23.01.2022 It takes will and determination to make a difference, and there is no better time to act than now. Ann Besalo, our Chief Financial Officer, took the #BPOGoodDeedDayChallenge as an opportunity to make a difference in her community. Here's her good deed day story: "People everywhere are grappling with the way COVID-19 has affected daily life. That is why when Satellite Office sponsored this day to make a difference, the immediate thought was we didn’t need to go far to reach ...people that are in need. All we needed to do was look within our community. We partnered with Tomas Bistro and Bar to help prepare food packs and drinks for 70 people which included the frontliners Security Guards, Traffic Enforcers and Policemen. That was meant to be a token of appreciation for their services even in the middle of this global pandemic. But the majority of the food donations were distributed to people living in the streets. While it could have been an option to course the donations through a charitable organization, we knew that there are people in need who didn’t belong to any of these. They are going hungry, feeling neglected, hopeless, and are living day to day, uncertain as to when they will be having their next meal. I cannot help but remember that light shining in their eyes when we randomly stopped and offered the food donations how that small gesture meant the world to them. You could tell how happy they are to have a meal to get them through another day. What I realized throughout all this is that we don’t have to have so much before we can give to others. What matters is being able to share the little things and each of us multiplying that effort, with the hope that everyone ultimately can have something. We don’t need to wait until we are wealthy we just need to find the heart to give." 20.01.2022 On 8 July, Satellite Office began its vaccination drive for its employees in partnership with AC Health. The first 10 doses were administered to staff flawlessly at Ayala’s Makati Stock Exchange site with a second set of 10 to be done early next week in BGC. This is the first step toward the Company’s goal of vaccinating all our employees and family members based on limits, a conscious effort to help the country achieve community safety. Our Country Manager, Jeff Blake, offered his #BPOGoodDeedDayChallenge to the orphans of COTTOLENGO FILIPINO INC, a non-stock, non-profit religious NGO that serves the poorest, abandoned, neglected, surrendered children with disabilities. Read his good deed day story and learn Cottolengo Filipino's mission around "Life is Love". "So often, special needs children are overlooked and thought of as a burden. Unfortunat...ely, many of them are left abandoned. Cottolengo Filipino in Montalban, Rizal provides them with a safe, caring home. During the lockdown periods in the Philippines, Cottolengo has struggled as they rely on visits and donations to sustain their existence. I went to visit the group on July 10 and meet with Fr. Julio Cuesta who is the man who runs the place. Due to the pandemic and the increase in cases in the area, we weren’t able to do a full visit and hang out with the children, but we were able to meet with Fr. Julio and donate the goods and supplies that they desperately need. I was able to see the kids from afar and at least wave to them and see their smiling faces. Working with Cottolengo is something that my family has done for years and only now was I able to finally get a chance to visit. To be able to see what they do on a daily basis was truly inspirational and reminds me how truly lucky I am. Their mission around Life is Love and protecting those members of society that have been discarded is something that we should all aspire to." Hence, the Finance Team have decided and chosen to extend our help to Arugaan ng May Kapansanan ng Maynila, Inc. Angelic Heart Philippines Manila Chapter is their beneficiary for their first project. Through our combined time, efforts, and funds, we were able to provide essential needs of six (6) children. We handed groceries to Ms. Jonna C. Suanes, a representative of Arugaan ng May Kapansanan ng Maynila, Inc. last 10 July 2020. She was very happy that we have selected their organization and thankful for the trust that we have given to them since this is their first project.
