24.01.2022 Dear Customers, Whilst some restrictions on restaurants have started to lift, we are still UNABLE TO TAKE OMAKASE BOOKINGS due to the size of our shop. We will continue with our fresh takeaway sashimi packs and pre ordered sushi platters as well as the occasional Uni and Tuna specials when we intercept top quality fish before they reach Japan. For the first time ever, Mr Matsui has intercepted a magnificent portion of the world's most highly prized fish - Hon Maguro ( - meaning "true" or "real"). It is also known as Kuro Maguro ( Black Tuna) , Pacific Bluefin Tuna or the King of Tuna. Last year the Sushi King in Tokyo paid almost $5m AUD for a 278kg specimen. ...As this is an exceptionally rare opportunity, there will be a limit of one pack of Otoro (tuna belly) per customer. A limited amount of other sashimi packs including akami and chutoro will also be available throughout the day. Sushi platters are sold out for the day. PLEASE NOTE: Platters must be ordered at least two days in advance and you must receive confirmation that it has been received before we can guarantee your order. Dear Tuna Lovers, NEWS FLASH: Sashimi Shinsengumi has scored top quality sashimi from a 271kg NSW record breaking Northern Bluefin Tuna. The BIGGEST EVER to come through Sydney Fish Markets ! You know it’s a spectacular fish when it makes the National TV news. Even the fishmongers at the Sydney Fish Markets got excited at the size and quality. Claudio's said it's a twice in a lifetime experience. A similar northern bluefin... tuna was sold last year in Japan for a record $2.6 million. From Tomorrow -Thursday 22nd April, we have special takeaway sashimi packs of Otoro (the light pink belly part that melts in the mouth), Chutoro (pinkish red mid fatty bits) and Akami (the very flavoursome red bits) Prices will vary according to size and pinkness but there will be plenty to suit all budgets. We would like to sincerely apologise for not being able to take all the orders that we received recently. The volume of requests over Easter was high so it was difficult to respond to everyone in a timely manner. Many of you have been very understanding and we thank yo...u for your patience in deferring until next week. Unfortunately we have been unable to clone another Mr Matsui as all the laboratories are busy so there is a limit to how many platters and sashimi packs he can prepare each day. To avoid disappointment, we ask that you please send through your orders at least several days in advance or longer. This will give us a chance to respond to everyone and confirm your order. YOUR ORDER WILL ONLY BE GUARANTEED ONCE YOU HAVE RECEIVED CONFIRMATION VIA SMS. Currently we are unable to tailor your order to your specific preferences so to streamline the process, please choose from the platters on the menu (it's pinned to album on the top of the page.) "Omakase" means "trust the chef" so please be assured that Mr Matsui will always try to get only the freshest seasonal fish of the day from the markets so ingredients may vary slightly. Please Pick up your pre-ordered Platters from midday Midday to 2pm and again from 4pm to 7pm Wednesday to Sunday. ... From 2pm to 4pm we will replenish the fresh sashimi packs and prepare for the evening orders. Sashimi packs will still be available from from 11.30 am to 7pm or until sold.
