People aged above 65 , and those under 65 with chronic conditions are eligible for funded,free flu shots. 18.01.2022 Queensland has recorded 7 new case of COVID-19 today. The cases are overseas acquired and detected in hotel quarantine. There are currently 20 active cases and 10 are in hospital. To date, 1,603 people have recovered from the disease and sadly, 7 people have lost their lives. This brings the total number of cases in Queensland to 1,650. A total of 348,287 vaccine doses have been administered in Queensland (not including the number of vaccinations administered by the Commonwea...lth Government) and 2,738,010 tests. Each day, total cases may not equal active plus recovered plus deaths, as information for some cases is still pending and will be updated in due course. 15.01.2022 There have been updates to the vaccination program: The Pfizer vaccine is now preferred to the AstraZeneca vaccine for adults aged under 50 years. For those over 50, the advice remains the same - to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine. People who have already had the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine and haven't had any significant side-effects will be able to receive their second dose safely. 14.01.2022 Great News!! Sarina Clinic is now conducting Covid vaccine clinics throughout July. Based on current evidence, ATAGI now recommend COMIRNATY (Pfizer) as the preferred vaccine for people aged 16-59. If you have an appointment for an AstraZeneca vaccine and you are aged between 50 to 59, you can now change the appointment to a Pfizer vaccine. Our first clinic call for the Pfizer vaccine will be held on 6 July 2021. Please call now on 07 49561355. 07.01.2022 Eligibility for 2021 season influenza vaccines Influenza vaccines are funded under the National Immunisation Program for the following groups due to their increased risk of complications from influenza: All children from 6 months to less than 5 years of age All adults aged 65 years and older Pregnant women... All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over Individuals aged 6 months and older with medical conditions which increase the risk of influenza disease complications (for a full list go to NCIRS Influenza Vaccines Fact Sheet). In 2021, all funded influenza vaccines available will be quadrivalent vaccines (QIV) including the adjuvanted (enhanced) influenza vaccine for adults aged 65 years and older. Only one government-funded influenza vaccine is available for eligible people each year, with the exception of eligible children up to 9 years of age receiving an influenza vaccine for the first time. These children require and are funded for 2 doses, 4 weeks apart.
