21.01.2022 I have been lucky enough to be one of the three artists involved in Country Arts SA's Hope Street Project. Here's some photos from my 10 day residency in the b...eautiful riverside town of Mannum, South Australia. The aim of the Hope street murals is to activate arts in the community and raise awareness around mental health and wellbeing in the River Lands. I chose to paint an egret rising out of rocky water - inspired by the river, native birdlife and the integrity of Mannum community. I have used the egret as a symbol of hope, optimism and moving forward from difficult times. It is located between Mannum Bowling Club and Mannum Community Club on Wattle street. I met so many kind and interesting people. It was a very positive experience and I got to transform a very drab wall into something a bit brighter Thanks Sam for helping me paint! Hope street began in Renmark with Jack Franceschini and is finishing up in Murray Bridge with Joshua Smith! Check it out

20.01.2022 HOPE STREET is a street art project that aims to create an outdoor gallery accessible to all, representing the community in all its diversity, celebrating creat...ivity and increasing connectivity. Stage one of the project will involve three South Australian artists each undertaking a 10-day residency in the Renmark Paringa, Murray Bridge and Mid Murray councils. The artists: Jack Fran (Renmark Paringa), Joshua Smith (Murray Bridge) and Sarah Boese (Mid Murray) will collaborate with local communities to produce a contemporary painted mural responding to the theme of HOPE. 19.01.2022 Place making project I completed for Holden Hill community centre, commissioned by City of Tea Tree Gully council. Goal was to brighten up the entrance to make ...it more welcoming to visitors, also to get the community involved in the creative process through workshops. Furniture was designed out of up cycled materials; lots of tyres and pallets. 17.01.2022 Pandoras Box - Completed in November 2018, located at the Box Factory Community Centre and commissioned by the City of Adelaide. This mural is the product of many months of planning and a series of workshops to engage people from the community to ensure they were given the opportunity to be involved and influence the design process. Together we discussed a great deal of possibilities and I gathered up the themes that stood out as the most meaningful and relevant to the ci...ty of Adelaide. As a result, this mural represents hope, curiosity and optimism. The scene also reflects on the rich culture of Adelaide including the importance of music and festivals, Aboriginal smoke ceremonies and embracing diversity. It is also a celebration of our natural environment and the wild life that inhabits our parklands.
