25.01.2022 Today is Early Childhood Educators Day, celebrating our dedicated and passionate early childhood educators and recognising their positive contributions to improving outcomes for children in NSW. I'm pleased to announce a new Early Childhood Education scholarship program to increase the number of qualified Early Childhood Teachers, in line with the NSW Government’s Early Childhood Education Workforce Strategy. Further information about the scholarships and how to apply is available here: https://education.nsw.gov.au//profes/teaching-scholarships
25.01.2022 Thank you to Wallum Community Preschool Director, Lauren Maguire, and parent + President of the management committee, Daina Hogan, for having us today. Preschool is so important for our youngest learners, and I’m so happy we can continue offering certainty for families during uncertain times. Community and mobile preschools can opt-in to receive the funding. For more information head to education.nsw.gov.au///grants-and-funded-programs/covid-19
25.01.2022 This week I met some fantastic Principals and students from the Tweed with Geoff Provest MP. The Principals are handling the double pressures of both the pandemic and border issues in a calm and professional way. The same maturity and determination is also visible in their students. Rubin and Adam, two of the Captains from Tweed River High School, are both incredible young people who were honest about the challenges COVID-19 has thrown at them. What was also evident was their resilience and ability, something Principal Leisa Conroy is understandably very proud of. I will continue working with our schools as we manage the HSC and border issues during this pandemic. #stayhealthyhsc #covid19 #nsw Tweed Heads, New South Wales

22.01.2022 To the 68,000 HSC students in your final weeks of school it’s an exciting time, but it can be stressful. That’s why we’ve updated our HSC Hub, in partnership with ReachOut.com Australia, so you can get the support you need. The Hub is full of tips and resources for managing stress and looking after your general wellbeing during exams. Some good advice for parents and carers supporting a child through the HSC as well. Check it out here: https://education.nsw.gov.au/student-wellb/stay-healthy-HSC #stayhealthyhsc
22.01.2022 Tweed River High School is the second of our new vocational high schools. Upgraded facilities will allow students to study VET courses along with their other subjects. It's an exciting project that will help students launch into further education and training so they’re ready for their careers. Congratulations to Geoff Provest for his strong advocacy for this initiative. NSW Nationals John Barilaro
20.01.2022 I’m really excited about the two new platforms we’ve launched for students to become more involved in education! In an Australian first, we have a new site for everything student-focused - created by students for students, and curated by a professional editorial team. Plus starting from next year our very first student council will have the opportunity to develop and advise on policy that impacts NSW students. ... Find the new student hub here: https://education.nsw.gov.au/student-wellbei/student-voices And more on the student council here: https://www.abc.net.au//nsw-students-gain-new-cou/12562554
19.01.2022 Great to be at Armidale Secondary College yesterday with Adam Marshall MP, turning the sod on the state of the art agricultural facilities which will soon be available to students. We also did a quick tour of the near-complete new school, and it looks really fantastic. I can’t wait for students to walk through the doors on Day 1, Term 1 2021! 19.01.2022 The steering committee for my Ministerial Student Council held their first meeting today. These 13 students will start designing the structure and governance of the Council to launch in 2021 which will have a direct link to myself and the Department, representing all public school students and advising on education policy. I was so thrilled to meet them all virtually today and looking forward to seeing what they create. Student voice is important. Can’t wait to hear what they have to say. Thanks to Charlie Grant from Brisbane Water Secondary College for nominating to be involved in the committee.
18.01.2022 The chance to have your say in education is open now. A one-off opportunity to decide how the new NSW Student Council will work and what it will do. History-making stuff that will have a lasting impact on students in NSW! Apply below: https://education.nsw.gov.au//your-chance-to-help-shape-th
18.01.2022 Over 700 teachers have already benefited from our Best in Class team. Expert teachers like Mel, Livia and Eddie continue teaching their students while supporting other teachers across NSW. 97% of teachers said they will use lessons from BiC in their classroom. Can't wait to see this fantastic initiative expanded to include more teachers and schools in 2021.
18.01.2022 An incredibly important budget delivered today - paving the way out of this pandemic. It’s a positive and constructive budget putting NSW in the best position for recovery. Education plays a major role as we help families and continue to build a world-class education system. Free preschool, extra tuition to further support students and more money for our historic school building program.
16.01.2022 It’s been a hard year. But to all our students, 2020 has made you stronger. Remember, you are the leaders of tomorrow, and we are all behind you. https://www.smh.com.au//2020-may-be-a-year-you-want-to-for
15.01.2022 Thank you to Bossley Park High School leaders Haylee and Nick for having me yesterday. Excited to try their generous gift on some toast this morning - a jar of the school’s award-winning honey.
14.01.2022 The NAIDOC week theme for 2020 is Always Was, Always Will Be. I’m looking forward to seeing how our school celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and acknowledge their history, culture and achievements. Lots of exciting things planned across NSW!
11.01.2022 It was great to visit Aurora College headquarters today with my colleagues Michael Johnsen MP - Nationals Member for Upper Hunter Geoff Provest MP Sam Farraway MLC Wes Fang MLC Ben Franklin. Aurora College is a fantastic tool for our regional and remote schools, using cutting-edge technology to connect gifted students from right across the state to engage in opportunity classes. I'm thrilled we got to meet some students and staff today and see Aurora in action! NSW Nationals
11.01.2022 Sabrina Allen is a previous recipient of the NSW Early Childhood Education Scholarship Program. Sabrina graduated in 2019 and is currently employed at Good Start Early Learning in Grafton. Sabrina says what she loves most about working within Early Childhood Education is the supportive relationships she builds with the children, knowing that what the children learn and take with them will help shape who they will become in the future. 09.01.2022 Great to be in Bungendore today with Deputy Premier John Barilaro to announce the site of the new Bungendore High School and improvements to Bungendore Public School’s classrooms and playing field. Fantastic new facilities that will benefit the whole community! NSW Nationals John Barilaro
08.01.2022 Corrimal Public School held a virtual incursion where the Imagination library taught the students how to sign with Harrison Craig. How great is it to see this technology in action! We will be able to do more of this in our rural schools after this year’s budget, with $366 million in funding provided through our Regional Access Gap initiatives to help close the digital gap between regional students and their metropolitan counterparts.
08.01.2022 Today Adam Crouch MP Member for Terrigal and I officially opened the multi-million-dollar upgrades at Wamberal Public School and Terrigal Public School on the Central Coast. The major upgrades included 15 new classrooms at Wamberal and 10 new classrooms at Terrigal, part of the NSW Government's $6.7 billion investment to deliver more than 190 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. We're delivering the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
07.01.2022 Tamworth Public School -50th project delivered in 2020 This morning I joined Kevin Anderson MP at Tamworth Public School to open their 7 upgraded classrooms and new hall. Kevin and I turned the sod for this project last year, and it’s amazing to see the finished buildings. This is a big win for the local community and also for our historic school infrastructure program because Tamworth Public School is the 50th new or upgraded school delivered this year more than any other year in NSW history. I couldn’t be prouder that this is happening in regional NSW and I’m so excited that communities right across the State are benefitting from our school building program. It was a pleasure to be shown around the modern facilities by Ella, Ruby, Lewis, James and Principal Chris Connor.
07.01.2022 Great to catch up with ICPA-NSW today
06.01.2022 Next year we will be supporting our students with a first for NSW. Tutoring will be available for all our public schools to help students who are struggling after a disruptive 2020. This landmark $337 million program will offer small group tuition to students across the state for the 2021 school year. Our schools have been supported throughout the pandemic and this now continues as NSW recovers. Thank you to Judy Kelly, ex-principal of Blackwattle Secondary College and Adam Martin first year Kindergarten teacher at Eastern Creek Public School. Gladys Berejiklian Dom Perrottet MP
06.01.2022 Regional students are the big winners out of this year's budget. From tuition to technology, we are making sure students from the bush have the same educational opportunities. Adding to our record infrastructure spend on regional schools, today we announced a $60 million program to fix and replace roofs at regional schools. The money will be a welcome boost to schools and to local communities who will be delivering the projects.

05.01.2022 Great to be with John Barilaro and Geoff Provest in Tweed today to announce that Tweed River High School will operate with a renewed focus on vocational education training from 2023 as part of the NSW Government’s Vocational Schools Initiative. It was lovely to meet Tweed River High School Principal Leisa Conroy and school captains Rubin and Adam. Geoff Provest MP - 100% For Tweed
03.01.2022 Today is R U OK? Day, a national day to remind us to have meaningful conversations with loved ones, friends and colleagues about their wellbeing and mental health. We know this year has been especially tough on our students, teachers and Principals who have worked tirelessly throughout COVID. I’d like to encourage everyone in our school communities across NSW to take a moment today to check in on someone else and ask how they’re doing. Ask if there’s anything they need to tal...k about. Ask if they need help, because help is available. Our schools are supportive places that provide not only education but also social and emotional support to help students’ wellbeing. One conversation can be all it takes to encourage someone to speak out about their struggles. Now, more than ever before, it is crucial to ask your mates, R U OK? https://www.ruok.org.au/ See more
03.01.2022 It was fantastic to visit Erina Heights Public School with Adam Crouch MP Member for Terrigal today. We met student leaders and Principal Natalie MacDonald, and got to see the school's new oval in action.
01.01.2022 Today Treasurer Dom Perrottet and I announced that free preschool has been extended through to the end of the year. Preschool is so important for our youngest learners, and I’m so happy we can continue offering this certainty for families during uncertain times. 01.01.2022 A great announcement today for families across NSW! As part of the 2020-2021 budget we are providing $120m to extend free preschool through to the end of 2021. More than 700 community and mobile preschools will be eligible. This extra support will go a long way for families, helping our littlest learners during a very important time in their education.
01.01.2022 It was great to meet Cordelia from Guyra Central School with Adam Marshall MP recently. Cordelia wants to be a regional doctor, participates in Aurora College and is part of our Rural Youth Ambassadors pilot program. The program will immerse 28 Year 11 students from across NSW in six months of leadership development, advocacy and learning, giving them the opportunity to share ideas, engage with successful business and thought leaders from rural communities and explore opportunities with key decision makers. This will give students the opportunity to become a voice for their schools and their communities. Guyra Central School
