14.01.2022 We are delighted to share this amazing resource on #WorldSoilDay where information on Aust soils, #soilchemistry, #soilphysics, #SoilBiology, #acidsulfatesoils is in one place, along with a variety of soil video resources from various soil depart & farm groups from around Aust. We have also used this year to create a series of a short online introductory videos in describing #soilhorizons, #texturing in the field, #ph, #sodicity and #salinity and #nonwettingsoils. https://www.soilscienceaustralia.org.au//general-soil-inf/

05.01.2022 ***** UPDATED LINK ***** WEBINAR ALERT Join Pichu Rengasamy from the University of Adelaide for a lunchtime lecture about the Chemistry of Dispersive Soils. Renga has worked on different aspects of salt-affected soils in Australia for the past 40 years. His research has focused on the chemical physics of sodic and saline soils in irrigated and dryland regions. His collaborative works clearly distinguished sodic soils from saline soils, the former affecting soil phys...ical properties due to dispersive behaviour. He flagged the new concept of degree of ionicity of adsorbed cations influencing sodic behaviour. His works on saline soils, in collaboration with plant scientists, led to the awareness of transient salinity, soil chemistry factors confounding crop salinity tolerance, soil processes affecting crop production in salt-affected soils and breeding strategy for improving tolerance to dispersive soils. If you would like to join this webinar on Thursday 11 February at 1.00 pm ACDT (Adelaide), please click on the following link. https://us02web.zoom.us//register/WN_8TUfG4B2R62TEtJ-TobBhw Alternatively, attend in person at the Waite Campus of Adelaide University Room 205 in the Charles Hawker Building.
