Maybe we personally need to talk to someone ? and abit more deeply than the usual day to day niceties? Mirandah has Type 1 diabetes, the condition can be managed but needs constant vigilance to prevent her blood sugar levels dangerously declining. Koda, is Mirandahs medical alert dog and was very specifically trained early as a young puppy. If Mirandahs levels are unsafely dropping, Koda will quickly smell the change in body scent and alert those around her with a specific, insistent & gruff bark to attract attention and immediate treatment for Mirandah. 09.01.2022 I expected to see what I saw. Dehydrated babies, dazed kids, angry men, exhausted grandmothers, we have all seen pictures of what packed evacuee boats look like.... But what I did not expect was to feel, actually feel, was the indomitable human spirit. A small flotilla of boats had navigated their way to Abaco, in the hopes of bringing back as many homeless devastated people as they could possibly fit, the situation in both Abaco and Grand Bahama is catastrophic and every day more news leaks out with stories that are truly unimaginable. The death toll far exceeds anything reported. At North Eleuthera relief workers, our local doctor, nurses, and kind souls worked throughout the day as the boats crawled back across the waters. I caught up with Wesley for only a brief moment as the boat he had been on docked. We hugged and I said, dare I ask? he replied Its beyond anything Because of the kindness of so many from our community the evacuees waiting to be processed and identified were able to sit under the shade of temporary tents, given some food and a lot of encouragement. We were all waiting for a large aircraft to carry them onto Nassau where they could start to be rehabilitated. The aircraft never came. Hope dipped. But as late afternoon became evening the freight boat that carries goods between the islands offered free passage. It would mean another 6 hours on the water, but it also meant safety. When the boat could not hold another person, others were driven on the school bus to the missionary. None of what is happening here in our tiny communities of Harbour Island and North Eleuthera would be possible without the generosity of so many friends. But the greater reality of rebuilding Abaco and Grand Bahama comes down to the generosity of everyone else. The link to donate is in my profile. It will be there for a while. See more

05.01.2022 Even the tiniest moment of love & kindness can make a ripple effect that spreads far and wide . Melbournians are facing 6 weeks ahead of a tough Stage 4 lockdown this Winter . Largely confined to home, masks, curfews and so many businesses shut down. The massive impact on so many lives is incomprehensible and mass media does little to bring much needed light into everyones lives each day.
