24.01.2022 Outside of the business, a big part of my life is family and a big part of my family is this little guy. Guys... meet Finn. He is great at popping up in my stories by running in front of the camera and theres always an ear or tail in all of my flat lay images. This is what happens when you sprawl out on the floor at his level. ... My partner, Zak, and I decided to get a puppy a little under a year ago to keep me company in the office. I had been feeling very isolated having gone from a busy office environment to a working from home and little Finny was the answer! He is a little ratbag but makes me laugh when times are tough and work has bogged me down. He also has the biggest and loudest personality and commands the attention of any room. My partner, Zak, and I decided to get a puppy a little under a year ago to keep me company in the office. 23.01.2022 Who likes studying? I am here to talk to you all about study nooks! Its that part of the home that not much thought goes into. Its a last-minute.. oh gosh I need a nook for the kids to do their homework in or a space for me to pay the bills in right? Well for me... my study nook is more like a full-blown office with a desk for me and one for my assistant but for most of you out there you need only a small neat space to get stuff done.. or hide the kids ...in! We have just designed the cutest study nook! - go check out our story to see it. But this study features doors... to lock in the mess or lock in the kids until they finish their homework? Good idea right? In the past making our studies pretty hasnt really been a big priority. But research shows if we feel calm and happy in our study we will be much more productive. So we added features the homeowner said would help her feel calm in her study nooks like sage green panelling and timber. Hopefully, this produces some calm for her while shes paying those damn bills! What would you need in your study to produce that feeling of calm? I need a clean work desk, some greenery and a coffee SketchUp for Interior Designers SketchUp
22.01.2022 What do you think about all white designs? boring or versatile Clean? Light and airy? Versatile? YES! Boring? Bland? One dimensional? NO! ... This Three Birds project is showing us how white can work in all the right ways. Using texture is a great way to add dimension to a room when playing with white. The Beams are such a beautiful feature and painting them in white rather than keeping the timber texture exposed makes the room look massive!! There are so many possibilities with a white room, like adding colour! Name a colour that doesnt go with white... Cmon! Timbers, pastels, vibrant colours. Literally whatever you like White does not have to be boring! Get creative and dont be afraid to experiment. Having white as the base colour for your spaces means you can change it up whenever you like! Three Birds Renovations LoungeLovers

22.01.2022 Warm and inviting... that's what we all wish to feel in our entry way's right? Well here's a good example of how to do it Defining the area where your front door is, is so important to create a sense of welcome. @mcmhouse has done this by the plant off to the side, the front door is set back with a porch in front and the glass in the door makes it obvious that that is the front entrance.
22.01.2022 Check out the comparison between the real deal and the 3D concept render? So for those of you who dont what a 3D render is, basically its a hyper-realistic image taken from a 3D software. So we throw in your design and colours in and produce an image that is life like of what your design will turn out to be. HOW DAMN COOL IS THAT! ... For instance, check out the above pic.. beautiful kitchen right? but the clients had a slightly different vision to start with but once I showed them a 3d render of what that looks like they werent 100% in love. But we changed a couple things around and now they have the kitchen of their dreams. Swipe to see the 3D render... pretty close to the real deal hey? 20.01.2022 My journey So you are all probably wondering how an interior designer finds herself living in rural Tasmania... I wonder myself too somedays A lot of people assume I am from Smithton... but nope. I am actually originally from QLD So how did I find myself here? My parents fell in love with the apple isle next thing you knew I was being thrown in the car and off we went. ... I lived in Spreyton right up until my first year of Uni when I made the big (only an hour away ) move to the the big city (less than 100K people) of Launceston to pursue a Bachelor of Interior Design. Then... I met the love of my life. Gross, I know. For those of you who dont know me personally his name is Zak, and he is 5 years older than me which created a few barriers. Little 18 y/o me in 1st year dating a 4th year He finished up his degree and got offered the position of a lifetime in little old Smithton. So after I finished up my own degree I did a year as a Kitchen Designer for a joinery showroom in Launceston before that long-distance and 3-hour Friday night drives to Smithton got the better of me and I caved. Guys... I MOVED TO THE COW COUNTRY FOR LOVE. Makes me cringe with the cheese of it all Anyway, I started my business out of our spare room and here we are 2 years later, running a 6 figure interior design studio in the middle of nowhere. Its so funny how things work out. Anyway, thats my story. I would love to know yours too. Marketing with Amy

Try muted pops of colour They are a lot less stressful to the eye and you dont need a university degree to put together a nice muted colour palette. ... 16.01.2022 Styling your space? There are a few things to keep in mind when youre styling a room, but here are some things to pop at the top of your checklist when putting it all together! Furniture, it may not seem like a no brainer, but when thinking of the positioning of furniture we have to decide what is going to be functional for everyone. Do we want to be in a good position for chatting or just watching television in the living room? where is the afternoon sun goin...g to hit?.. Art, not having any art on your walls can make a room look incomplete, it doesnt have to be over the top, but pick out a few pieces you love and arrange them however you like. Lighting, it can be a complex part of your design, but when deciding on your lighting think about the room and how you want to use it if its the living room having a light in the ceiling with a dimmer can be great for versatile uses and a floor lamp if youre reading. There are so many things to keep in mind when styling, but it should be fun and you should follow your heart! If you need assistance we are always here Repost - @kmode_stylist
15.01.2022 If visualising all of your ideas together is something you struggle with, keep reading! Flat lays are the best way to put materials, colours, and textures together to see how they work. You will see me sitting on the floor in all sorts of showrooms laying out different products and materials to make sure they work! You can do it too. Be confident and take your time in showrooms. 14.01.2022 BATHROOM MATERIAL TIP #1 - Make your bathroom decent and cover those surfaces Assuming you bathe and are also in a regular habit of brushing your pearly whites every day, it’s fair to assume that your bathroom is a commonly used space. In high use spaces like these, it’s important to get the ‘foundations’ right, so to speak. Make sure you’re choosing the correct surfaces that can withstand foot traffic, hair straighteners being dropped and potential fake ta...n smears. This is where you can afford to spend a little more for the reassurance you’re buying quality and won’t have to spend more down the track replacing these surfaces. 12.01.2022 Visualisation... Easy for some, not so much for others. Sketches can be a great way for us to communicate our ideas with clients when words just arent enough. If youre anything like me, trying to see the end product before anything has been done can be a little challenging. In the very first stages of working with any client who struggles with visualisation, Sav will create sketches so she can communicate her ideas before starting anything. 11.01.2022 Wanna know how to pack a punch in your entryway? You need to implement the following three things to design yourself a successful entryway... 1. A feature. Something to draw your eye further into the room. For example, in this image, they have incorporated a sweeping stone wall that not only brings your eye up to the ceiling but also further into the room to the entry stairs! Thats a WOW feature for sure! ... 2. Lighting. Make sure your entryway has some sort of interesting light that is both practical and pretty. This one, for instance, draws your sight upward but its an opaque linen texture which offsets the heavy rough stone with its softness. Plus they have incorporated stairway lighting so in the evening you will be able to find your way up the stairs without stubbing toes 3. Wayfinding. This may be a new term to you and apologies for using industry speak but wayfinding basically describes the sense of knowing where you are to go next. Sometimes you enter a home and your not quite sure which way to go. That my friend is bad wayfinding and your floor plan is usually to blame. But this one has a staircase which is basically screaming WELCOME and come on up and the changes in texture on the flooring help define the steps so you know exactly where you are to go. If you have more questions about entryways DM me! Id love to know what part of your entry design you are struggling with. designer: Oak and Orange https://oakandorange.com.au/front-facade-%26-entry

03.01.2022 FlashBack Friday - Wanna check out where we started at Jackson Street? might be my biggest bathroom transformation of 2020 Bit of back story - This tired old bathroom's floor was rotted out and sloping down, the vinyl tiles were lifting and mouldy, and the colours were well how do you put it? Like a milkshake? But not in an appetising way. The baby pink subway's made room for a stunning green kit kat tile and the blue pedestal basin was ripped... out (in pieces I might add... this puppy was heavy!) and a bespoke blackwood vanity was put in its place. I love our Jackson Street transformation. Do you? Comment an emoji below that accurately explains your feelings about this transformation. 02.01.2022 We love our Hill Farm project clients Not only is it lovely to get feedback from our clients, but its also super helpful! We devour every word of all our client feedback and it gives us a view into clients perspective re-affirming that the way we run things is for the betterment of our clients experience with us. Savannah took the stress out of the building process, she was the referee between my wife and I when we couldnt make a decision.... We opted to upgrade our package to include the 3D rendering, Savannah gave us so many ideas throughout this process to ensure the end product was exactly what we wanted. Highly recommended for the money you spend on a new build. Savannah wrote back to emails very promptly and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!! Adam & Sarah Your feedback is something we will always take seriously! We absolutely love hearing from you guys, and working on the Hill Farm Project was filled with fun times.
