09.01.2022 ***Composition In Macro Photography*** Composition in photography is extremely important and is the difference between an ok looking photo to a great looking photo. When I am taking macro shots of insects etc I very rarely take a photo and leave it as it is without cropping the image to change the composition. With a good macro lens you can get really good detail, but when doing such close-up work on objects that don't sit still and are constantly moving it can be very challe...nging, I make it doubly hard for myself by turning off my auto focus and put on manual focus, this way I can focus on what I want instead of the camera doing it for me and in a lot of cases focusing on the wrong subject. However when you're so focused on moving your camera and lens with the subject you're not checking your composition, you're concentrating on getting detail in your photo. Your composition comes later in photoshop where you can then crop and alter the composition using composition techniques such as rule of thirds. the golden ratio, negative space, fill the frame and symmetry. These techniques when applied to your photography make your images much more creative and pleasing to the eye See more
