25.01.2022 Done and dusted. 20 Pilates classes in 40 days. Feeling like a boss. Baby girl hit 6 months this weekend. That was realistic and healing timing for me to get moving again. Made sure not to put external pressure on myself, and to listen to my body. Not gonna lie, it made me miss Nia....big time. 18.01.2022 #ThrowbackThursday Nearly 40 years ago, Nia was developed by Debbie Rosas and Carlos AyaRosas, not by following books or classes, but by following the design an...d structure of the body itself. "Embodiment" "Somatics" and "Mindfulness" are (finally!) being integrated into fitness, mental health and trauma therapy, but Nia has been teaching people to condition, self-heal and thrive through body awareness for decades. The blend of masculine and feminine energies is an important part of Nia, and one of the 5 principles of the Body's Way, "The body is balanced in yin and yang." We can tell that the body is comprised of both yin and yang energies simply by observing the body itself. Yin, the feminine, soft, watery, relaxing, receptive and inward directed energy is constantly being manifested by the body’s smooth, melodic movements. Yang, the masculine - form-focussed, fiery, assertive and outward directed energy is reflected by more explosive, rhythmic movements. Inhaling is yin, while exhaling is yang. Intense activity is yang, while rest is yin. Warming up is yang while cooling down is yin. All of these aspects of living and moving are indispensable and equally important. I have gone from highly strung and stressed to looking as "zen"ed out as I do in this picture in the space of about 10 minutes. And I felt it too. In every cell in my body. . . Many times. Over many years. . . But I chose to step in first. To try it out. To experiment with the movement in my body. And it paid off!!
