22.01.2022 YOUR MINING QUESTIONS ANSWERED We put the call out for your questions related to the mining industry during COVID-19. Paul Everingham from the Chamber of Minera...ls and Energy spoke with us and the response can be summarised in the points below: - It is essential for the mining and oil and gas industry to continue working in order to provide jobs, and keep the economy ticking over. If the industry was to shut down, it would be difficult to re-start, and the state may have lost some major contracts due to interrupted supply. - Most corporate roles which can be done from home, are being done from home. Only critical numbers of staff are being asked to remain on site to keep operations ongoing. - Fly-in fly-out workers coming into WA are considered essential and therefore do not need to self-isolate for 14 day upon arriving into WA for work, or if they work FIFO interstate and are returning to WA for their off swing. This is the case in most states and a national framework is being developed. - Interstate FIFO workers are having their temperatures checked at the airport in their home state, they are being flown over on planes restricted to FIFO resources industry workers, theyre being checked again before going onto site. - On site all employees are subject to infectious disease management plans. Each site has quarantine and isolation zones away from the main camps and workforce. Work is being changed to ensure physical distancing where possible. Meals are being staggered, buffet and bistros are changing to pre-packaged meals, gyms are closing, and crowds at start up meetings are being dispersed. - Mining companies are considering changes to their rosters to introduce longer swings which would see less movement of workers in and out of site, and in and out of WA. Some companies are re-locating workers where possible to stay either locally near site, or elsewhere in WA for the duration of the pandemic in order to restrict movement between states. - If a worker presents with symptoms, they will be isolated and a trace exercise will be carried out to identify anyone the worker has been in contact with. They will be tested, then if they are positive either flown to Perth on the RFDS (if it is a critical case), or a charter flight will take them to the nearest available regional hospital or to Perth (if the case is not critical). - Workers movements are being restricted so as to minimise any impact on the towns the mines operate in. Companies are also considering setting us testing facilities for their workers which could also be accessed by the general community. - Vulnerable / high risk workers are being approached by their employers and asked whether they feel comfortable remaining on site, and being asked to contact their doctor regarding continuing at work. If theyre comfortable theyre able to continue working, if not theyre allowed to go home until they feel safe to return. - These changes are likely to impact production, however its currently unknown to what extent that might be. It is expected these changes will see opportunities for local employment as other workers get sick and companies try to limit the movement of workers across the states. In closing, Paul Everingham said we are working our arses off to keep people healthy and safe, everywhere we operate. And I want to keep getting that message across. Its in our best interest theres no big breakout in the regions, because if there is thatll impact us.

12.01.2022 So back in March some of our staff flew over from the Eastern states for their 2 week rostered swing.... and just never got back! Covid-19 and the travel restrictions have meant that it has been months since some of our staff have been able to get back home. Our Eastern staters are an integral part of our workforce and we wish them all the best

09.01.2022 For all of our staff and contractors - past and present - who live on the Eastern states and are affected by the bushfires, we sincerely hope you, your friends and family are safe. While the news and social media are divided and throwing blame, there are ways we can support people who have been affected, lost homes or been evacuated. Our firefighters and wildlife need our support too! https://www.wires.org.au... https://www.koalahospital.org.au/ https://www.redcross.org.au//disaster-relief-and-recovery- https://donate.vinnies.org.au//vinnies-nsw-bushfire-appeal

08.01.2022 https://www.watoday.com.au//fmg-slashes-fifo-flights-by-40 There have been lot of changes to the way we conduct ourselves within the mining industry over the past few weeks, in order to reduce the spread of Corona Virus. The change in the way rosters are structured will reduce the amount of flights and turnover of mining staff. We are very fortunate that the mining industry is still ticking over when many people are facing unemployment and uncertain futures.
