25.01.2022 Last trip before Xmas. This time to Banana and North Burnett Shires to sort out a few issues.
25.01.2022 One day the 4K TV's we all buy these days might work (with real 4K ultra high definition quality) when Australia finally adopts the DVB-T2 transmission standard. https://www.broadcastaustralia.com.au/second-phase-of-dvb-/

25.01.2022 4K Ultra High Definition is coming. This lift out in last Sundays newspapers covered 4K plans from Foxtel, Netflix, Apple TV and hinted at free to air Broadcasters rolling out their superior 4K picture plans. Australia is one of the last developed nations not to have adopted 4K tv. Its about time. I predict ABC and SBS will offer the first free to air 4K Television services.
24.01.2022 A beautiful morning in Cootamundra for our crew today.
24.01.2022 If youre at the LGAQ conference in Gladstone for the next three days and you are concerned about the loss of ABC and SBS digital television at self help sites then come and have a chat. SBS is not switching until November 23 but ABC has moved already. Not all councils transmit ABC. Many more however do transmit SBS. We can get them back on air and ready for Ultra High Definition.
23.01.2022 We have been testing a variety of satellite decoders to address the ABC and SBS satellite distribution platform changes. Not all decoders are suitable for the D1 change considering the DVB-S2 standard and new modulation format. Further, only the better quality units are DVB-S2X upgradeable. A VAST option again is more manageable on the better Ericsson units. The Chinese brand does not have the required audio standard and is not upgradable. We have found several require firmware upgrades just to decode a VAST cam. This firmware does not seem to be readily available.
23.01.2022 We are very pleased to contribute to this great appeal. I just wish we were able to have contributed more.
22.01.2022 Another issue sorted. STRA can maintain your shire DTV, Radio and Coms site and remotely monitor and trouble shoot at very reasonable rates. Give us a call.
22.01.2022 Annual TV re-transmitter maintenance visit done at Taralga for another year. We will still be monitoring this and many other sites remotely. Is your TV re-transmitter site fault free? We are ready to sort that out for you.
21.01.2022 The view from the Shire of Laverton Hawks Place TV re-transmission tower.

20.01.2022 It was a very warm February when we completed the Cootamundra Gundagai wireless network job.
18.01.2022 Its been a long week and its only Wednesday. We are covering a lot of regions in NSW on our annual re-transmission sites maintenance run. How long has it been since your council site has been checked?
17.01.2022 Before you install any additional transmission equipment such as mobile phone cells, two way Radio or even Wi-Fi you need to realize that all of these, and other additions will raise the noise floor and potentially compromise your TV or radio services. The fix could mean one or more may have to go. An expensive mistake you dont want to make. Check with a reputable broadcast services contractor before you give the green light to more services at your retransmission site.
16.01.2022 We are all set up and ready to chat at the WALGA conference. If you are in Perth for the conference come and say hi.
16.01.2022 Come and see us today, tomorrow or Wednesday at the LGAQ conference at the Brisbane Convention Center

16.01.2022 Satellite Television and Radio Australia (STRA) is a technology and broadcast specialist. It is our job to help our clients understand the practical benefits of new communications, data and broadcast technology and how that will benefit their community or improve their operations. We provide plain English explanations, site surveys and quotes that you dont have to be a technician to understand. Our people have extensive experience in broadcasting, telecommunications and information technology If you are attending the LGAQ conference in Brisbane from Oct 26-31 then please drop in and have a chat.
15.01.2022 When the national broadcasters are making a significant satellite platform change it is best to stick with their hardware recommendations. Trying to do it on the cheap on another satellite service WILL NOT deliver the same results. Clearly the ABC and SBS are upgrading their satellite delivery system to provide an improved service. It is our opinion to do it right, do it once. Call or email us if you wish to know more.
14.01.2022 In Nhulunbuy this week to do the annual site inspection and general maintenance at Mt Saunders. Detailed client site report to follow.
14.01.2022 The Queensland Government have an excellent plan to deliver schooling classes via free to air television. https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au//queensland-government-to

11.01.2022 On the Wild and beautiful West coast of Tasmania at Strahan today doing annual retransmission site maintenance. Triple J is now back on air to by the way.
11.01.2022 Once a year we do this run and can offer a reduced rate when visiting many sites in the one trip.
10.01.2022 This Federal Government funding is very good news for local councils that operate TV and Radio re-transmitter sites for their community and visitors to have free access to these services. Television and radio services are crucial for the dissemination of news, alerts and entertainment. In these times, where daily news may reveal a new set of travel and quarantine conditions, TV and Radio are absolutely essential. Access to this funding now allows councils to repair and upgrad...e these services or install them if the council has never been able to afford to provide TV and Radio services before. Many council digital re-transmitters are now nearly 10 years old and may even be using antiquated underpowered equipment that is no longer manufactured. Quite a few of these old sites have never provided adequate quality or coverage for their communities. This funding allows for such community services to be repaired or upgraded. Please call Satellite Television and Radio Australia if you would like a quote to repair or upgrade your community TV or Radio re-transmitter http://comms.lgaq.asn.au//7afad592-e60b-47a7-aabd-4d1d052b
09.01.2022 Never has there been such a dramatic demonstration of just how valuable free-to-air television and radio services are for remote and regional Australia as right now, during the Corona Virus pandemic. While there are other means to get information, in the remote communities of Australia not all people have reliable access, particularly the elderly and unemployed. A few regional councils are contemplating shutting down their television re-transmission site due to unreliability ...or maintenance costs or both. In the instances that we are aware of, these councils installed cheap, under powered, or modified transmitters. A brand of transmitter common at these sites has not been manufactured for a few years and new parts are not readily available. Typically these sites are unable to provide a good picture or adequate local coverage. STRA continue to upgrade many inadequate DTV re-transmission sites around Australia dramatically improving coverage, reliability and reducing maintenance costs. If you know your local TV or radio re-transmitter is an essential service during times such as now, then talk to us about upgrading and maintaining them for your communitys benefit. Call us on 07 3103 0477 or email [email protected].
08.01.2022 Maintenance done at Taralga TV translator. All good for another year.

06.01.2022 SBS TV back on air at Eidsvold.
05.01.2022 While the nation is locking down we are on the move to ensure the TV and radio services are fault free and reliable for the Richmond community during these challengingly times. Dont worry, we normally work in isolation and will be practicing responsible social distancing. Time to hit the road.
05.01.2022 Installed a mobile FM re-transmitter at Kogan Creek Mine out near Chinchilla Qld today so the pit crew can listen to their favorite ABC FM radio service while they are hauling loads. Its fatigue management and relatively low cost.
05.01.2022 Happy STRA-YA day from STRA.
03.01.2022 Many TV retransmission sites are hidden in remote locations and often with very poor tracks to the site. Out of site out of mind is very true if the facility has been reliable. Its a good idea to run a grader up and down these tracks occasionally- please.
03.01.2022 When a reliable quality low power digital TV transmitter sells for between $18k-$24k and you need five, plus signal head end, 3k UPS, transmit antennas, coax, termination, site telemetry computer and Labour - how can a DTV retransmission site be built for less than $100k? Thats exactly what I was told this week. I guess they will get what they pay for. My guess is they will not get what they think they are getting.

01.01.2022 Another new FM radio services retransmission site has now been established by STRA for the Shire of Wiluna in remote WA. This system now transmits Red FM, Triple J, ABC National and ABC Regional. We will monitor this system remotely from Brisbane and take care of any issues or glitches should that ever happen. Call us if youd like your radio retransmission services to have remote management. Its a lot cheaper than getting a technician to remote sites.
