24.01.2022 This has been the most challenging experience many of us will have ever lived through. We’ve had to stay home and spend time away from those we love the most in order to stay safe. But supporting us the whole way through our mental health professionals, family violence specialists and child support workers professionals that were there for us every day, wherever and whenever we needed them. This year’s Budget will increase support for these hard-working Victorians, create better pathways to roles in these vital sectors and recruit even more of these skilled workers.

23.01.2022 BETTER AT HOME - $120 MILLION TO DELIVER HOSPITAL SERVICES AT HOME This is an incredible announcement! The Vic Budget 2020/21 will spend $120.9 million over three years on the new Better At Home program to meet growing demand for healthcare through increased delivery of hospital services in patients’ homes. Better at Home will give more patients the opportunity to recover from illness or surgery at home in the comfort and familiarity of family and friends. This investme...nt will include: $102.6 million to provide a range of different types of care at home, including clinic appointments, chemotherapy, post-surgical care and rehabilitation making a real difference to people’s lives. $12.5 million for virtual care technology to sustain the high rates of tele-health we have achieved during the pandemic, and support the development of innovative new models of 21st century care. A further $5.8 million will help health services to engage the clinical workforce in this transformation of care in Victoria, through training, support, and clinical redesign which will provide more options to receive care at home. Up to 50,000 chemotherapy appointments could be delivered in living rooms across Victoria, or 50,000 days Victorians previously spent in hospital recovering or undertaking rehabilitation can be done from the comfort of home freeing up around 160 hospital beds. This is a really big deal for people already having to undergo the fight of their life

23.01.2022 Today we're announcing the biggest public housing program this state, and country has ever seen. We're funding over $5.3 billion to build 12,000 new homes right... across Victoria. Secure and long-term accommodation for thousands of families. We're rebuilding over 1,000 existing public housing properties, and 2,000 new homes will go directly to Victorians living with a mental illness. Almost 3,000 rental homes will be built to help low and middle income families move closer to where they work at an affordable price. Every home built will be sustainable too and they'll all have a seven star energy rating. And over 10,000 jobs will be created on average every year for four years, providing work for builders, plasterers, plumbers, electricians, concreters, designers and more and helping kick-start our economy like never before. It'll increase our housing supply by 10 per cent, and help inject over $6.7 billion into the Victorian economy. And these aren't just places to live - they're homes to be proud of, and foundations Victorians can rely on too. This pandemic has exposed cracks and pitfalls right across the community. But if we want to build a stronger state, and recover better than before: Victorians need certainty, security and a fairer future.

22.01.2022 If you’ve walked down Federation Trail in the last two years, you might have noticed a few changes. That’s because our Government is getting on with delivering the Greening the Pipeline project. This $8 million investment is transforming over 27km of the heritage-listed Main Outfall Sewer pipeline reserve into vibrant green parklands, all the way from Laurie Emmins Reserve to Skeleton Creek.... That means that residents in Williams Landing, Truganina and Hoppers Crossing will soon have access to brand new park spaces for children to play in and for families to exercise. In fact, you can already experience the benefits of this project with a trip to Pilot Park in Williams Landing.

21.01.2022 Are you or have you been a casual worker? I certainly have - for years in the hospitality industry while working my way through Uni. We know that too often casual workers have a choice to make if they’re unwell go to work, or miss a paycheque. It’s unfair and it’s gone on for too long.... So we’re doing what no other government has developing a new Secure Work Pilot Scheme. We’ll provide up to 5 days of sick and carer’s pay at the national minimum wage for casual or insecure workers in priority industries. People shouldn’t have to choose between taking care of themselves and their families and their jobs, and soon, they won’t Visit https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/victoria-take-first-big-step for more information.

21.01.2022 When I started campaigning in 2018, Old Geelong Road Level Crossing was on everyone’s lips. When the State Government announced it would remove a further 25 level crossings from Melbourne, locals were ecstatic to learn that Hoppers would finally lose its crossing. When we announced last year that the level crossing would be fast-tracked to go with two level crossings in Werribee, it was a win for the community.... By 2022, Wyndham will be level crossing-free. And right now, works are ramping up as we build a new pedestrian overpass at Hoppers Crossing Station, and build a new road bridge on Old Geelong Road.

21.01.2022 Our Government’s $797 million household energy efficiency package, benefitting over 1.6 million households across the state. But it's not just households that will benefit from this investment in solar panels and batteries. Small businesses are also being encouraged to get on board, with 15,000 extra solar rebates being made available to them.

21.01.2022 ZERO cases again today - and mystery cases as well. Enjoy your Sunday folks

20.01.2022 We need more schools here in Wyndham and I’m proud that our Labor Government is getting on with delivering them. Construction of Garrang Wilam Primary School remains on track to open in Truganina next year - the name comes from the Local Aboriginal word meaning ‘eucalyptus home’. Since being elected as your local MP, I’ve had the pleasure of opening Tarneit Rise PS, Dohertys Creek P-9 and Davis Creek PS. And we won’t be stopping here - this is part of our Government's committment to build 100 schools by 2026.

18.01.2022 $5.3 BILLION to build more public housing! We’re going to invest $5.3 billion into building more than 12,000 homes within 4 years to tackle homelessness and create construction jobs. It’s the biggest single spend on social housing in Victoria’s history.... This is life changing for so many people and families across Victoria and right here in Wyndham

15.01.2022 We’ve just added an extra 450 weekly train services on metro & regional train lines We're also discounting off-peak travel from the end of Jan for 3 months, to minimise crowding across carriages and platforms. These extra services will mean more trains more often. More space for physical distancing. And most importantly, a safer journey for Victorians.... Passengers along the WERRIBEE LINE will see 60 extra services each week Here’s what you need to know: 20 extra services a week will be added during the busy morning period and 40 new off-peak services from 31 Jan 2021 which means you can expect trains at least every 10 mins during the busiest times of day. These extra train services for the line come on top of the 10 extra services the we added in July to help commuters stagger their travel. Most Werribee line trains will continue to the Frankston line after arriving at Flinders Street Station, providing better access to destinations across the city. All weekend trains will run direct to and from Flinders Street Station and not via the City Loop, giving you a more predictable journey all day, every day. From 31 Jan 2021, anyone using myki money between 9.30am and 4pm or after 7pm on weekdays will receive a 30% discount.

15.01.2022 Happy Guru Nanak Jayanti I wish all the best to those celebrating the birth of the first Sikh guru and the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev Ji today.

15.01.2022 Wyndham is set to become home to the city's much loved Asian Elephants. As part of an $84 million investment announced by the Premier this week, Werribee Open Range Zoo will soon house the six Asian Elephant herd currently located at Melbourne Zoo. Werribee Zoo‘s redevelopment will deliver a new world-class elephant sanctuary, a tree top Sky Safari gondola, a new specially designed site for rhinos and bison, and a brand-new waterhole precinct.... The new elephant sanctuary will be the gold standard in animal welfare with the herd able to roam freely over 22 hectares, including a walking trail to guide visitors through the landscape. This project is expected to create over 350 jobs, including 90 in animal care and management.

05.01.2022 Diwali is the biggest and brightest festival for our Hindu community. While we need to celebrate differently this year, there has never been a more important time to smile and celebrate the triumph of good over evil, purity over impurity and light over darkness This year it’s safest to celebrate outdoors, whilst remembering there are still restrictions on outdoor gatherings and the number of people in your home.... From my family to yours, Happy Diwali.

05.01.2022 Quick reminder - from tomorrow til 6 Dec, buses will replace trains between Werribee & Laverton Who else is looking forward to Wyndham’s metro line being level crossing free

04.01.2022 A year like no other calls for a budget like no other which is exactly what we’ve seen with the historic delivery of the 20/21 Victorian Budget by the Andrews Labor Government. We’re creating hundreds of thousands of jobs, building the education state, and supporting Victorian families.

03.01.2022 In 2018, our Government announced that Baden Powell College’s Tarneit Campus would receive $161,200 to install a brand new sporting oval. When I first visited the school in 2018, the oval was little more than a field of dirt and rock. I remember thinking that kids in the West deserve better than that - which is why I was so determined to help fund a new and better oval. Fast forward a year later, and the school now has a first-class soccer pitch and sporting oval.... I’m proud to support a Government that makes sure that our kids here in the west has access to quality sporting facilities. Kids deserve to be kids, run around and have fun at school. It's a great way for them to get fit and even burn off that extra energy they all have.

02.01.2022 About to jump on a zoom call and all I can hear is the snoring coming from under the Xmas tree #beaglelife

01.01.2022 It’s important that our schools have the equipment they need to cater to all students. That’s why last year our Government gave a $200,000 grant as part of the Inclusive Schools Fund to Dohertys Creek P-9 College for the installation of an outdoor sensory area. Because all students, including those with special needs, deserve to have fun at school.
