24.01.2022 Recently the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Red Cross SA took place in Adelaide under special arrangements due to COVID-19. The meeting was streamed live for members and staff. At the venue, Divisional Advisory Board Members and a few staff were present. There was an excellent turnout in-person and online given the challenges. We were lucky enough to hear from Ross Pinney, President of Australian Red Cross, Kym Pfitzner, CEO of Australian Red Cross, and State Director Jai O’...Toole. DAB Chair, Rose Rhodes was MC for the day and shared a report on the activities of the past year, as did zone and committee representatives. These provided a fascinating insight into Red Cross programs, as well as branch activities during this difficult period. Rounding out proceedings, a certificate of appreciation and flowers were presented to Helen Ashby for her outstanding support to the Australian Red Cross as the SA Vice Patron from 2015-2020, and for her service as a dedicated member since 2002. Thank you Helen A big thank you to all who attended in person or online!

17.01.2022 Women impacted by the fires in Keilira and Sherwood were positively overwhelmed by the Red Cross pamper day held in early November. Over 10 months on from the fires it was important to provide a day that brought women together and allowed overdue conversations to occur. Of course the ladies also received a bit of pampering, something that they said they didn’t even know they needed! "Live music, flower workshop and some pampering goodies - it made it feel like a really spe...cial day" "Great to come along and do something for myself for a change" "Fellowship, laughter, relaxation and information", "Enjoyed the Mental Health talks - very informative" Red Cross was supported by the local Kingston District Council and Sue Benson from CRANAplus in running this event.

15.01.2022 Kyla Raby from the Red Cross Migration Support team recently returned from six months in Bangladesh helping to prevent trafficking in the world’s largest refugee camp. Kyla shared her insights with the Women’s Agenda publication this week. She talks about working alongside Bangladesh Red Crescent teams to help women and children stay safe from violence, exploitation and now COVID-19.
