24.01.2022 Today marks the start of NAIDOC Week. Always Was, Always Will Be. The theme for 2020 recognises that First Nations people have lived on and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.... 24.01.2022 The Unions Tasmania Women’s Conference is always a highlight of the year for me, and this year has been no exception. Amazing work from the committee to adapt the conference to be COVID safe, inspiring speakers and workshops, but for me, even just being surrounded by union women who are passionate about their work and their community is energising and exciting. Can’t wait for next year! ... Ella Haddad MP Alison Standen MP

23.01.2022 Today is a day to celebrate! The Legislative Council voted unanimously in support of Voluntary Assisted Dying. It's disappointing to hear that the Premier has decided that the debate won't be completed in the House of Assembly until next year, but I am still confident that the bill will be supported.... Congratulations to Dying with Dignity Tasmania, Your Choice TAS, and all those who have advocated for so long for compassion and choice. And to Mike Gaffney and his team for the power of work involved in bringing this bill to the Parliament, as well as all those who have paved the way through Parliament for us to get to where we are today. Thank you.

19.01.2022 The reopening of the Mersey Community Hospital's 24/7 emergency department on the 30th of November is great news for our communities and health care workers on ...the North West Coast. Thank you once again to the over 3000 people who signed our petition to reopen the emergency department 24/7 at the Mersey. The community has been without this service for far too long! I will continue to advocate for the need to recurit permananet staffing at our hospitals and for better access to health care services across our region. - with Shane Broad MP and Tasmanian Labor

15.01.2022 Peter Gutwein’s Budget is a missed opportunity. Next week Rebecca White MP and David O'Byrne MP will deliver Labor’s fully costed jobs plan to get Tasmanians into work and help build a better and fairer state.

14.01.2022 In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row The South Arm community has had a very difficult time with the recent tragic loss of a stalwart of the RSL and the broader community. ... The Remembrance Day ceremony this morning was not only a fitting tribute to those who died as a result of war, but also a wonderful way to recognise Pam and the Larkins family. Pam was an active member of the community and is very missed by many.

12.01.2022 Happy World Teachers’ Day! Teachers have been absolute heroes this past year, keeping schools open for those who needed to be there, developing and facilitating online learning, and putting together home learning packages for students without internet access. On a personal note, my two absolutely adore their teachers. They’ve been supported, educated, and loved by them, and it’s reflected in how much they look forward to going to school - so big thank you to them!

12.01.2022 This is fantastic news for the north west community! Community members have worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome, signing a petition, lobbying the Government and working together. Anita Dow MP and Shane Broad MP have worked hard to support and advocate on behalf of their community through this period. The North West is fortunate to have two local members who are always willing to listen to their electorate. ... Now we need a long term plan from the Government to address the staffing challenges and ensure adequate health services are delivered consistently to North West Tasmania.

12.01.2022 Rebecca White MP today launched Tasmanian Labor’s Plan for Jobs. Our plan is focused on getting more Tasmanians into secure, meaningful work. Click here to download the plan:... http://taslabor.com//Labors-Plan-for-Jobs-Working-for-Tasm

09.01.2022 The Royal Flying Doctor Service has been visiting Tasmanian schools with their educational flight simulator from Victoria. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to see what a real RFDS plane looks like, with the simulator being a life size replica of the fuselage of an RFDS plane. It’s on parliament lawns in Hobart for another hour or so, until around 4pm, and open to the public.

07.01.2022 Elections must be a battle of ideas, not a battle of bank accounts. Tasmania has the weakest political donation disclosure laws in the country. Ella Haddad MP has just tabled Labor’s bill to change that. Link to the bill in the first comment if you would like to know more.
