24.01.2022 Corona Update... Hi Satori Dojos Family, I hope this finds you well. Firstly, I'd like to give a huge thanks to the students and families who are continuing their support of the club. We are committed to being here with, and for you.... You may have seen the Prime Minister's address this yesterday on the news. Whilst things are certainly getting more serious, I actually feel confident that the Government is looking after it the best they can, juggling so many factors. The Government has made the decision to keep schools open. (With my limited knowledge) this makes sense to me. Having family in Emergency Services and Health Services, I can see how having the children at home would take so many vital people out of their workplace where we need them the most. At this stage we are still following the Education department guidelines for being open, and will keep classes going as long as it is reasonably safe and practical to do so. The remaining gradings will run as planned (please refer to your grading form for details. These times and days are still current). To reduce social distancing where possible we ask parents not to spectate and photos will take place individually outside after the grading We will be carefully monitoring number in the dojo. Classes will run as per normal, with the strict hygiene standards we've been adhering to in place, plus some other precautions. The best advice we have so far is that the virus is spread either through direct contact, or through being in a "conversation" distance with someone who is infected for around 15 minutes, or in a workplace / office environment for 2 - 3 hours. With classes being run in the format we are (non contact, extra spacing between students, hand sanitation / disinfectant wipes), and particular attention paid to "social distancing" (where possible staying 1.5 meters or more away from others), we can mitigate much of that. From next week, we will be live streaming classes into our Facebook group. We will also start the online tutorials to help with home learning and keeping up with curriculum. We would ask you that where possible you drop your kids off (they will need to be collected from reception). Let's keep working together both on and off the mats, to get through this strongly as a community.

14.01.2022 As the famous quote goes: "with great power comes great responsibility" This is true for super hero's and martial artists alike. It's important to us that our ...students understand that they are responsible for their actions. They know how and when they can use what they've learned in a self defence situation. Students are taught to be responsible for their training partners safety and for the training equipment they use. #resonsibility #karate #martialarts #safety See more

07.01.2022 "Why do you want your child to learn Karate" Parent - "I want them to gain discipline and confidence" Sensei to Parent : "Then here are the things you, as the p...arent need to know and follow no matter what: 1. You must be consistent bringing your child to class. Schedule your Karate days and move things around them so your child doesn't miss classes or attend sporadically. Why? Because discipline and confidence come from doing structured things, not random things. 2. When training gets tough and your child doesn't want to go to class because it's not "fun" you will tell them "get your Gi and let's go" no matter what. Why? Because you can't build discipline on your schedule, only doing what you want when you want. You also can't build confidence by avoiding things that are hard to do or tough. Only by failing and then overcoming that failure can you grow confident. It is not easy but it is worth it. 3. When your child loses interest (which comes and goes by the way) you will say "Get your Gi and let's go". Allowing your child to just give up something because they have lost interest leads to teaching them how to be a failure in life. Teaching your child the value of commitment and seeing things through is part of the discipline process. The loss of interest in kids happens but then they wish they wouldn't have "quit". Teach your child not to be a quitter. 4. You aren't committing to attend Karate. You are committing to get good at Karate and earn your black belt. When your child wants to quit you will say "Are you a black belt yet?" and then say "Get your Gi and let's go". Children who see their training through to black belt will learn what it means to truly earn something which builds confidence and discipline. This will be invaluable in their lives as they grow into adulthood (going off to college and more). 5. Karate will build confidence, discipline, focus and more BUT you have to be committed to it no matter what. You can't just show up when you want and expect your child to gain from it. It takes work so teach your child the value of working hard. When you, the parent, are involved in their training they grow strong in their confidence and discipline. Don't be "that parent" that just lets their kid start and quit things. Get them to the dojo and watch them develop strong, focused, driven and confident so that they can have a great life!

02.01.2022 Those setting goals keep these things in mind. It feels like everyone is setting goals just in time for the New Year, but it turns out most people never achieve... their New Year’s resolutions. With that in mind, we have broken down goal setting into four manageable steps... Write down a big, compelling goal with a completion date. Break the goal down into smaller ‘supporting goals’ that also have completion dates. Tell someone who will be supportive. Ask them to be encouraging and to help hold you accountable. Set some rewards for achieving each supporting goal. The idea is to measure progress and to make it as fun as possible. The more compelling the goal is, and the more fun the rewards are, the more likely you will succeed.
