25.01.2022 An open letter to the timber and agriculture employees of the southwest, The Save Our Donnelly River Association was formed to protect, preserve and restore the Donnelly River ecosystem, including flora and fauna both aquatic and terrestrial. We are not against the timber industry, or agriculture, though changes need to be made in both industries not only for the survival of the environment, but for the survival of those industries.... When a grove of 300 year old trees are eligible to be logged under the current old growth legislation, something needs to be changed. When there is more water in private dams than runs down the Donnelly over a 2 year period, something needs to be changed. We need both of these industries strong and healthy and a strong healthy environment benefits both industries. It’s been too one-sided for too long, we need to do better with what we have left than we have been. We have been clearing forest for 150 years in the southwest, rainfall is documented as declining for 100 years. These things are linked, big trees create rainfall. Where does that leave the agriculture industry in 10-20 years? It’s not sustainable. For every 1mm of decreased rainfall, there is 3mm decreased runoff into dams. There is little to no runoff from the forests because the environment doesn’t create it. Runoff is damage from where the forests used to be. In 150 years of clearing, 90% of the original forests are gone, and none of the trees that were 150 years old or more have been replaced. Where does that leave the timber industry in 10-20 years? It’s not sustainable. It’s not sustainable means that if you want to stay employed in your industry, it must change. By helping save the environment you are helping save your family farm and ensure jobs for your kids in your industry. Please feel free to email me directly at [email protected] if you have concerns or would like to know more. Hopefully we can work together towards a future that we can all agree on and live in. Sincerely, Anton Troy President Save Our Donnelly River Association

25.01.2022 We are humbled to have your confidence in this fight and hope to move from strength to strength as our organisation grows. Please check out the link below to help finance the fight.

25.01.2022 With such a prestigious event as John Butler playing in Manjimup soon, you'll want to be dressed appropriately! Check out our merchandise page for Tshirts and caps :)

25.01.2022 Don't forget folks, our petition against the Southern Forest Irrigation Scheme parliament is still going strong!. Online petitions do little and it takes a handwritten petition to force a debate in parliament and take a closer look at the facts. Just click on the link, print it out, get signatures and post it back by October 15th!

24.01.2022 Recently we took reknowned local artist Kim Perrier down to the destruction at Record Brook to see for himself what’s at stake ..... cheeky bugger was recording and I didn’t know!

24.01.2022 This ancient sentinel out dates colonial settlement in this country It deserves better than to be put under threat by a dam for greed

23.01.2022 If you haven't already seen this movie, I highly recommend it. And of course, John Butler is playing in Manjimup!

23.01.2022 "Timber is a valuable tool in the climate change battle" This is the kind of propaganda that exists out there to continue to misinform and misdirect the public who just don't know better. What it SHOULD read is ....... "TREES are a valuable tool in the climate change battle"

22.01.2022 A huge shout out to Wendy of the Nannas for Native Forests for sneaking what is now my favourite picture of the Stewart Tree! I took a quiet moment to connect with the largest living organism I had ever touched, 85m tall with a 30m canopy and who knows how deep and widespread the roots go .... Thanks Wendy, this one might just make my wall!

22.01.2022 Labor is complacent on this issue LNP support the SFIS The Greens are the only party openly and actively against the SFIS Put your support where you will

22.01.2022 With already a dozen petitions returned and dozens more out there, it's still not too late to get involved! Click on the link below, print out a petition and get signatures, it's that easy. Just post them back by October 15th so we can table the petition in parliament this year.... A massive thank you to all those who have made the effort so far!

22.01.2022 Don’t forget folks, THIS Saturday in North Fremantle

22.01.2022 What we are trying to save ....

21.01.2022 As you may be aware, the SFIS has finally agreed to hold an open public forum to talk about the dam, after more than a year of refusing to engage the public on the issue. Naturally, it's on this Thursday when most people have to work, between 9am and 5pm. If you are available to be in Manjimup, I encourage you to attend the Manjimup Town Hall in Rose St and express your concerns, ask your questions.... Ask Jeremy how many times he has been down to the inundation site and seen what he is lining up to destroy. Ask how they think they will fill the dam when DWER have predicted the reliability of supply at 45%, not 95% Ask them if they are going to be refunding any monies received from farmers buying into a scheme that cannot deliver what was quoted. Ask them how they can justify destroying so many trees, so much habitat, for an empty dam.

21.01.2022 Sound familiar? It's the same issues over and over again. Build it and increase the take.... Kill everything downstream, including tourism, jobs, communities, and the environment. When will they learn? When we stand up and stop them!

21.01.2022 The calendars have arrived and the look awesome!! Today is the last day for the introductory price of $18.95, get in quick and take advantage!

21.01.2022 Make no mistake, this is happening in Australia.

21.01.2022 All set at the Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival. Starts at 9am today. Let’s end this scheme (Southern Forest Irrigation Scheme - SFIS) once and for all. There ...are better, more equitable solutions for water security without the environmental impact of inundating 160 hectares of beautiful healthy forest. Don't Dam the Donnelly Save our Donnelly River See more

20.01.2022 Please note folks .... profanity on this page is automatically blocked and reviewed prior to being released for public viewing. In most cases profanity will be allowed except in the instance where it is directed towards a person in an abusive or demeaning manner. (Keeping in mind I don’t manage to see absolutely every single post and comment)... Generally there will be a warning, but in some cases, or if the warning goes unheeded, that person will be banned from this page. In over a year, I have only had to ban three people. Trolling is permitted, if you can do it respectfully.

20.01.2022 Here's a water summary from a redneck West Manjimup farmer :)

20.01.2022 Is this the fate of the dozen or more big Karri at the SFIS inundation site? Not if we can help it! These Karri are hundreds of years old and yet not protected.... Mark McGowan constantly says old growth forest is protected. Just how old does it have to be??

20.01.2022 In response to the misleading ad the SFIS ran in last weeks MB Times Not one drop ....

20.01.2022 In other parts of the world, they are realising the environmental damage that dams create, and are tearing them down. Yet we want to build new ones ....

20.01.2022 Christmas Eve 2020, a time to look back and reflect more than ever before. It’s been a tough year for many people, many industries, many families, many countries. Here in WA it’d be easy to forget that the global pandemic is still raging worse than ever before. Wherever you are, however your life has played out this year and however it looks for the future. Whatever your beliefs or politics, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year.... Thank you all for your support, we look forward to working with you more next year. The SODRA team

19.01.2022 This Saturday, we will be attending the Manjimup Cherry Festival! Shirts, caps and calendars will be available at the stall, as well as information on the Donnelly River, Record Brook, The Stewart Tree, and all the things the SFIS don't want you to know about how they intend on destroying the environment for profit. A huge thank you to all our volunteers who have pitched in to make this possible!

19.01.2022 All over the world and the rest of the country, it's becoming obvious that dams do not work .... except to the government of WA

19.01.2022 On Monday, the EPA is expected to release their review of the SFIS proposal for the dam at Record Brook, and subsequent pumping of billions of litres out of the Donnelly River. It begins the period where we, the citizens of Western Australia MUST exercise our democratic right to write to the EPA and object to this failed and ludicrous scheme. The submission period is due to finish around mid February, 2 weeks prior to the State election.... We have this opportunity to make a lot of noise and tell the very popular government that environmentally, they are not doing good enough! Soon there will be templates and summary points on our website to assist you in the process of writing a submission. Watch this space

19.01.2022 Come in and talk with us to better understand the scheme is what the ad in the paper said But they refused to answer any questions that didn’t consist of How do I sign up for water? Another empty box of consultation ticked, no hordes of people, just existing member and a handful of people they refused to speak to.... The consultation is as much a farce as the scheme itself. They refused to answer questions because they have no answers!

19.01.2022 The environmental threat the SFIS presents is able to be defined, not just in litres, or hectares, but in the wildlife it will help push even further up the endangered ladder ....

18.01.2022 Kim Taylor tells it how it is. A powerful watch

18.01.2022 This is what we are trying to save .... not one drop!!

17.01.2022 Recent news articles have shown a labour shortage for the orchards in the Southwest which may affect prices for produce as there are not enough backpackers available to do the seasonal work of fruit picking. Are these the hundreds of jobs the SFIS is touting to produce? Seasonal imported non-local workers? We hear a lot that this proposal is in response to the Water for Food initiative. WA production of Avocados was 18,578 tonnes. WA consumption of Avocados was only 4,798 to...nnes. (2014) Australia produces 3 times the amount of food we eat. The reality is that the SFIS is water for export profit, using imported labour. We have food security in this country, we don't need to expand agriculture, especially at the expense of the environment. Meanwhile if you are available and seeking work, it's a great time of year to be in our Southwest! You might even be able to swim in the Donnelly, visit our forests, see the Stewart Tree ....

17.01.2022 Some people feel our organisation is attacking the timber industry. I personally work in the construction industry, timber flooring to be precise. I, of all people recognise the need for a timber industry. The construction industry is what has kept this country going during Covid. Now consider this .... 85% of the timber industry in WA is renewable plantation timber.... Native forest logging accounts for 15% of the timber industry. 85% of what they log goes to wood chips, charcoal, or trash. Only 15% of native logging proceeds goes to construction or furniture. These figures come from the FPC 15% of 15% is 2.25% ..... our native forests contribute around 2% of timber to the construction industry. 2% If we destroy the environment, the effect on the timber industry will be far more than that If we destroy the environment, agriculture will suffer more than if we restore it If we destroy the environment, tourism will suffer more than if we restore it In fact, if we restore the environment, all three industries will do better So if you are worried about your job, or your kids future, or your industry, or breathing .... protect the environment Literally nothing can survive without it, including you

17.01.2022 Don’t forget folks, just a few days left to get these stunning calendars at the reduced price!

16.01.2022 Just in time for Christmas! Get one of these stunning calendars on your wall this year with incredible images of the Donnelly River and surrounding ecosystem. Take advantage of the preorder sale, first batch posting out on about the 10th December.

15.01.2022 The MB Times following up on a disgraceful decision by the the Standing Committee on Environment and Public Affairs This is not a contentious issues between farmers It’s a contentious issue to anyone in the state who knows about this secretive scheme... For shame Labor, for shame

15.01.2022 This has been our point all along. If you clear forest for agriculture, it rains less for agriculture. Having changed 90% of the SW landscape for a growing human population, it's extremely evident that climate change is accelerating and the ecology is out of balance.... If we kill off the environment, we will kill off ourselves. The Donnelly River is the artery that sustains the ecosystem, it must be protected for the environment, for industry, for ourselves. Enough.

15.01.2022 It was our privilege to host the Nannas at the Stewart Tree this weekend. A fine bunch of dedicated ladies who know their stuff! Thank you for your support!

14.01.2022 If you would like to put up a protest banner in your yard, we have done all the work for you! Click on the link, there's 5 banners to choose from, follow the prompts and you'll have a banner arrive within about a week for $25 plus S&H directly from Officeworks. It's that easy!

14.01.2022 Corporate monoculture is a failed business model. Why does our government support it? Because mom and pop farmer don’t have deep pockets ....

14.01.2022 We’ve always acknowledged how important the agriculture industry is around the Donnelly River Ecosystem, in fact many farmers don’t support the SFIS scheme because of the environmental damage it will cause, and because it’s simply not needed. Great to hear a good news story coming out of the region, well done guys

14.01.2022 Tune in tomorrow evening to 6PR 882AM radio at 5:30pm to listen to Dr Russell Hanley, WA branch president of the Australian Trout Foundation discuss the SFIS and the implications to the environment, fishing industry and associated tourism in the region.

13.01.2022 It's not just the forest and the river at risk from the SFIS, it's the creatures that live there that are being pushed further and further towards extinction

13.01.2022 From a local farmer

13.01.2022 Tune in this evening to 6PR 882AM radio at 5:30pm to listen to Dr Russell Hanley, WA branch president of the Australian Trout Foundation discuss the SFIS and the implications to the environment, fishing industry and associated tourism in the region.

12.01.2022 Pretty much sums it up ....

12.01.2022 The EPA review on the SFIS proposal to build a dam on Record Brook and withdraw 12 billion litres from the Donnelly River is due this month. The public submission period is expected to run until early to mid February. This is what it takes to stop this dam, nothing less. Public opinion expressed in a consise manner to the people who make the decision.... Soon, there will be information compiled on our website on how to write a submission to the EPA and the relevant facts in regard to this proposal. If you want to know what you can do to save OUR Donnelly River, this is it!

12.01.2022 The natural flow of water in the environment. Not runoff, water permeating through the forested ground, filtering, feeding the environment and eventually finding the river. One good rainfall event can flow into rivers and streams like this for months.... The big trees expirate the water that sustains them as vapour, which creates more rain. Knock down established trees, create less rain. It’s so simple, we teach this in primary school, so why is our government struggling with this concept??

12.01.2022 The purpose of the Save our Donnelly River Association is to protect, preserve and restore the Donnelly River ecosystem including flora and fauna, both aquatic and terrestrial. If you would like to know more about what we do and/or how you can help, please feel free to reach out via PM or these contact details. We appreciate your support for our efforts!

11.01.2022 It doesn’t matter who you are, the SFIS plan makes no sense! Trout fishermen know the Donnelly River is the best and last river left in the region that supports tourism, and they help keep the non-native numbers down. It must be stopped, for sanity’s sake!

11.01.2022 Our forests are worth more standing The environment contributes massively to agriculture and tourism, if you care about jobs in these industries, you need to protect it.

11.01.2022 As far as I know there is an owner of a local pub who supports the SFIS proposal, and there is one owner of a local pub who doesn’t. Guess which one I am eating dinner at tonight? We now have 4000 followers on Facebook, we can express our opinion at the upcoming election with our vote. ... We can express our opinion locally with our wallet. If you are a local business who opposes the SFIS proposal, post here and gain the support of many MANY likeminded consumers

10.01.2022 Check out our new protest banners!!! Order online for about $25 direct from Officeworks and get one up in your yard. Tell your local leaders to Save Our Donnelly River! It's election time, and this is an election issue no matter how much Mr McGowan doesn't want it to be ....

10.01.2022 Locals exercising their voice

10.01.2022 We see a lot of people who are proponents of the SFIS purely because of the potential spending of $80 million in the region. The region gets overlooked for funding all the time in tourism, Manjimup is treated like the Osborne Park of the Southwest, an industrial hub with nothing else going for it. Tourism revenue is completely overlooked in this sentiment as there are numerous untapped resources in the natural world that simply need eco development.... Building a large empty hole in the middle of the forest will make it worse, not better. The $80 million would do better being spent on something sustainable, ecologically sound, and that actually works.

10.01.2022 Don't forget you can listen to our conversation with Barry Green from Western Tourist Radio at the below link, or tune in to Radio WA 87.6 FM in East Perth, repeated about every 6 hours. Thanks again Barry!

10.01.2022 So .... not only is the Water Corporation actively promoting that dams are not the answer to climate change, while DWER is supporting the building of the SFIS to combat climate change .... .... The Water Corporation is also actively replanting to help restore habitat for endangered species like the Carnaby's Black Cockatoo, whilst the SFIS dam would destroy hundreds of established habitat trees hundreds of years old at Record Brook Can we maybe get the guy running the Water Corp to change jobs?

10.01.2022 The Bullant himself ....

10.01.2022 On the one hand we have DWER insisting that their modelling supports the dam for the SFIS, who claim it's to help with the affects of climate change. On the other hand, we have the Water Corp sending out pamphlets explaining how dams are not the answer to climate change and declining rainfall. Both departments are in the Hon Dave Kellys MLA portfolio as the Minister for Water.... This is literally the definition of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, and I think Mr Kelly has some serious explaining to do.

10.01.2022 A really interesting interview with a bloke who definitely knows his stuff .... and some other guy he was asking a lot of questions

10.01.2022 For the complete picture (the one you won't get from the proponents of this scheme), come down to the the North Fremantle Community Hall October 3rd at 6pm. See you there!

09.01.2022 In case you missed it, here is the link for the episode, it's terrifying to watch. Commercialisation of water will only serve to make the already wealthy even more so, and rapidly drain the most valuable resource on this planet away from where it is most needed. We must stop them doing it here.... Stop the SFIS, Save Our Donnelly River!

09.01.2022 Freedom of speech and freedom of opinion alive and well out the front of the Town Hall today .... They didn’t appreciate the Save Our Donnelly River Tshirt either!

09.01.2022 Association members, please check your email for previous meetings minutes and next meeting dates

08.01.2022 Lack of transparency is the breeding ground for corruption. The SFIS has had an extreme case of "trust us" whilst keeping plans and details close to their chest. We the people, have learned that "trust us" just doesn't cut it anymore.

08.01.2022 Members out in force getting signatures to help Save Our Donnelly River! Fantastic effort, well done The petition will be tabled later this year in parliament to force our decision makers to consider their position on the scheme.

08.01.2022 A lovely little clip of the Donnelly River mouth .... notice the massive volumes of water at the end, spewing out into the sea wastefully

08.01.2022 Ok, so there are people that follow this page who have signed up with the SFIS, or who are proponents of the plan. I have a legitimate question, if you prefer you can PM me the answer. The proposed dam would be 15GL with a maximum withdrawal allowance of 9.3GL (27% of the 'flow') in a given year, and an extra 3GL coming from Record Brook which would never make it to the the Donnelly again. For arguments sake, lets say the dam is full this year, and what follows is two dry yea...rs which nobody can predict, but has certainly been historical fact over the last 20 years. The scheme is calculated to lose 3GL in evaporation each year which is predicted to be offset by 3GL from Record Brook, and the dam is required to maintain 3GL for structural integrity. Throughout 2 dry years, the bulk of the 12GL that was available in the dam is supplied to subscribers, as per the purpose of the dam to provide water in dry years, but there hasn't been sufficient flow to top it up under the "environmental flow comes first" hypothesis of the proposal. Entering dry year number 3 and the dam is going to lose enough water in evaporation that it will go under the 3GL minimum to maintain this $80 million asset, because like everything else, Record Brook supply is reduced too. When it rains less and the region is subjected to dry years, evaporation is increased whilst the inflow from Record Brook is decreased. So what happens next? We know the people who sign up to the scheme are advised that they are under no guarantee of being supplied water, even though the 'modelling' quoted is for a 95% reliability. The fact is if the pumps aren't inundated with water, they can't pump. It's clear from this historical chart by the HARC agency that was submitted by the SFIS to the EPA as a supporting document that there are going to be more and more years where the dam is dry and supply is going to be compromised. So my question again is, how do you maintain supply to your subscribers AND structural integrity of a dam that cannot be allowed to empty whilst maintaining the environment first? If anyone has the answer to this question, I am genuinely interested in knowing the answer. This are my taxpayer dollars too. - Anton Troy

08.01.2022 Hi folks! As election mode comes closer, we have much happening in the wings .... meanwhile, check out this great addition to our website, MERCHANDISE! You can now buy our caps and Tshirts online, just click the link below and away we go! I can tell you from personal experience they are fantastic conversation starters. ... Some parts of WA it takes me a half hour to get out of the pie shop :) Get your own personal billboard today and help spread the word!!

08.01.2022 "The Morrison government has said it refused to sign a global pledge endorsed by 64 countries committing them to reverse biodiversity loss because it was inconsistent with Australia’s policies." With this kind of idiocy at the helm, what chance does the environment have?

05.01.2022 Don't forget folks, the SFIS Open Day is tomorrow at the Manjimup Town Hall between 9 and 5. Feel free to get down there and ask Jeremy the tough questions (he wont have answers) about the environment.

05.01.2022 Don’t forget folks, you can now find us on Instagram! Share the love

05.01.2022 The proponents of the SFIS clearly state the plan is to droughtproof the region. Yet we see new avocados going into the ground by subscribers to the scheme by the thousands, expanding their operations. Alterra alone, would use approximately 2GL per year for approximately 75000 new avocados over 300 hectares, a crop that isn’t expected to yield a single fruit for years.... We produce enough food in this country to feed 75 million people. This kind of wanton environmental destruction is not for food security, it’s for increased profits, nothing more.

04.01.2022 Water speculation in Australia MUST stop! Hon Allanah MacTiernan has answered questions about the SFIS on several occasions stating that it’s different from the Murray Darling scheme as the water is not separate from the land or transferable. On page TWO of the SFIS offer to subscribers it states that the water allocations are separate from the land, and transferable.... Looks like someone didn’t read into it too much .... You must be a land owner or operator to buy into the SFIS, but if you decide to let your lease go, the allocation does not go back to the land owner, you retain the water allocation. This means that you can sell that water (as a private entity or multinational corporation) to other subscribers to the scheme, no matter where in the world you are located. That’s the definition of a water speculator, hoping for drought to increase profits.

04.01.2022 We have received six petitions back already, from as far as Port Headland to Margaret River! This is a state issue, keep up the great work, and thank you for your support! If you have one or want to download one and get some signatures, click on the link below and mail them back by October 15th :)

03.01.2022 Did you know that you can subscribe to our newsletter? Did you know we even HAD a newsletter? (Don't get too excited, the Save Our Donnelly River Association is less than 3 months old, we've only had two newsletters so far)... You can find the newsletter archive and the subscription form at the following link to keep up to date on past achievements. To be part of future ones, click the membership link!

03.01.2022 Jeremy Bower CEO of the SFIC has stated numerous times that the SFIS is nothing like the Murray Darling scheme because of the volume of water and number of states involved. If that’s the only difference, we still have a problem.... The SFIS is all about looking after the immediate gains of a select few at the cost of everyone else and the environment, deals involving $59 million in taxpayer dollars without transparency, and massive conflicts of interest that go undeclared

02.01.2022 To the skeptics out there .... Issues such as this spark debate, in particular about sustainability. Whether forestry is sustainable.... Whether dams are sustainable. Whether climate change is real. There’s a lot of people who believe that everything is fine the way we are going. There’s a lot of people who don’t care as long as it’s fine in their lifetime. There’s a lot of people who believe the human race is ultimately at threat because these practices are not sustainable and sooner or later we will hit an irreversible critical mass. There’s a lot of people who can’t bear to contemplate that, or don’t know how to fix it, or are concerned for their job .... If you look at it logically, it all boils down to two basic concepts. Either A- everything is fine and we don’t have to do anything different, or B- it’s not and we actually are headed for eventual critical mass. (Whether you care or not) So, in the case of A, if we do nothing and you are proved right in a hundred years, all the activists have wasted time and effort, but it’s our time and effort and you didn’t listen anyway. But if we do something and we didn’t need to, we’ll have cleaner air and bigger forests for no good reason. In the case of B, if we do nothing and we are right, then it’s all over and eventually the planet will kick us off and begin to heal itself without us. Or if we are right and we do something thats desperately required, we might just save everything (including you and your family, whether you care or not) From a logical standpoint, the consequences of doing nothing, of making no changes, of believing it’s all ok the way it is, makes no sense from a risk analysis point of view. The consequences of being wrong and doing nothing far exceeds being right and doing something. The fact is that in the 80’s the Ozone was the big thing. It was confirmed that CFC’s were depleting the protective barrier in our atmosphere against the sun and if we didn’t address the issue there would be serious consequences for the planet and the human race. What resulted was a global ban on CFC’s, no deniers, no protests about save my CFC’s, no massive industry failures or spike in prices. The economy survived. We adapted. Now the ozone is repairing itself because we recognised we had an effect on global climate change, changed our behaviour in time, and the balance was restored. The problem today is the same, just manifesting in a different manner, but now there’s more resistance to the idea that we should change anything we are doing to this planet. The facts remain the same, it’s the opinion on what those facts mean that differs. Time will tell, as it already has. Which side of history do you want to be on?

02.01.2022 With EPA reviews coming up, and state elections, we are gearing up to make some noise! Now you can choose if you would like to donate as a one time thing, or contribute to the fight monthly. Click the below link for more information, and as always, thank you for your support!

02.01.2022 Don’t miss out on your chance to get these stunning calendars of our very own Donnelly River ecosystem, available online or from the stall today at the Cherry Festival (we are near the commonwealth bank)

01.01.2022 We listened to the science when it was about CFC’s, made changes, industry survived. When the science was about oil and gas emissions, those global corporations paid for misinformation to be spread. The conditions we are experiencing now, is what they predicted decades ago, and still people do not believe.... A 30m high dam that knocks down nearly 600 hectares of state forest will not only struggle to be filled in an ever drying climate, but clearing that land will make it rain less. The SFIS proposal is not needed, not wanted, not viable. It does not drought proof anything. We are drawing the line in the sand here and now. Tell them NO dammit!

01.01.2022 A number of things are very clear here ..... Manjimup gets left out of the tourism funding by every single state government, preferring to support regions such as Pemberton and Margaret River. There is opportunity to develop tourism in the region, and the people of the community want and need that, not just stakeholders.... We simply disagree that a big hole in the ground where the forest used to be is the best way to do that, when you have the states tallest tree 15 minutes from the centre of town. Eco-tourism is the single fastest growing section of the tourism industry, there are magnificent things to see in the region that are simply undeveloped. You cannot sacrifice the existing tourism industry of the entire region along 151km of Donnelly River and expect to make that up in this dam project, which is designed to be emptied for agriculture and would have been 4 years in the last 6 by the SFIS own submissions to the EPA. It's fantastic that they are doing more environmental studies on flora and fauna in the region, but if they had already done that properly we wouldn't still be here.

01.01.2022 There are two ways we win fights like this .... Firstly, making sure it doesn’t go under the radar. The more people that know, the harder it is for them to get it past the goalkeeper. Job done! ... Secondly, no single person is doing everything. We started the Save Our Donnelly River Association to find people with more experience than us, in the EPA processes, in the environmental sciences, in riverine health. Whilst we have many such people supporting us, now is the time to get serious. If you, or someone you know has historical information about other river/dam projects and their outcomes, or information about environmental studies in the southwest, or experience in writing EPA submissions and objections then we want to hear from you! Please email us at [email protected] It can be anonymous, we have already got a lot of support and read a LOT of documents. This fight is a boots on the ground thing and we are asking for your help. Share this post, email people, send them a text, give them a call! Not to fight the logging industry or trash agriculture, just to save a river from a corrupt and unviable scheme that we the taxpayer don’t want. Help us save OUR Donnelly River!

01.01.2022 Thanks Wendy (Nannas for Native Forests) for the support :) It was a great day, so well documented!

01.01.2022 What an amazing response we had at the Manjimup Cherry Festival today! Heaps of new members and people looking for the other side of the SFIS rhetoric which doesn’t come from people who are paid to spin the truth. Thank you to all Association members who came and pitched in today (and there were many!), a real display of solidarity against this failed scheme. ... Bravo!
