23.01.2022 Today is National Sorry Day, we acknowledge and raise awareness of the history and the continued effect of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from their families, communities, and culture. Sorry Day asks us to acknowledge the Stolen Generations, and because of this it reminds us that historical injustice is still an ongoing source of intergenerational trauma. 15.01.2022 Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia (Idahobit: International Day Against LGBT+ Discrimination). It’s a time to ce...lebrate LGBTQIA+ people while also acknowledging the work that still needs to be done to combat discrimination. We’re committed to supporting our LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and school community today, and every other day, which is why the department has implemented plans and strategies around diversity, inclusion and respect. Our schools and preschools also have a compulsory staff procedure to ensure gender diverse, intersex and sexually diverse children and young people can learn in an inclusive and safe environment, free from discrimination, bullying or harassment. If you’re not sure about what any of the above terms mean, that’s okay! There are plenty of resources you can read to educate yourself. This specific link includes helpful information about how to use pronouns, how to be an ally, and how to use inclusive language: www.minus18.org.au/resources

05.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Lest we forget. This Anzac Day we’ll come together, in person and in spirit, to commemorate the men and women who have served our nation in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
