20.01.2022 Day 1 was a great start to the 2020 Sabre Nationals, giving the fleet a chance to stretch the legs in the invitation race. Despite the trying conditions, with shifty winds resulting in several course changes the regatta got off to a flying start. There were a few capsizes and the odd gear failure throughout the day, but plenty of smiles and storys around the bar after the action. With some stronger conditions forecast for Day 2, the fleet will again be tested for the first round of championship racing.

20.01.2022 Action will get back underway today for the Sabre Nationals at the Wallaroo Sailing Club!

20.01.2022 The South Australian Sabre Sailing season is now underway at ASC,BSYC,PRSC & SYC. 26 boats have hit the water at the 4 metro clubs on the first few race days. So if you have a Sabre sitting in your shed, dust it off and come and join the fun. Last Saturday for example in a building sea breeze there were some great downwind rides to be had!

20.01.2022 Today the newest Sabre in the country hit the water in wallaroo. Sail no 2150 Amarillo sky thanks to Jim Scott for the boat and John Clifton for the sails. See you in wallaroo for the Nationals in January.

19.01.2022 Day 1 of the training weekend saw 11 boats take to the water at the river. We had 5-10 knotts and a beautiful sunny day. The day kicked off with coach Ryan Kelly running through some theory and answering all those niggling questions. After a quick lunch it was time to hit the water. After a lot of shenanigans (particularly involving Mr Stockhausen) the sailors knuckled down into some proper training. It was great to see everyone pushing each other and putting their new knowledge to the test! The day concluded with a BBQ and debrief, allowing everyone to get home early to rest up for day 2!

19.01.2022 The second day of the 2020 Sabre Nationals at the Wallaroo Sailing Club saw ideal conditions for racing with a building breeze and some choppy seas. Alan Riley came out on top in both races, getting his regatta off to a great start ahead of what looks to be another promising forecast tomorrow. Video by Down Under Sail

16.01.2022 Day 3 of the Sabre Nationals at Wallaroo Sailing Club saw much of the same conditions with strong winds and plenty of chop. In typical Wallaroo fashion, the breeze picked up by the end of the day, giving sailors a well-earned rest for tomorrows lay day.

16.01.2022 Sail Evaluation Process for SA Sabre Sailors; Kelvin has received the Evaluation Flat top sail and is planning delivery of the sail to SA clubs for use and examination during January and February. He also plans consulting with some targeted expert individuals and then collate the feedback for the SA State Association. This will enable the SA Association to present the overall view of our membership and hopefully contribute to the aim of an improved Sabre sail. Formal fe...edback is needed by mid- February for consideration as part of the national evaluation process. If you would like to see or use the sail it is available to all sabre sailors. Your feedback is important and will inform the State and National Association on this important decision for the future of the Class. Further information please contact Kelvin Jeanes mobile : 0488 581 945. See more

03.01.2022 The penultimate day of racing at the 2020 Sabre Nationals at the Wallaroo Sailing Club was over before it started, with gusts of up to 30 knots forcing the race committee to pull the pin for the day. But it was a good chance to delve into a few of the unique stories from the event, like Western Australian Scott Olsen who overcame some major travel mishaps due to the Nullarbor bushfires to make it to the event. 02.01.2022 The fourth day of racing at the 2020 Sabre Nationals at Wallaroo Sailing Club was not the traditional conditions often seen in this part of the world, with hot weather and fickle winds. Only one race was sailed before the day was called off with the race committee unable to set a course in the difficult conditions. Video by Down Under Sail

02.01.2022 A race win to the previously fifth-placed Murray OBrien has slingshot him into contention for the 2020 Sabre National Championship, as an uncharacteristically fluky day in Wallaroo shook things up at the top of the table. Story via Down Under Sail
