25.01.2022 Lately, I've been focussing a little more on my Instagram account... and by focussing I mean that I've been over there pretending I have a clue as to what I'm doing. I'd love to see your friendly faces over there if you're not already part of the clan, so please come on over and share some love! www.instagram.com/sarahrossphotography... I'm not deserting my Facebook by any means... Just inviting you to come on over and watch me try really hard to be all Instagramy and stuff. - Sarah . . . . . . . . #familyphotographerperth #perthfamilyphotographer #lifestylephotographer #newbornphotographerperth #perthnewbornphotographer #perthphotographer

17.01.2022 Today my son said something that, I'm ashamed to admit, he has never been taught to say. Every now and then I ask my 2-year-old who loves him. And every time the answer is roughly the same; Mummy, Daddy, Blakey, Granny etc. I feel ashamed that I have never tried to instil this mindset in either of my kids to this degree, but at the same time, I'm immensely proud and in awe that at his tender young age, the thought even crossed his mind.... Today he added to his usual list of people who love him with a gleeful, confident, uninhibited... "MYSELF" So often I am stopped in my tracks by the profound simplicity of childhood. Today was one of those days. To have words and feelings as powerful as that, just roll off your tongue like it's everyday language. An everyday language that isn't restrained by fear, tainted by history or misguided by the pressure to fit the status quo. What a different life this would be! I know mine would be.

16.01.2022 Happy Birthday to me! So today I baked a birthday cake for myself. It's one of only a handful of cakes that I've had as an adult. I'll never forget the first! The first was a Barbie Masacre Halloween cake baked by a friend. It was epic...but a bit gory looking for my instagram feed so I knew it was time for a new one. Honestly, I had planned to go shopping this morning, but then I remembered that I actually hate shopping, so I procrastinated in the best way possible....... I spent my entire morning taking tripod selfies, mostly unsuccessfully, for this instagram post. (See my stories for some of the bloopers!) I'm now both a professional photographer and a professional petal picker-uperer. So yes, seeing that my morning was spent baking and taking hilarious selfies instead of driving around trying to find a parking bay, trying on countless outfits that only seem to suit the mannequin, and standing in queues behind hoards of premature Christmas shoppers... I decided I'd spread the birthday love with you instead. Once again head on over to my stories to see the sweet November deal I've cooked up for you! The deal is for sessions conducted in November, so get in touch sooner rather than later so you have ample time to prepare. See more

14.01.2022 Living across the globe from our families gives me a somewhat different perspective on close family sessions like these. Watching these doting grandparents lovingly scoop up and embrace their 2 beautiful granddaughters. Witnessing a warm, comforting motherly embrace, and enjoying a barrage of fun sibling banter.... There is no doubt that my perspective is, quite honestly, encased in a monumental amount of envy... but more importantly, at the heart of it lies sheer delight and frankly, relief for them not having to experience the separation. For those with family close by...may you never find that you take the ease of your relationships for granted. It might not feel like it all the time... but believe me, you are so very fortunate. * Be sure to watch the video in the max resolution and turn up your volume!! ;-)

13.01.2022 New on the blog... prepare yourself for a little pep talk! I'd be keen to know if anyone else has had a similar experience, so please comment below if you have. It seems to be extremely rare at such a young age, but maybe not as rare as it feels .

09.01.2022 SIBLING RIVALRY: THE MUSICAL Including hits like: Mummy, he hit me... Get out of my room He's looking at me, he's breathing on me But I want that toy AHHHHHHHHHH SHOWTIMES STARTING AT 6AM, ON THE HOUR EVERY HOUR until 7PM WITH A SPECIAL SHOWING EVERY TIME YOU GET ON A PHONE CALL. Last week of school holidays! Seems my two have reached the point where they can only tolerate each other in bite-size chunks. I'm busy prepping for another sweet newborn session in the morning. I feel so lucky that I get to call a morning of newborn snuggles, work! . . . . . . . . . #lifestylenewbornphotography #perthphotographer #perthlifestylephotographer #perthkids #siblingrivalry #newbornphotography #perthportraitphotographer #familyphotographyperth #perthfamilyphotographer #schoolholidays

09.01.2022 Well, you'll never believe it, but I actually managed to write a new blog post! I like to write, in fact, I could probably go so far as to say that I love to write. I'm not particularly good at it though, well, it doesn't come naturally that is. I spend hours, soooo many hours, trying to articulate my feelings into words. It's so much easier to do with photographs!... But we will never grow if we don't push ourselves! and accountability is exactly why I decided to build a blog into my website in the first place. So... for those mumma's who will be sending their wee ones off to school for the first time this week, and quite frankly those who will do so in the next year; let me know if you can relate to some of this? . . . . . . . . . . . . . #familyphotographerperth #perthfamilyphotographer #kidsofinstagram #buggybuddies #lifestylephotographerperth #arcturusroadphotography #sarahrossphotography #perthnewbornphotographer #newbornphotography #Perthnewbornphotography #perthfamilyphotographer #piarawaters #canningvale #applecross #como #lightandairy #firstdayofschool #prekindy

09.01.2022 It's fairly common for me to receive gift voucher orders for family members, but every now and then I get a group of friends who have come together with their mutual desire to spoil a special someone in all their lives. A desire to bestow upon that much loved someone, the gift of memories. A gift that genuinely lasts forever! (Take that Tupperware!)... While I certainly wouldn't say that it isn't special when family members do this, because, of course it is! There is just something truly heartwarming to know that there are people out there who are loved this deeply by their incredibly thoughtful "chosen family". So, if this thought hasn't yet crossed your mind... Choose that deserving someone in your life and gather a few mutual pals to join together to present your special friend and their family with this invaluable gift... the gift that we often find we procrastinate on when it comes to ourselves.

06.01.2022 Before each and every session, I like to gather as much information as I can from my clients. The information I ask for ranges from what you most want out of your images, to what your little ones are into and finally, I also like to find out if you have any concerns going into your session. Almost every time the concerns are with kid's cooperation, sometimes dad's enthusiasm and a lot of the time clients tell me they have no idea what they're doing and will need all the gui...dance they can get! I'm telling you this, because they really are very common concerns. You are not alone, and I will pull out all the stops to put you all at ease. I'll use the information you've provided to build a relationship with your little ones and whip your partner into shape by showing them that the session can actually be really fun. Hand in hand with those concerns is usually the desire for that one family portrait with everyone looking like they really want to be there! While I will provide a gallery full of candid, emotional, love-filled images, I will always do everything in my power... no really, I've done some pretty silly things in the past, to get you that precious family portrait. Oh and for the record...

06.01.2022 We're off on a little family getaway this long weekend. It's a very welcome trip but a little bittersweet. We're heading back to a spot we've been to before when my husband's parents came to visit 3 years ago. They would definitely be due another visit right about now and we would have taken a trip with them. ... So this post is full of all the feels for those families who are missing their far-away loved ones. For the grandparents who are missing out on those precious newborn grandie snuggles. To the new mums who would do anything to feel the reassuring embrace of their own mum. And to the dear little ones who for the foreseeable future will only get to interact with FaceTime Nanna and Poppy. I'm there with you... and it sucks! Thank goodness for photography! I hope these beautiful images bring this family, and their loved ones far away, that little bit closer together during this time of hopeless separation. . . . . . . . . . . . #familyphotographerperth #perthfamilyphotographer #kidsofinstagram #buggybuddies #lifestylephotographerperth #arcturusroadphotography #sarahrossphotography #perthnewbornphotographer #newbornphotography #Perthnewbornphotography #perthfamilyphotographer #piarawaters #canningvale #applecross #como #lightandairy

05.01.2022 Liam Mackay... 3 years old today and I’m finding it very hard to come to terms with the fact that my baby boy is not really a baby any longer. Although I try hard to cling to a time where I held you neatly in my arms; your tiny head nestled comfortably in the palm of my hand, you are a 'big boy' now. And you remind me of it, LOUDLY, every single day. You’re the friendliest kid in town; the kind of kid who’ll confidently and religiously greet passers-by, and the kind w...ho'll express utter devastation if the greeting isn't reciprocated. You're a naughty yet sensitive little bugger who constantly tests the boundaries to the limit and when gently reigned in will instantly breakdown, with quivering lips, and eyes full of remorseful tears. My boy, you are such a brave little soul. A real little go getter. The kind who does first and thinks later. From riding your pedal bike, training wheels free at 2.5 to constantly launching yourself into big boy activities, head first and without reservation. Liam, you bring such light and laughter to our days. You are tender and polite yet also wild and headstrong. You will never be short of friends my boy. My heart aches as the days pass by. So much so that last night I genuinely and of course fruitlessly pondered how I could slow time down and keep you 2 for longer. Today, you woke up 3 years old, despite my best efforts. And as your small little fingers clutch tightly to your doodoo, your tender, comfort-seeking expression and suckling sound is forever etched in my heart. One of the only baby traits you still have left. I love you 1000 Star Wars baby boy. Happy Birthday, my little Muppet. See more

02.01.2022 We've been renting our house for the past 5 and a bit years and have been very hesitant to put anything on our walls. A few months back I put up a post about getting your photos off your computer and onto your walls and into frames. I had not been practicing what I preach due to our living circumstances and well, I'd put it in the too-hard box! But I had had enough of the bare walls and so I asked you awesome peeps, to send me inspo for gallery walls you've created. ... I was sent so many stunning designs and was so inspired! I was even brought to tears when a beautiful client sent me the stunning wall she created with a mix of photos from sessions we've done together over the years. (see my story for today) After I dried my happy tears, I thought, if she can get it done with 4 kids, including a set of busy, toddler triplets, what was my excuse? As a photographer mum, finding images to display wasn't hard; hard to narrow down maybe, but choices galore just like galleries my clients receive! Frames on the other hand; choosing frames involved a lot of buying and returning until I found the perfect set for our limited budget! And let's not forget 3M Command Strips to save the day in a rental. (#tip ...heat them with a hairdryer before pulling them off to double your chances of no paint damage) I absolutely adore my gallery wall; it has brought such life to our house! In fact, it's no longer a house... it's a home! . . . . . . . #gallerywall #3mstrips #commandstrips #perthlifestylephotographer #familyphotographyperth #perthportraitphotographer #perthfamilyphotographer #sarahrossphotography

02.01.2022 There is something so magical about watching my husband as a father. ... ; ' (... ' )! I’m just so grateful that my boys have an affectionate father who will hold them, hug them and kiss them. ... He is teaching them that you can still be strong, masculine AND emotional. He shows them every day that love is still tangible. Not some lofty idea... but very real in how we should treat one another. Love is undoubtedly felt in Daddy’s lap and I am so thankful that they have him as a shining example of a gentle, loving man. Fatherhood is a heart job ( ) and it requires you to elevate the needs of others above your own. My boys are learning that family matters and that relationships take top priority because he always makes time to bond with them. If our boys grow up to be the kind of man their father is, I’ll be one very proud mother indeed. Happy Father's Day to all the dad's who don't hesitate to jump for hours on the trampoline after a long days work. To the dad's who also wrap their kids in a towel and "fly" them to their bedroom's after bathtime every single night. ...and to the dad's who happily jump out of bed in the middle of the night to attend to an upset child while their wife pretends to sleep on the other side.
