25.01.2022 ~ Did you know your gallery includes both the colour AND black & white versions of your photographs? So if you're like me and ache over which version you love best, don't worry, you will now have both. Look at those baby rolls. Baby Jack, you are divine! ~

25.01.2022 ~ Good Morning, friends. I'm shifting my focus to the little things today, to notice and appreciate the small things. How about you? ~

24.01.2022 Is anyone else a little excited that home schooling is officially over? We made it! Here's some cuteness to start your weekend. The simple white romper, the flaky skin, the yawn. The best part is that she will look at these photographs one day and marvel 'Did I really fit in your hands like that, Dad?'

24.01.2022 A friend recently shared an ABC interview with Anne Geddes. If you aren't familiar with Geddes work, think babies in flower pots and cabbage leaves. She was the Queen of posed newborn photography back in the 90's. There were baby calendars, greeting cards, books, diaries, posters. I had her cards and calendars and when someone mentions her name, her photographs instantly spring to mind. During the interview Geddes touched on why babies bring so much joy and what this mean...s for us now, living through a pandemic. "Babies are such a common, joyful language. Looking at a photograph of a newborn baby makes you want to be a better person. And I think we all need to have a dose of that right now." I have photographed two beautiful babies these past two weeks and I've walked away from each interaction a little more hopeful, a little more calm. There is something very special about being in the presence of a fresh little life, new and full of hope. It really does lift spirits and bring so much joy. And like Geddes said, we all could do with a dose of that right now. Here is baby Chloe Bear - a little ray of sunshine. Sarah.

23.01.2022 When your fur baby steals the show at your Maternity Session. Archie, you will make the perfect big fur-brother.

23.01.2022 ~ Caitlyn is enjoying her last few weeks of kindy and home days before starting school next year. This is a special time for our little ones, preparing for school and inching closer and closer to independence. Mumma, Jayde, is soaking up all the cuddles while she can. Why is it so hard to let go? ~

23.01.2022 ~ I used to think multi tasking was a life saver and the only way to manage all the various demands on my time. Eating breakfast while preparing school lunches. Cooking dinner while sorting clothes. Watching a movie with Jimmy while checking emails.... Now I think taking the time to complete one task at a time is a luxury. And because it is a luxury, I savour it. Tonight I started preparing dinner while also sorting laundry and editing photos. I stopped. The washing could wait. The editing could wait until later too. I decided to prepare dinner only. It was a luxury to focus on just one activity. Perhaps that's why I love meeting these babies. My focus is purely on them and capturing how this moment in time looks and feels. No distractions. Just ensuring the little details are captured forever, like baby Lucy's lashes. ~

21.01.2022 ~ It is heartwarming to read your reviews. Knowing you took the time out of your day to share your thoughts and experience. Michelle - thank you, thank you, thank you - for trusting me to capture these moments. And another thing ... this first photograph is displayed in France & Sydney, in the homes of Michelle and Max's extended family. The perfect gift to send home to the grandparents. How precious! ~ "We really love our family photos by Sarah - they capture joy and the 'story of us' in our natural environment. The perfect gift for our family near and far (and us!). Highly recommend."

19.01.2022 ~ He didn't arrive on his due date but he came in his own sweet time. Baby Lennox is the fifth boy for Rach and Craig. These champion parents make it all look too easy. Congratulations, Lennox is just perfect. ~

18.01.2022 ~ HI friends! Here is a little announcement AND a lot of hand flapping (I had NO idea I used my hands so much while talking) . Check out a special package offer for November only, just in time for Christmas. ~

18.01.2022 ~ Three trips to the Emergency Department this year for our Lucy. Oh dear! Firstly, surgery for a nasty gash to the head, followed a month later by a fractured collarbone and now a broken radius (from falling out of a tree). Santa has just one gift in his sleigh this year for our Lucy and it is a bag of cotton wool! This all happened just hours before I was scheduled to meet a family for their annual photos. This wonderful family are return clients and completely understo...od my reason for cancelling. And I should say - this is the first time I have EVER cancelled a session (that wasn't due to the weather). So once again, a shout out to the wonderful families who not only return year after year but also understand that sometimes life happens and well ... kids fall from trees. ~

18.01.2022 Here's a splash of sunshine for your facebook feed. This afternoon of fun was captured BC (before Corona). A little reminder that we will all laugh and run along the sand together again soon.

17.01.2022 Pinch me! Some lovely friends nominated my little business to receive $500 from Tamara Hall Properties. Wow!!! Thank you to the Nott family and Tamara. I am genuinely humbled by your generosity and I'm already thinking of ways I can pay this forward.

16.01.2022 ~ Dem toes & little bow legs ~

16.01.2022 ~ New beginnings. These little ones, so fresh, remind me that new beginnings are offered to us daily. Every day is a clean start. To talk to that person you've been wanting to talk to.... To wear that dress / shirt / skirt you love. To challenge the chatter inside your head. To move your body in a way that feels good. To listen, really listen. To look at yourself in the mirror and feel your shoulders relax with deep appreciation. To learn a new hobby. To tell that person what they mean to you. To admit that you need help. To follow your curiosity. Consider this your gentle little reminder - it's never too late to start over, start again, start something new. ~

16.01.2022 ~ My daughter turns double digits this week - 10. Besides mourning the passage of time and asking my husband over and over, 'where has the time gone?', I've also spent time thinking about the last 10 years as a Mum. A Mother. And I've realised this - that while my daughter has grown and changed and developed ... so have I. Growth and change that would not have occurred had I not become a Mother. Her Mother.... I watch her discovering her talents ... like I am. I watch her follow her curiosity and try new things ... like I'm trying to do. I watch her navigate friendships and relationships ... like I am. I watch her stick at something even when she doesn't want to ... just like I try to. I watch her fumble and stumble and challenge the chatter in her head ... just like I do. There are times I feel Motherhood has taken so much from me. Yet, I look at this photo of myself as a fresh, exhausted, new Mother and I know for everything Motherhood has taken, it has replaced with SO much more. Happy Birthday, Jada. I hope we keep growing right along side each other. ~ . . . . Oh, and I can not leave this photo here without expressing a MASSIVE heartfelt thanks to my friend, Michelle, who popped in to meet Jada and brought along her big camera too. She offered to take a few photos and I am so pleased she did. I wasn't aware of newborn photography at the time and had NO IDEA just how precious these photos would be to me in the years to follow.

15.01.2022 Interrupting your Wednesday night scroll with a little nose picking goodness.

12.01.2022 Baby blue eyes

12.01.2022 ~ Meet Lucy. Born at 26 weeks and weighing just 875 grams. Yes, you read that right ... 875 grams. Meeting Lucy left me a little awe struck. Listening to her parents, Jess and Ben, talk about her journey (and their journey) moved me. The setbacks Lucy has faced, the obstacles she has overcome ... well, it is truly amazing. ... Though Lucy be little, she has certainly taken up a very big space in the hearts of so many. She is almost 4 months old now, she is finally home and she is thriving. What a little miracle she is! ~

12.01.2022 ~ Do you remember baby Jack? He's not so much a baby anymore (although I think we will always refer to him as 'baby Jack'). He recently celebrated his first Birthday. Jack was back in the studio to document his first year around the sun. Look at that smile AND those rolls. Just divine! ~

12.01.2022 ~ These blurry photographs (produced through movement and a slow shutter speed) are slowly becoming favourites of mine. I'm enjoying the tones and emotion they provoke. I once thought a crisp, sharp photograph was the prerequisite to quality photography. Oh my, how that is changing! In fact, this summer I have found my photography changing, as I focus more on exploring creativity and expression. Sometimes it helps to look at things with fresh eyes. Perhaps these fresh ...eyes are the only way to grow as an artist (and a human). Oh, and yes, I believe we are all artists, just using different mediums and tools. Cylinder Beach, Stradbroke Island. A sunset photo. An attempt to remember a summer holiday that ended far too soon. ~

10.01.2022 ~ Let's be kind to ourselves today, friends. ~ The Other Serenity Prayer by Eleanor Brownn.

10.01.2022 ~ Brothers, getting to know each other. ~

10.01.2022 ~ Did your birth story spill from you soon after giving birth? Or did you need time to process the experience? Perhaps it was traumatic and you've sought help working through it. Or maybe you couldn't wait to share your story with anyone who would listen. Just moments after I arrived to greet Charlie at her home, her birth story spilled from her. She had already documented it, written it down, knowing that over time the details would become hazy. Telling her birth story he...lped process and cement the details in her mind. Felix was born at home, just one hour after Charlie woke. He was welcomed by his Dad and two big sisters, as well as his Aunty (who had flown in just hours earlier). It was swift, it was quick, it was intense. This is Charlie with her third child and first son. ~

08.01.2022 ~ The beauty and the chaos that is family. ~ Swipe to see Elsy preparing to give Felix a fishy kiss.

08.01.2022 Our eldest daughter, Jada, will celebrate her 11th Birthday in a couple of months. This is my Keepsake Film for her. My attempt to make time stand still and record her doing all the things she deeply enjoys. She squeezes every ounce out of life, our JJ. She always has. I hope this film displays her zest for life and helps us all remember. Please note - this is my first attempt at a Keepsake Film. I know there is space for improvement.

07.01.2022 ~ Let me count the ways I love you, my child. I love you to the depth and breadth and height my soul can reach. To the level of every day's most quiet need. I love you with the breath, smiles and tears of all my life.... It is as simple and profound as this - I could not love you more. Waking up slowly on a Sunday morning and plagiarising the words of Elizabeth Browning. ;) ~

06.01.2022 ~ The laughter, the joy, the cuddles. Let's embrace the chaos, the crazy, the mundane. Moments that turn into memories. Your moments. Your memories. ~

06.01.2022 ~ Yes! There certainly is power in our words. ~

06.01.2022 ~ All curled up, just as he was when he lived in you. You'll want to remember him this way. Trust me. ~

04.01.2022 ~ They change us, these little people. In big ways and in small ways. We do and say and behave in ways we once never thought we would. Things we once held so tight become loosening in our grip. Priorities change, relationships with other people change. We change. I'd like to think they reveal to us what is important and how good it is to let everything else fall away. ... Fresh baby Raffy who is changing lives in the best possible way. ~

04.01.2022 That little hand on her Daddy's leg.

03.01.2022 ~ Santa delivered a waffle maker through the man hole on Christmas Eve. It was her one Christmas wish and I still remember the delight on her face when she unwrapped it. Today was 'Waffle Sunday' brekky, a tradition she started (last year it was 'Pancake Sunday') and she invited our neighbour over to share the waffles. We had a great time together, talking long after the waffles were gone. She has asked if she can invite all our neighbours over for waffles. ~

03.01.2022 ~ When your little brother arrives AND it's your Birthday! Happy 3rd Birthday, Elsy. May your day be filled with big smiles, Wiggles, singing and twirly skirts. ~

03.01.2022 ~ Friends, I'm doing a happy dance right now. Each time you leave a recommendation or positive review for a small business, please know it means so much. ~ "Sarah has taken photos for our babies/family on 3 occasions now, once at Roma St Parklands and 2 more recently at her home studio. ... Both times were very personal and most of all very comfortable sessions. I am so pleased with the quality and experience." Thanks Tom for taking the time to share these kind words.

02.01.2022 ~ I'm editing memories for the Hodge family and feeling a little mushy and full of gratitude for the opportunity to be invited back again and again. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Reconnecting and watching your family grow is the highlight of my year. With love and gratitude, always.... Sarah. ~

02.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder to smile through the madness (and that zoom meeting) even when life is chaotic and messy. The juggle is real friends, oh-so-real. ~ 'The Juggle Struggle' ~

01.01.2022 ~ Term 3 is over! Here's a friendly reminder to check all school bags for any forgotten lunch boxes. 2 week old lunch boxes are not a nice start to Term 4. ~

01.01.2022 ~ Twelve months ago my husband was deployed to Stradbroke to help with the fires. I remember the blanket of smoke that covered our little Bayside town for days. I also remember the spectacular reds and pinks in the sunsets around that time. You might remember too. We have just visited Straddie for our annual family holiday. As we drove our favourite 4 wheel drive inland track this year, my husband was commenting on how much the land has recovered, pointing out the rejuven...ation of bush and scrub in certain areas. During the nightmare that was unfolding throughout Australia at the time of our holiday, with fires burning uncontrollably, this little drive and reflection gave me hope. Here is a Scribbly Bark Tree from our drive. They really are spectacular, each scribble unique and one-of-a-kind. ~ 7/30 - Daily Photo Project.

01.01.2022 What a dream. To be invited back to photograph the Lewin family as they welcomed a new baby girl, Elliotte Hope. It felt like stepping into a little cocoon of love. Despite the chaos outside in the world around, this home was a safe warm place filled with safe warm arms to love on the newest family member. Welcome Elliotte.
