16.01.2022 Trauma Sensitive Yoga returns to The Studio Selby on May 10th for an 8 week program. These TCTSY (Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga) sessions offer a safe yog...a space for women who have experienced trauma at any time in their life. The TCTSY methodology is based on central components of hatha yoga, where participants engage in a series of physical forms and movements. Elements of traditional yoga are modified to build trauma survivors’ experiences of empowerment and cultivate a more positive relationship to one’s body. Unlike many public yoga classes, TCTSY does not use physical, hands-on adjustments to influence a participant’s physical form. Rather, TCTSY presents opportunities for participants to be in charge of themselves based on a felt sense of their own body. Developed at the Trauma Center in Boston, TCTSY is an empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In addition to yoga, TCTSY has foundations in Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory, and Neuroscience. Exploring a way to process traumatic memory without the need for words can provide an invaluable opportunity for a trauma survivor to reclaim their body as their own. The sessions in The Studio are facilitated by Clare Pritchard (TCTSY-Facilitator, Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and Trauma Counsellor)
16.01.2022 When you're stressed are you reaching for helpful foods?
15.01.2022 Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone. Fred Rogers

14.01.2022 What's in a name? Sometimes a diagnosis can get in the way of accessing quality treatment.
13.01.2022 Do you believe that being beautiful is the only way to feel good about yourself?
12.01.2022 What is this thing referred to as "mental illness" that we have no objective way of quantifying?
11.01.2022 The autism "spectrum" doesn't mean what most people think it means.
09.01.2022 You want your kids to have a happy childhood, right? If you've been affected by trauma you might assume that protecting them from trauma will achieve that. But is it that simple?
08.01.2022 If recovery from complex trauma feels like "a seemingly endless series of ups and downs" it means you're on the right path.
05.01.2022 Are you a parent that "snaps" at your family and you don't know why? It could be coming from an anxiety disorder, which is very treatable once you realise it's there.
05.01.2022 Raised by a narcissist? You're not alone, wrong, or oversensitive - although it may feel that way.
05.01.2022 It's healthy to say no. You don't need to shield another person from being crushed by the disappointment of having "no" said to them. Saying no can bring you closer as you are both clear on what your boundaries are and you won't be secretly resenting them for "making" you do things...
04.01.2022 When you feel shame do you try to avoid whatever triggered it? What if shame might have a useful message for you?
02.01.2022 Are you estranged from members of your family of origin? Feeling guilty, different, or "wrong"? It's more common than you may realise.
01.01.2022 Sometimes pursuing your goals does more harm than good. How do you know when to review your goals and possibly change direction?
