25.01.2022 Currently, the weather forecast for the next few days predicts that there will be some hot weather ahead, especially tomorrow and Thursday. As it is, our wildlife struggles to find water resources in this weather, so let's help them out! If you have a few spare containers or bowls around please fill them with water for our animals to drink from. If they are deep bowls or dishes please pop a few rocks or a stick in there, just in case something falls in the water source. Also,... please make sure it is an appropriate vessel for the animals which are in your area. however, should animals use your water source, please refrain from touching them or approaching them as some of our natives might not be too appreciative of the gesture and can cause harm.
21.01.2022 This poor beautiful little female brushtail possum was caught in the fires and has had her paws, tail tip whiskers and fur burnt. She’s being very brave for her medication and needles and is slowly picking up. Tonight, she was allowed a carrot as a treat following her pain relief and antibiotics but is eating extremely well and gobbling up her foliage. ... She will need to be in care for many months to put all her weight back on and to get those paw pads back to being nice and healthy. She hasn’t been given a name yet, any ideas???? Please note, if you see any animal that is a victim of the fires please contact your local wildlife rescue group to have a volunteer attend the site and safely rescue the animal. Some animals can inflict harm to humans, especially when they are frightened and in pain!
18.01.2022 There’s been a heap of money donated to WIRES for bush fire relief to help the animals. However, there are many other smaller wildlife organisations who are also caring for the fire affected animals. Please research your local organisations and see what they need or donate to them as well! There are a few wildlife organisations in Victoria which could really do with some help and are struggling.... Below are a few organisations which really need help: https://www.faunarescue.org.au/donations/ https://www.wildlife-rescue.org.au/ http://www.flybynight.org.au/supportbats.html https://batrescue.org.au/new/ https://www.wildlifevictoria.org.au/ https://wildliferescuers.org.au/
18.01.2022 Feel like you want to do something to help the animals in need who have been affected by the fires, but are unsure how? You can donate to Sydney Wildlife Rescue! A 24/7 wildlife rescue organisation. We are all volunteers and all expenses for animal food and treatment come straight from our pockets! Here’s a photo of Zelda, an older brushtail possum female who was caught in the fires and all of her paws and the tip of her tail were burnt. She is now in my care and is thriving! She still has a long way to go and times are still hard but she is pushing through! You can donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/bush-fire-and-drought-relief-eme
