positive thing that is going to create momentum to move forward.... I’m list girl, so this starts with writing my focus points down before starting immediately. Don’t leave it to Monday. What can you do right now to get back on track?

03.01.2022 Vulnerability post | I’ve been feeling a little off the last few weeks. I can’t put my finger on it, but a little overwhelmed and unbalanced. Subtle things have been emerging like a loss of interest in cooking and eating (not ideal when you’re a nutritionist!!), energy on the lower end and more sensitive to annoyances. Why am I sharing this? It’s really easy in this industry to only post the beautiful moments. The yummy looking smoothie bowl, the stylish and clean kitchen, ...a relaxing yoga poseBut the reality is, every day is not an Insta-worthy shot. There are ups and downs. And just because I’m a healthcare practitioner, doesn’t mean I don’t experience the lows. So, I want to share what I’m doing to get out of this fog and find my mojo. Starting with taking advantage of this beautiful weather and getting a solid dose of vitamin D. Today, I nipped around the corner to my local park to have my lunch break there rather than at the dining table. Sometimes it’s these little proactive steps you take that can make the world of difference!
