18.01.2022 Bad news from last night's Council Meeting - Councillors voted 8-5 in support of leasing the Duncraig Leisure Centre to the Churches of Christ Sports and Recreation Association for 5 years with a 5 year option at the bargain basement lease fee of $5k pa. Thanks to Crs Suzanne Thompson, John Raftis and Russell Poliwka for speaking in support of the community and shame on the two local Councillors Hamilton-Prime and Fishwick for supporting the lease proposal. Thanks to our Supporters for turning up and asking questions of the City even though the responses were pathetic!!

07.01.2022 The City of Joondalup says the Duncraig Leisure Centre is not up to "current benchmarked leisure industry standards" and is "not classed as a modern day leisure facility"!! Their solution is to outsource it to a private organisation. The City hasn't asked the local community what we think. They have just stopped spending money on promoting it and now say it is underutilised. We say this community building belongs to the community, sits perfectly in its location adjacent as it is to our small community library and community garden and we say it must continue to be managed for the community, not for private gain. Contact your Councillor at the City of Joondalup and ask them to vote against the outsourcing of the Duncraig Leisure Centre.

06.01.2022 This is the Duncraig Leisure Centre built by the Wanneroo Shire for the ratepayers in the 1970's. It is used and loved by the local community.

04.01.2022 This is why we want to keep the Duncraig Leisure Centre in community hands. It is part of our community corner which has the Duncraig Library and Community Garden. Community is the key to social isolation. We must save management of our community leisure centre from privatisation by the City of Joondalup. Upgrade and keep the creche and fitness classes that are threatened with closure.

03.01.2022 Published in the Joondalup Times 21 May 2020. Still waiting to hear when this outsourcing proposal is going to Council.

01.01.2022 Our FOI application resulted in 30 documents from the City of Joondalup. This letter reveals the City had planned the "handover" of the Duncraig Leisure Centre to the Churches of Christ Sport and Recreation Association in 2019. Having to "consult" with the user groups was an inconvenience!! That makes two for the Churches of Christ business arm - Warwick and Duncraig. What is next???
