24.01.2022 Is this you? Are you curious, eager and want to put an end to dissatisfaction and frustration but do not know yet how to go about itthen, please read on? Getting closer to make a NEW YEAR RESOLUTION again? Decisions we tend to make once a year can become habitual something which is easily... said but never or rarely done, followed up or executed. Such decisions are made at the conscious level. However, the moment you state your resolutionsomewhere at the unconscious level the saboteur is already hard at work putting its best efforts forward to keep you as far away from the goal post as possible. Soon, resignation sets in and it is better left for another year. How come? The answer there is no commitment in the first place. Saying: I am going to do something is not compelling enough to carry you and turn anything into decisive action. If you only were a little bit more aware, mindful then you would quickly understand that there is no motivation, nor a driving force behind the call you just made. That reduces everything to spirit of the moment, impulse and that is about all there is to it. What if you could be better prepared, plan and stick to your intention, particularly about something which really means and matters to you? And what about if you did stick to it, enjoying the transition, gathering more motivation as you go along? We all know staying committed and maintaining commitment requires effort, therefore it can quickly fall into the too hard basket. Our negativity bias does not really like to invest effort, at least not initially. It seems resistance to change is too great to overcome. 22.01.2022 Breathing is an unconscious, finely attuned process which allows us to focus and concentrate on activities requiring our immediate attention at home, work, sports or elsewhere. During night time, while fast asleep unconscious breathing enables us to survive without any need for staying awake i.e. conscious attention. However, we know th...at our breathing does change when we get nervous , worried or anxious, let alone in situations of panic. We tend to hastily grasp for air and the gaps between inhalation and exhalation become shorter. Despite those efforts we don’t get a great deal of air into our lungs unless we hyperventilate. We become conscious of our breathing and it feels unnatural and strained. That is because we make a conscious attempt to control the way we breathe hoping it will enable us to get through. There are situations in life when it is important to consciously remember how our breathing can positively impact our emotions to promote calmness or stimulation of the mind depending on the intentions we put forward. These moments present an opportunity gently hinting at our subconscious mind (which normally does a great job without us needing to tell it) how to adjust our breath in a subtle way to better accommodate the circumstances we find ourselves in. The quality (positive and negative) of breathing and the impact it has on our state of health - and wellbeing is highly underrated. A new study carried out by the CSIRO in Australia, surveyed about 4000 CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet online community members indicating that their exercise, emotional wellbeing, and diet had been, to some extent negatively c...ompromised with two in five participants reporting weight gain during the outbreak. CSIRO Behavioural Scientist and report author Dr Emily Brindal described the findings as reflective of the challenges that millions of Australians are facing as they struggle to maintain wellbeing amidst a significant lifestyle shift.
