24.01.2022 Social media is not real life I use social media to connect with you and to help you in your new build or renovating projects, but it is just a highlight reel, it doesn't show the reality of the behind-the-scenes of running my business. To the outside, my business and I look put together and picture-perfect. That's what marketing is for right? ... But did yall' know I work in my jammies? In a spare room of our falling apart rental? A rental that my partner and I share with a friend of ours? Which is full of mixed-matched furniture from all three of our old UNI houses? So for an interior designer, running a 6 figure business and living her best life, I may have the most unconventional living situation that, does in no way, reflect what I do for a living and the beautiful homes I design for my clients. and you know what! That is absolutely fine. So next time when you are on social media and feeling disheartened by all the things you are seeing, especially if it's something you see from me, remember that you are seeing the best of your life and we all live normal messy lives. If it helps.. imagine me having not had a shower in my jammies typing out this message as you are reading this

21.01.2022 Here is a series of kitchen floor plans I have designed - that my clients have loved!! As you can see from all these plans they take into account the following issues, and solve them! The dishwasher, bin and sink are all within one step of each other making cleaning up after meals a breeze... There is a designated space out of view for the kettle, toaster and coffee machine. Ample food and appliance storage. You can never have too much. But you can easily have too little. Mainly drawers and minimising the need for under bench cabinets. Are you tall? or have mobility issues? no one wants to crouch or get on their hands and knees to find the loose Tupperware right up the back? Almost no under bench corner cabinets. These are useless. I would much rather give you an extra bank of drawers then try to utilise that 'useless' corner space, let it be useless, and provide better storage elsewhere. Have you learnt anything you want to incorporate into your kitchen? Obviously, these plans aren't likely to suit your space as you can see each one of these plans are unique and bespoke to the client's floorplan, but hopefully, you have gained an idea for yours! Don't hesitate to get in touch if you need help with your kitchen layout! Get it right once and never have to do it again right..

16.01.2022 Welcome to Winter Are you a Winter person? If so I am sure you are glad that we have hit your favourite season. If not though, you would not be happy that the weather has got so cold. So to warm you up, I thought I would drop some Winter fire place Inspo for you to create the perfect cosy space. I love designing fireplace's, here are some of my favourite designs we have done! ... 3 Tips to create a cosy space layers - lot's of layering of textures, woven materials and plush cushions or add some curtains in front of your blinds to add texture Dim lighting - use lots of floor lamps and table lamps so you have the option to control your lighting to create a darker moodier and cosier space of an evening Fire - light that puppy up! If you don't have a fire I would grab some candles with warm scents like cinnamon or pine tree's, scents that evoke the sense of warmth Let me know if you are going to try any of these cosy space tips??

14.01.2022 This HUGE tip will change your kitchen life I call it the 'after-meal clean-up hack' (please help me with the name... it's so bad!) but basically this hack is simple. It is all about the arrangement of your sink, bin, and dishwasher. They should all be in a line, and depending on your preference should be arranged as such; bin, sink, and dishwasher (left to right or vice versa depending on your preference).... Why do you ask? Imagine you have had all the kids dump their plates on the bench after a very yummy dinner. Then you have to scrape each plate individually into the bin, rinse it into the sink, and then stack it in the dishwasher. Now imagine if those weren't in that order, or the bin was in the pantry and the sink is in the main kitchen! A PAIN IN THE BUTT right? It will simplify and systemise cleaning up after tea. It is the little things like this that make your life easier, more efficient, and just feel like a dream! Does your kitchen have this layout? Also, help me out with a name for this system! It needs something wittier than my attempt of 'after-meal cleanup hack'

07.01.2022 Are you ready for another end to the year?? Not 2021 haha, don't worry, I know it is going fast, but it isn't going that fast As we come up to the End of the Financial Year I have been thinking about the fact that I need a break. I need a re-set. In the building industry, we have seen the biggest boom since I was born. ... That is both exciting and tiring for a professional in that field.. so I need a break! How about you? Do you need a rest too?

07.01.2022 Designing a new kitchen?? Then don't forget this... A DAMN CHARGING DRAWER! ... Like how cool! We have so many devices that all need charging, iPhone, laptops, tablets, watches etc It's crazy! Why not hide all those ugly cords and chargers in a drawer in your kitchen? Ask your joinery for a charging drawer when you come to designing your kitchen! Is this something you would love to have in your kitchen? Let me know!

07.01.2022 How to achieve balance with new/modern and comfy/homey?? I have been loving all the questions I have been getting from you about helping to renovate or build your dream homes. This one has come up a few times and these are my top tips if you want a home that is modern but you still want it to be comfy and welcoming. ... Add lots of texture - this can be done by using wall cladding like Porta Timber or Easy Craft wall panelling. This can also be done with your furniture and decor, like using sheer curtains over the top of your roller blinds and incorporating rattan and linens. Timber - Use lots of warm timbers. You can do it through the flooring, wall panelling, joinery etc. Timber gives you the warmth and pops of colour you need if you don't actually want to use colour. Avoid grey - Some grey is great but in a new home this can cool the look down so try using oatmeal/sand coloured carpet instead of grey, choose oak look timbers instead of grey or black timbers and try using colours like sage green, or warm greys instead of cool greys. Tell me if you dream of a home that is both modern and comfy?

03.01.2022 This is where I see people go wrong with their kitchen Renos They are so worried about not having enough storage that they sacrifice the look and feel of the kitchen by packing in storage everywhere! When sometimes what a kitchen needs is some open space, breathing room, and a bit of openness. Don't get me wrong I am 100% all for storage, but I am about smart storage not storage for storage sake. ... Take a look at some of these kitchens above that we could have done a full set of overheads for but would have been way too overpowering. A bit of openness saved the aesthetic of these kitchens, and made the kitchen look bigger than it was! Tell me if you think your kitchen has too much storage or not enough??

01.01.2022 Don't make these mistakes when you are planning your kitchen floorplan layout I design A LOT of kitchens! I guess that is expected when that is what I do for my job and it is my speciality But because of that, I know the do's and don'ts when it comes to your perfect kitchen design. ... These are the most common mistakes I see when people are planning out their kitchen floorplan that you want to avoid! 1 Hide those damn appliances. They clutter up your benchtops and make for a messy looking kitchen no matter how tidy they are. Allow for hidden appliance cabinets or bench space in a pantry, give the kettle and toaster a permanent home that isn't in the middle of the kitchen! 2 Bin Drawer - Sink - Dishwasher... this is the correct way to layout this area. When you have finished your meal you scrape into the bin, rinse in the sink and stack it into the dishwasher. Any other layout is unproductive! 3 If you have space, get that oven out from under the cooktop and into a wall oven tower... I have always viewed this layout as dangerous. You have spitting hot oil in a pan with a panhandle hanging about and you are bending down to floor level to get a hot dish out of the oven. That spells disaster to me. Put it in a wall oven tower at bench height.. safe and sound! Your back will thank me, and your toddlers wandering hands too... What layout issues do you have in your kitchen that you would love to change?
