25.01.2022 Remember, when voting, who voted to preserve Elsternwick Park South for the community: only Cr Long and Cr Castelli. All other Crs voted against 90% of the community’s interests.

24.01.2022 Just got my answers back from council about an apparent letterbox drop that took place prior to June 19! Apparently 3000 homes in the area indicated received a flyer telling them about this proposal ! A little bit hard to believe we all forgot to check our mail that month!

24.01.2022 The latest advice from council on when the next consultation sessions are. August 1st 3:30 through 5:30 and August 4th, 11am through 1pm. Note that a lot of people are reporting they have not received this flyer, so please distribute this information. It is important to turn up and indicate to the council staff that there are a lot of poeple who are not happy about this!

04.01.2022 Here we go again. In January last year council officers advised all sporting clubs they would have to start capping numbers, as oval capacity was at 99%. The e...xplosion of female participation was putting pressure on the supply of ovals. 80% of oval use during daylight hours is for passive recreation. Oval #4 at Elsternwick Park has been in continuous use as an oval since 1872. Last year the Council resolved to reactivate and upgrade Oval #4, install modern lighting and build a new change room so players didn’t have to walk 600 metres to the nearest toilet, or change behind trees. This motion from one of the new councillors at his very first Ordinary Meeting of Council will mean our kids who want to play sport will miss out. This motion will limit training during winter to day light hours - which is around 5pm. Elsternwick Park is classified as a Regional Sporting Ground. For 148 years the park has co-existed with both active and passive recreation. This park belongs to all of Bayside - not just the neighbours. If you feel passionate about this, the only way our voice will be heard is to email and phone ALL councillors and let them know that sport matters in Bayside. See more
