01.05.2022 This is from 2007 titled "The Web of Life" an acrylic work from Jervis Bay. I did a lot of drawings there about the mesh and overlapping textures. Then I took it back to the studio and all the memories come back to me

11.04.2022 This work is painted in coloured inks, gouache and acrylic of the Katherine Gorge area. It has inspired me to get into coloured inks again.

25.03.2022 This work was painted on Walaga Lake which is one of my favourite spots for camping. It's titled "Rhythm of Stillness" celebrating the lovely time before sunset. It manifested through layers upon layers of glazes and is a bigger piece than I usually do.

06.03.2022 An acrylic work painted in the 1990's of a reclining male form with head closer to the camera and legs going backwards. It is a part of the the infamous series of treescapes that I painted in those times. I primarily focussed on female forms as the angophoras (sydney re gums) grew breasts, muscles and twisted forms. I also challenged myself to only work with three colours Phalo blue, permanent alizarin and yellow mid which taught me so much about colour.

03.03.2022 I will be running on -line classes next week beginning Mon 4th May, 2020. 6-8pm. Tues 5th May 10-12pm Thurs 7th May. 10-12pm. Cost: $180 running for 6 weeks. See on my website sarahaylward.com

24.01.2022 A favourite painting from student's choices. A piece that is easy to live with of the rocks at Old Cremorne wharf titled "Dialogue between Rocks" painted in the 90's.

17.01.2022 This painting "Mediation 1" won the Camden Art Prize a few years ago.Of course it's the Blue Mountains. I find the energy up there presents stillness and meditation. I understand why so many people live there such peacefulness.

14.01.2022 This was one of my earlier pastel (chalk) works from early in the 90's. of Kangaroo Valley in the Southern Highlands in NSW. I prefer the pastel technique used here than the pastel works that followed. It was what I called a "premonition" of work in the future!

10.01.2022 This acrylic painting won the Camden Art Prize a few years ago. I titled it "Meditation 1".It became the beginning of a Series based on Meditation. I believe that all good painting comes from the meditative place inside. Many artists have discovered this.

10.01.2022 A vey dynamic acrylic work from the nineties of the Faulkland Islands I found whe cleaning up my studio. A fascinating region of the Pacific ocean.

08.01.2022 The painting on this flyer won Port Macquarie Art Award in 2009. It's titled "Medicine Woman" symbolizing pointing the bone.

07.01.2022 This work was painted on Walaga Lake which is one of my favourite spots for camping. It's titled "Rhythm of Stillness" celebrating the lovely time before sunset. It manifested through layers upon layers of glazes and is a bigger piece than I usually do.

06.01.2022 This is a work in acrylic titled "Wise Old tree" a massive melaleuca on a fire trail in the Myall Lakes north of Sydney one of my favourite camping regions. It is a Myall Lake Series mainly focussing on treescapes.

03.01.2022 This work was painted a couple of years ago after a trip to Central Australia. This began as a desert scene but I allowed it to become a more figurative work.

02.01.2022 This is a favourite work of mine titled "Bobbin Head 1". I am constantly fascinated with the "negative shapes" between the grasses or branches. With photos taken in this way you can create a lot of depth and atmosphere. Even though the original image was a lot lighter I wanted to be more moody..

02.01.2022 I can't remember if I have posted this before. It's a painting that no longer exists. Sometimes we keep going and don't know when to stop. I will post the new version soon.It is a work painted of a series of pictures of Wild Rivers National Park near Walcha in NSW.
