24.01.2022 Today is my birthday. I turn 36. I always find birthday's an interesting milestone to reflect & take stock of the past year, kinda like January minus the Christmas chaos preceding! This birthday though has me thinking back 10 years. I was in the midst of 3 years of backpacking and nomadic travelling adventures. Times were different then. I was never going to be one to settle down early, get married and have some kids. I'm a gypsy spirit. I was also too restless and the ...desire to discover both, the world and myself, was far too intense to consider staying put. I just remember thinking over and over "I will never get this time & freedom in my life every again, I need to make the most of it". So I did, I was wild and free for those years. Some of the best times paired with some of the darkest days were had on those adventures. I learnt how to truly stand on my own two feet, look after myself and that relationships don't need to be long & filled with history to be life changing and profound. I learnt the true value of kindness and that a smile and good manners will get you SO far in life and open many doors I started my travels in Vietnam, working in an orphanage for children abandoned because their parents had died or they simply couldn't afford to keep them. This experience alone changed me. Heartbreaking and humbling don't begin to describe the emotions experienced here. I then travelled the rest of South East Asia, spending months in the north of Thailand practicing yoga with my great yogi pal @karinanorton.yogatherapy A practice that has been with me since age 15 & got me through so many of life's challenges. Next was Europe. I started in Italy and lived there for several months. I love all things Italian (especially gelato and riposo) and truly felt like I must have been born into the wrong family somehow, surely I was meant to be far more exotic than I am! I taught English, worked on a farm in Tuscany, spent weeks in Calabria, went to a wedding in Sicily. So many memories. These travels shaped my life. Travel truly broadens your mind & gives you a sense of appreciation & empathy for all beings. Until the next adventure.. See more

22.01.2022 Want to have a little sticky beak behind the curtain of how I've set up my business?! Here's a few tips (turns out I've learnt quite a few lessons!)

20.01.2022 Mismatched and perfectly imperfect. Shows that honest and raw materials can go a long way to creating that 'feeling' of warmth and belonging in a space. This here is @holdcottage, a beautiful cottage in the country NSW town of Gunning. It's on our list to stay that's for sure! Photography by @brigidarnottphotography and styled by @belljarinteriors for @countrystylemag feature.

18.01.2022 Let the architecture of a home be the starting point, design from there. Sometimes less is more & all a space really needs is some jewellery to finish it off. That’s all I really needed to do in the entry at my Bellevue Hill project. The original door and transom window above were already stunning so it was simply a matter of complementing those to keep them as the 'hero' architectural features.... I added some soft delicate wall scones to flank the door which not only look timeless but also provide functional soft lighting at nighttime to illuminate this thoroughfare space to the upper and lower levels. 16.01.2022 Love this project. As seen in @homebeautiful The colour, the curves of the architecture, the playfulness of wallpaper and of course, the touch of tradition with the classic wainscotting we installed. This space was an otherwise dead end. So we turned it into a bar! Of course, why not Project: Bellevue Hill... Design: @sarah_yarrow Photo: @jacqui_turk See more

14.01.2022 To me, this image really captures the reality of family in a single moment. Seeing our clients *in* their spaces brings us immense satisfaction. It's what makes the effort, the cost, inconvenience and sometimes stress of building or renovating, all worth it for them. Knowing the changes we made so this moment could occur, is really cool & the thrill will never be lost on me. Project: The Jude Residence... 13.01.2022 I'm not really one to follow convention or trend and my work is certainly a reflection of that path less travelled. So designing a plain laundry was never on my radar when conjuring up this project. Pale green cabinetry with Tassie Oak veneer, VJ panels, custom upholstery bench seat and terrazzo floor, ensures this utilitarian space is super durable and functional but also looks fun and most importantly, *feels* lovely to be in (even when doing washing!) 08.01.2022 Meet Billy the Cocker Spaniel (and my mum Judy ) A few weeks ago, we adopted Billy from the Sutherland Shire animal shelter Sutherland Shire Council Animal Shelter and he's been busily settling into life with my parent's since (quickly rising to & firmly cementing his #1 ranking in household). Here's the story of Billy...my mum retired from teaching a couple of years ago and while she's been busy being Nanny to Mala, my Cocker Spaniel, she was yearning for her own f...ur baby to have as company every day. Knowing this, the legendary Vivi who runs HOP House Of Paws sent me a link one day of a cocker spaniel who had landed at the animal shelter and was looking for a loving family for his fresh start. I forwarded the link to my mum but heard no response for a couple of hours... Later that night I rang to find out her thoughts on this doggy. To my surprise, through muffled tears she explained that she'd already fallen in love with Billy and had made an appointment to visit him first thing the next morning. The reason for the tears? Well, my mum had a brother, who was taken from us far too early and in an instant. There was no goodbye and he left a void in all our hearts, especially his youngest sister, Judy. That brother, well, his name was Bill. Billy we called him. We saw it as a sign. The next day, mum and I toddled off to the shelter to meet Billy but I guess it's no surprise really, Billy was always going to come home to live with her. I've since met an amazing number of people who saw the post about Billy when he was up for adoption and grateful there were so many good people lined up to take care of him (ear, eye and allergy issues included ) Billy is doing really well and loving his life with his new "paw-rents". You'll find Billy and Judy pounding the pavement on Cronulla Esplanade every day (Billy's on a strict weight lost plan given he was quite, umm, well fed when we adopted him ) Mala is also learning to love and accept Billy, although was less than impressed the first few days to learn she was no longer Nanny's only top dog! 07.01.2022 With exposure to endless interior design content and style combinations, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and unsure of where to begin. A consultation is where it begins! Every project kicks off with a consultation. It's an essential part of the process and one which allows us to fully assess the scale of the project, document the scope of work and get together an action plan After an initial phone call (book this via link in bio or our website), we visit you in your home t...o talk through your plans or issues with the current spaces. Sometimes this is interior design or decoration only and sometimes it's design and build, in which case, I bring along Tim from @yarrowbuild so we can talk through the project together holistically. At the consultation, we're aiming to cover off our "4 Pillars" - style, scope, timeline, budget. Following that, we'll come back to you with a proposal and action plan to move you forward! Currently taking bookings for consultations from July 2021.

03.01.2022 Do you have a dream? Sarah does! "My husband is a builder, we buy, renovate and sell our own properties so we know what our clients go through during a renovat...ion and can have empathy for the process! Our dream is to buy an old farmhouse in the country and restore it to glory while having a weekend getaway from the city". After creating a series of images for Sarah and Tim this year, and having the opportunity to meet them in their home for the photo session, I really do hope that "dreams can come true".
